  1. That a radio edit is almost 5 minutes long :joy: :joy: :joy:

I suppose not too many songs start with Q, so maybe you just skipped it bc you couldn't think of any? Or did you legitimately forget? What Makes you Beautiful by One Direction
  3. @nowayme, your story was seriously moving, nearly to the point of tears. I'm beyond happy for you that you managed to get yourself out of that mess, that after 30 long years you finally triumphed against your lifelong depression and that you didn't let it get the best of you by taking your life away either. Some people give up so easily, and I honestly can't blame them but there's a lot of beauty and happiness in the world too, if you know where to look, and to take the "glass half full" approach. For some things we decide what labels we want to put on them, whether they make us feel happy or sad. And it's those things that sometimes can make or break a person's life. I'm very sorry to hear though that your friend passed away the day Coldplay's new singles came out. You say she had deteriorating health, was it a mental or physical thing? Much condolences to you and her friends and family though, I must imagine that even though you're risen above your past that hit you very hard like a brick to the stomach, and that you're still recovering.

  5. They manage to make what's likely their most experimental album and they still beat Robbie Williams for #1. And then just prior in 2015 they made their most poppy commercial album and fall in the first week to Adele SXM plays Orphans a lot on Alt Nation. Once I barely managed to catch the last few seconds of Arabesque on there too as I just got in the car (and subsequently blasted the radio full volume for those few seconds), too bad I didn't get to catch all of it I guess it wouldn't really matter that much since SXM quality wise is garbage, but oh well. It would have sounded really out of place anyway, some EDM pop hybrid played on there after lol (not SJLT) Yeah, I just remember there being a lot of disappointment on here that the commercial poppy AHFOD managed to lose to Adele. At least it topped the charts eventually
  6. Yeah, they seem to be avoiding playing this song live proper with an orchestra. A shame, because this is literally an orchestral song that would give them a chance to fully shine solo in all their beauty and glory. They shoulda even done it in Jordan as they did have an orchestra for COTW, maybe they were busy at the time or something bc I can't remember whether they were there at all for the Sunrise performance. I guess they didn't play it in the BBC Radio 1 session at all, but they totally should have played it live with that massive church/hall sound that museum provided, woulda sounded sooooo e b i p
  7. ohhhhkay, so you musta listened to the leak beforehand instead and missed the expletive at the end
  8. I guess I could see that going from a total lack of singing to full on multiple rehearsals each day could take a serious toll on his vocals. I don't really have experience with Coldplay eras prior to AHFOD so I don't know if after they tour they did some shows here and there, but I guess they most certainly recorded so he didn't really have much of a slump in his vocals for them to get that bad? I guess he still did Los Unidades at the end of 2018 but they must have taken too long of a break after that or even before they released that. I don't know how much time Chris put into recording the vocals for EL, but it doesn't sound like that much, they kind of left this album raw and organic and slightly "unfinished", so maybe just rehearsing all those times afterwards and it just building up causing him to lose his voice
  9. That's fine. I just found it a little odd since Arabesque and Orphans are 2 really different songs from each other, and that they missed the mark on the rest of the songs Wow so it's really interesting that even do admit to experimentation and also making music in more of an organic fashion, not relying so much on computers and synths this time around (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it's a nice change of pace as compared to the last few albums). I like that they even said they were writing and coming up with ideas in a variety of places, which definitely must have fueled the vast variety we see on the final album. If Coldplay ends up releasing all their unreleased work I'd die to hear these "hundreds of ideas" that never seen the light of day on this record. If this is only scratching the surface of what they've done I bet some of the other stuff they did is just crazy, and we know from experience that some of Coldplay's best work is their unreleased work/b-sides. It also seems like this is a free video which has clips from Road to Jordan. Maybe it doesn't tell the same story, but for those of you who haven't seen it yet, if you really like the background scenes from the video you might just wanna check out Road to Jordan

