  1. Now what song is this? Also sounds wonderful just from the lyrics. Lol I'm finding way too many good songs for my own good, my music library is massive enough lol  I didn't necessarily mean to say Coldplay never makes good lyrics anymore, because they certainly do in cases like those, what I meant to say I guess is that they don't do it as consistently as they once did. I agree on Up&Up, all around that song is legendary when looking past the awful overproduction. The first live version was just perfect. (Speaking of that, anyone have a really good quality recording of that? The one I have is OK but not great... I'd like one where I can truly feel the music. Thanks in advance. :)) And what is the style of music in question? Modern mainstream stuff to appeal to the masses. I'm not saying I don't like those songs because I definitely do, and also keep in mind I'm talking more about HFTW than ASFOS but Coldplay have proven, more than once, recently that they are capable of writing something much more artistic than "I oh I Oh I got me feeling drunk and high so high so high". As much as I do like that song, for one I can't help but cringe at least once, secondly I'd much rather not have heard that song at all, or the whole album for that matter, and instead would have preferred an album full of Atlas's, Moving to Mars's, Midnight's, Oceans's, Fly On's, etc. Once again I'm not saying I dislike the new album. It's just mildly disappointing when you think of the fact that they are capable of so much more. And in fact, they probably did come with that "more" a lot in the album sessions but threw them out because they weren't mainstream or poppy enough... And it's a shame we may never hear them even once since Coldplay apparently decided to completely forget about B-sides one day. Just imagine how happy a lot of us would be if we got even one song reminiscent of Moving to Mars or Atlas. Heck, there could have been an artistic masterpiece only thought about for a split second, then discarded as they decided to throw X Marks The Spot onto the album. The decisions they made, choosing Stargate to make pop hits over someone like Brian Eno or Jon Hopkins that would set them back on track to make something that would stick with nearly everyone on the forum and all Coldplayers in general for a very long time, it's almost frustrating. Hopefully for their next album they take a hiatus, look over their career and really ask themselves where they've gone and the decisions they've made very recently. I know I've said in the past that this is meant to be their celebration album and that they were entitled to do almost whatever since they've worked so hard on previous albums, and I still stand by this viewpoint, however it's still not a good enough of an excuse to be working with Stargate, or throwing songs like XMTS onto the album, and making songs inspired by late night clubs, "Turn Down For What", and starting it off with "drinks on me" in my eyes. I once seen someone comment on Mylo Xyloto saying it was highly immature. That's so untrue, whoever that person was obviously never heard one mainstream pop song in their life with actual awful lyrics. If they thought that was bad they'd never bother to pay one bit of attention to what was coming, sorry to say it. And don't worry, I am not attacking anyone on this forum since I believe that comment wasn't put on here. Now, all of this being said, note that I am mainly mentioning HFTW and XMTS. Those in my eyes are the two largest offenders. The rest of the album is actually really solid and sees a Coldplay album, just in a truly pop format this time. However, as I've said before, they're still capable of so much more. Just my opinion on all this. Once again I do agree, however there is such an overabundance of awful cliche lyrics in the mainstream pop scene nowadays. It wasn't this bad even a few years ago. At least even as early as the 2000's rock shared the mainstream with pop unlike today. And even then the pop songs were nice. Now everything is pitch perfect and overproduced. Even rock is losing that magic it once had, more known rock songs seem to have just the same style of production that mainstream pop songs do, even though the song itself isn't even really pop rock, it's just rock with an awful overly clean and polished sound to it, with the vocal a million miles in front of everything, it makes it sound so annoying nowadays. Thankfully acts like Radiohead and DIIV have the older style of production even today which doesn't make my ears want to bleed... cool, will have to check them out (sorry I've used up all my ideas for what to say in my last two quotes lol ) Good, that's why I put that little message at the bottom in case it was a common saying anyone could use lol
  2. You sure this from 2016? It sounds way too good to be! :P
  3. More Coldplay :D Or... Missing from this forum I have been for a couple days, no need to worry about me being gone forever though, I am back :D
  4. 'Til Kingdom Come For you I'd wait, 'til kingdom come Until my day, my day is done And say you'll come, and set me free Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me vs White Shadows When I was a young boy I tried to listen And I want to feel like that Little white shadows blink and miss them Part of a system, I am
  5. I know, it's a wondrous blend of a sing along style and a heartfelt emotion, both things we know Coldplay are masters at :D Maybe it's telling you either listen to that song more because it's awesome, or you need to go somewhere, that song is awesome for times like that How come whenever I go on this thread now I have no song in my head like i usually do :D
  6. Could it be worse?
  7. What!!! How is that possible?! Sorry for being late. Happy belated birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :vuvuzela: oldiefan, your quote's in red. guy42 & I ran away, your quotes are in blue. ChrisMartinFan, your 2 quotes are in gold. coldplay_lover4, your quote's in green. [spoiler=Quotes] Yay it worked this time :D That is freaking amazing seriously... wow Same thoughts... Absolutely blew me away. What an absolutely beautiful rendition of ASFOS. As much as I like the original I love this even more. It's like My Heart Will Go On meets ASFOS. What a cover, and I can't say this about a lot of covers of Coldplay. And I didn't even watch the whole thing... Gold. Classic. Can't believe how many posts can get put on here in such a short time..
