I totally agree. Coldplay's version of "pop" is vastly different than the typical radio stuff nowadays. I really enjoy Coldplay's version of pop, in my opinion they do pop right. By no means does it compare to their previous works but Coldplay's version of pop is actually a really nice thing to listen to in my opinion over what you hear on the radio.

They are going slightly pop but really you can't even call it pop, it sounds so different than the stupid typical stuff on the radio today. But you have an argument for Chris and Avicii's "True Believer". That sounds nothing more than a normal pop beat, with an EDM twist, with a horrible sounding voice in the verse. (Talking about the album version). The live one is much better. Personally, I don't really like Major Minus. The first 35 seconds are totally bland, uninspired, and kind of lame. (I'd rather listen to True Believer than the first 35 seconds, as bad as it is). The next parts are okay. 2:05-2:35 is pretty cool (they had so much potential in Aiko, why did they have to rework it into a song like this?) The last minute is okay. The live version is better...

Lost! is actually coherent, Rainy Day sounds like a bunch of unrelated tracks mixed together. I can see why some people are voting for Lost!, it's pretty repetitive, and they could have spiced it up by putting some real drums in there.

nooo :( Chris has unfortunately dropped to the level of writing regular-sounding songs nowadays... The last two album's "pop" music were way better than normal pop that you hear on the radio today. They actually have meaning in it, they actually put emotion into it. Unfortunately this piece is nothing more than a normal pop song you'd hear on the radio today (with an EDM twist), and I don't want Coldplay to drop to the level of writing boring, lame songs like those. Get it together CM. Please stop wasting time with this. To be fair I guess Chris wrote the original version which was pretty decent but pales in comparison to his previous works. That's what I love about Coldplay... props to them! They chose such a perfect song to go with the theme they put on and I completely agree with it! :D "Stunning Day" sounds really weird in the sort of context of the song but it's much better than Amazing Day... I agree with you there. "Astonishing Day" "Surprising Day" "Astounding Day" LOL

You're kidding me... Rainy Day seems like a bunch of jumbled parts together with no relatiion to each other. EDIT: I do kind of agree it's repetitive. They could have easily added drums in there to make it much more interesting... but it's a ton better than Rainy Day.

Yayy!!! X&Y won... such a great album! It's the one I listened to while walking home in the rain today... (more info on that story on "Random Coldplay thoughts" thread, it's actually a great story :P) It's an amazing era...

I kind of noticed the thread died so I just wanted it to be noticed again. :P Congratulations to Fix You, earning 2nd place and Glass of Water, earning 3rd place! It is a bit surprising that Glass of Water got 3rd.. it certainly is a great song but by no means is it very popular. That's okay. I just figured it'd be nice so you wouldn't have to find the winner :D And I really enjoyed this game! I really wish it got more attention than it did! I really would like to see another version (October) with another selection of songs as well (as @I ran away requested). Just one thing... may I request one rule change from this time: could you please make it so that you can vote more than once but you have to wait until x number of people vote until you can cast another vote again? IMO this would make the game more interesting and it would keep it alive a while longer. And you can set x to anything, for example on one other game it said you have to wait until 3 people vote until you do it again. You can set it to 5, or 4, or whatevery your preference is :P I'd just like to see this sort of fun little game stay alive for longer...

Yeah! I agree on the Viva era. I really liked that era as well... hopefully if they do the same with AHFOD it's also amazing!

Just looking at the lyrics started to get me almost throwing up... (I could feel pooling in my chest) The song is actually pretty decent in my opinion... but of course it's no where near the level of any of Coldplay's work, outside of Major Minus and maybe 1.36. And maybe Yes, but that's a strech.

Please don't tell me that Chris Martin was the one who wrote this... I might give up on Coldplay already if he's dropped to that level of incompetence in writing songs.

Alright so today I was walking home in the rain... It was expected to rain quite a bit here and as you all know I love listening to X&Y album while it's raining. So it was about a 10 minute walk before I realizeed "Why not walk a little more?" This may seem crazy walking in the rain but I had to, that's how much I love X&Y while listening to the rain. I walked around the block and unfortunately only got up to about the sixth track before I decided enough was enough walking in the rain and I returned home. But it was an amazing experience to say the least... this is the first time I've done this and it was an amaizng experience! I was soaking by the time I got home but it was worth it! :D I really loved that walk around the block while listening to that song... now here's the funny part: This was something that I just came up with on the spot, and I forgot my headphones on the way to the place I was at so at first I put my phone speaker up to my ear but that was uncomfortable since I wanted to listen hands-free. So I kept fiddling around with it until I got to the beginning of White Shadows (keep in mind that at the end of White Shadows I decided to walk around the block). At that point I decided to kind of stuff my phone into the back of my shirt. My hood kept the phone from getting wet so it was the best solution I could think of at that time. The phone stayed dry and it also stayed still, and it was relatively secure so I wouldn't have to worry about it falling out too much. from there I went on and enjoyed! :D Now whenever I had to switch the volume of course I had to press the button on my phone and then it kind of got insecure so I had to re-secure it again. It was quite funny actually, the setup I had. But that's what desperate Coldplay fans do when they forgot their headphones :lol: That's also what a Coldplay fan does when they love the rain (yes, I love rainy days) and doesn't care to get wet if they get to listen to X&Y in the rain. :P Hopefully you enjoyed my adventures on a rainy day walking around the block listening to Coldplay's X&Y :D

@ the first paragraph: @thetwinparadox actually likes people using strategies to save their favorite songs. For example, me and @I ran away set up this whole campaign, because we really love Viva and we want to persuade people to vote for the song with the most votes in order to save it. In my opinion, the game is about eliminating songs that you don't really like to find what most people think the best song in a list is. The players of the game can do anything possible (within the game's rules, of course) to try to save or eliminate a song, and that can include creative ways of trying to save a song that they think should stay a few rounds longer, which can include campaigns to persuade people to vote a song out so another can be save. IMO, it's all a legit part of the game, since every game has people setting up creative solutions to problems. It's a natural part of games IMO and that's a part of why they're really fun. @ the second paragraph: That's the kind of creativity I like to see. It's all a competition to see what song wins, and that can include employing those sorts of strategies to get a song very far in the game that a person really wants... I really like to see that. :) @ the third paragraph. I'm completely fine with that. I don't disrespect your opinion at all. But I was just saying that we were trying to save "the big megahit" because, in our opinion, it's a great song. In our opinion, keep that in mind. Not in yours. Ours. Just want to clarify. So, we were trying some creative (and effective) strategies to save it. That's all :)