  12. So that must have been the original album from the Mylo era, as he said it was being created around ten years ago. Interesting to know its title! And that "such a beautiful bride" line would definitely fit in very well with the album, it would have to be from those original Mylo sessions after all, when it was first named Aiko...... And now obviously maybe some of that album entered the content from the Mylo era, but here we also see some of it making its way into Everyday Life, as he also acknowledges that as well.
  13. I'm not sure about the claim that Flags would be doing better than Orphans. It's poppy but not as much as Orphans, it's even further from what the mainstream accepts now than Orphans in any case, so I'm honestly not convinced Flags would do any better. What they should do is release Church as a single. THAT has potential to get big, thanks largely in part to Stargate. I don't really look at the charts at all as I don't really care that much, I look every now and again just to see what kinds of garbage is at the top, and I had a phase a few years back where I checked a lot. Most of it is just garbage anyway. Unlike a few years back.
  14. Or to make really commercial music to try to reach that goal (con 1), and then failing to achieve success at all (con 2). On one hand I wanna say if they're gonna go a commercial route I at least want them to be successful, but then again maybe a loss of success would cause them to reconsider their musical path. That would only be if they were chasing after the money that they'd do that though, if they were making cheap music just because they wanted to (not that common), nothing would change and that would probably suck. That was what wasn't so good about Los Unidades, probably because it was under a different name it was really commercial music that didn't go anywhere. I might have heard E-Lo once or twice on the radio but that's it. That said I'd much rather that kind of music be associated with another band name than Coldplay, to say the least, even if it means a hit in sales Didn't Coldplay lose their consecutive 1st week #1 album streak to Adele? I knew they reached the top of the charts later and we all celebrated the news, but I could have sworn that was the first time a Coldplay album didn't chart #1 in the first week....
  15. Yasssss thanks @Captain Crieff for the old smilies, gonna be usin these exclusively from now on Riiiight, didn't he have to do an interview recently using text to voice software? Wonder why that freak occurrence happened, and why it had to happen around album release time when the only performances of the era are occurring, Hope he gets better soon.

Sea, infact I'm moving to an oceanside town very soon and I'm so glad because I haven't really liked where I've been living for a long time now and it's about time for a change of scenery :D Plane or car?
  17. woot woot commenting so i can catch the after recording of this too, part 1 was great!
  18. Thanks for the advice. I already managed to find a good quality version of it elsewhere though! Or we might, if that snippet they said about them releasing all their unreleased material some point in the future turns out to be true :D I'm highly confident Eko and Aiko are the same song. But you're also probably right about The Wedding Album being split into those 2 albums as well. When I was reading @the_escapist's post on this it sounded like The Wedding Album was only being worked on as the 8th LP, and heck maybe it was and included some Mylo era songs, which were reused again for Everyday Life. That being said they mentioned that it was a very raw sounding album, which would imply that it might have been the first album they were working on for the Mylo era which was really stripped back and acoustic, before they had a change of plans. I guess I might need to watch that interview for more information on when exactly The Wedding Album was being worked on, do you need any sort of subscription to Apple Music or something to hear it though? Cause I don't do Apple Music :joy: Autotune intro of Cry Cry Cry sounds most like a ringtone to me :joy: :joy: :joy: You could also try the intro/chorus of Orphans. Or loop the intro of Eko. Not impressed with the customer service or not impressed with the album? Or both? :joy: Also, you do realize they have all the lyric videos to listen for free on YT? If you wanted to just listen to it? Womp womp. What were you expecting? SHIPPING on Dec 6th?!!?! That means it'll take even longer to actually arrive. This is some atrocious ordeal. Definitely worth it at the end though to get all that. I definitely hope they waive your shipping because that's just crazy.

    Welcome to the forums!
  22. Welp, this really freaking sucks because Robbie Williams might get his #1 album and beat out Coldplay like Adele did with AHFOD :sob: OFC I'd rather have a band that does really good high quality music than commercial music, but come on they're Coldplay, even if this IS an experimental album it has to sell somewhat well! Cmon Coldplay gotta beat that Robbie WIlliams! not saying you should put out trash music specifically to earn commercial success though..... gotta be legit with all dat
  23. Huh, the sax solo eh. I guess maybe they both go quieter in the bridge and they're similar in structure like that? I'd much consider Orphans to be closer structurally to AOAL, as it has that same indie pop rock vibe, and both have a moment of relative silence before the chorus, and both go really quiet in the bridge. And the verses are slightly quieter in both songs too. I know you probably weren't talking about Orphans, but you actually just made me realize how similar Orphans actually is to AOAL, picking them apart.....
  24. Well hopefully we get to hear the other Broken when they release all those unreleased songs from every era they promised. If they weren't just referring to acoustic ballads solely. This reminds me of the original Fun from VLV era, then the Fun on AHFOD that came after it.....

I despise all alcohol but I'd have to say beer, because it has less alcohol content. And whenever I drink anything. I just slurp it all down so I wouldn't get AS drunk on beer :joy: Sunrise or Sunset? ;)