  8. Sometimes you'll feel
  9. That's an easy one to get stuck in your head. A really nice song. :D
  10. How epic this band is.
  11. 66695
  12. Both outstanding choices.
  13. Don't worry, I've done the same thing on here. But in the other way... :D True. But it's that we want more of the good stuff. Sure we will always have AROBTTH to enjoy and even if Coldplay goes all out mainstream blah pop in the next album with hip hop elements complete with autotune and has no diverse influences at all (unlike this new one, some of you up to this point may have been thinking AHFOD is what I was describing) and completely electronic beats, we can always have a listen to the old album. But the point here is we want them to keep making good stuff, not necessarily doing the same thing over but experimenting and trying different styles which is precisely what Viva was all about. And why it was loved by so many of us. The Oldplayers know they could have gotten another masterpiece. But they didn't. Especially with the hype since they were in India and everything and our musical imaginations started running wild with ideas about diverse influences, all we got was sprinkles that appear for a bit then fade away into the poppiness. It shows that they are capable of a masterpiece if only they focused on that instead of delivering the newest and greatest 2016 pop anthem that gets #1 on the charts and a billion views on YouTube. This is just my view anyway. Yay, someone else likes Mylo :D I honestly feel torn between MX and AROBTTH sometimes, I mean they're so hard to compare. One is so very colourful and generally very upbeat with numerous pop rock anthems that to me are executed so perfectly, the melodies are beautiful and larger than life, and they did a great job with using synths effectively in the album as both a part of the upbeatness of the song and as a part of the atmospheric background (have a listen at some of the instrumentals of the album, trust me, there's a lot that can get covered up by the vocals if you are casually listening, it's a truly wonderful experience.) And the other is a very melancholic album in general conveying the emotions of the people who they were at that time in life (this was my mistake last time describing the album, I called it "sad" and in general I'd argue it is but there is definitely more to it than that in detail). All the while keeping a simple, straight, white theme, with a hue of one color here and there throughout the songs. It almost seems like opposites and you'd either like one or the other. But in my opinion they both are extremely strong albums in their respective styles. They're my favs. I do think in general I slightly prefer MX since there are actually a couple songs in AROBTTH I don't really care for too much (although I still definitely like them, they don't stand up to the other songs) while in MX every single song is just soo good, some more than others at that, but still. That really does suck, but once again and I've said this many times for Oldplayers it's not the change that's the problem; it's the nature of it. Many people like Radiohead today and even the albums before their drastic turning point take away Pablo Honey are generally liked, especially OK Computer. As another person recently said I do suppose the initial response to Kid A was mixed but eventually it went on to be considered one of the greatest albums of all time. (And here's the thing: Coldplay overall is still my favorite band but from an artistic standpoint I can admit Radiohead is superior. They've changed their sound vastly even since Kid A and most fans still even like OK Computer. That's because they've never really done stuff that's been done before, they are always innovating and making new sounds with each release and that's been proven once again with AMSP, I mean how do you just come up with that many songs that sound that unique but just feel like normal songs? It's absolutely crazy how they can do that, make songs that sound normal yet undeniably unique... two polar opposites it seems, yet that's Radiohead doing what they do best, breaking boundaries like that. And it's been loved by a lot, yet it is so different than The King of Limbs (in a way it's similar but really for the most part they're very different.) Critics have ranked their albums and releases so high, higher than any of Coldplay's content. They're truly outstanding. Hopefully Coldplay's next release will take a shot at standing up to that... wouldn't that be truly out standing to see?) True, but it was still innovative. It set the bar way too high for what would come to follow in terms of experimentation. It was admittedly a more mainstream release than many were expecting, hence why in MX the response was split.
  14. Sorry for that. :(
  15. Whenever we'd have it it would be great to have it on a Saturday...
  16. What song is this, it sounds amazing just by the lyrics. Looks like someone took inspiration from "U.F.O". Or the other way around... (sorry if this is some ancient saying or something that everyone's allowed to use and I'm just being oblivious to that fact, just like BMTH with AHFOD's artwork...)
  17. It's a good song, but does not compare to the others on the list. If I remember correctly I remember debating which was better amongst some other songs in my head but in the end I chose Ink because it's most likely to be eliminated out of the songs I like less lol
  18. Generally yes, but AHFOD is considered by many here to be worse than MX and GS. X&Y is also considered by some to be worse than AROBTTH. But once again in general you'd be right. :)
  19. I probably do!
  20. As I am writing this Viva la Vida has started to play on Stingray :D
  21. There it is, don't know why it didn't pop up the first time. Either that or I completely missed the green for whatever reason. Not a big deal but whatever :) Yeah I didn't see it either, that's weird. Try again? I'm glad you look upon mistakes this way because it's true. They seem to be the best way to learn, because you actually get the experience and if you know what you did wrong you'll make extra sure to not do it again, you'll be better the next time, at least that's the way it works for me, I'll be the first to admit I hate when I make a mistake and fail something but that frustration for me ensures I will do better next time. Which is the good thing for me. :) Once more, good luck next time!
  22. Was reading through this thread because I was bored, found this: Dude. Freaking. Same. This is exactly how I feel about music and for me sometimes it evolves into certain scenes the song would be most suitable to listen to. No wonder I love Coldplay so much, I associate colors with music just like Chris Martin does. We think similarly like that. And so far in every one of their albums they've nailed what color matches to each song. Good job by them. It also bugs me when I think of a color for a song and then the album cover has a color that's completely different from what I first imagined and I've gotta look at that color every single time I listen to that song now. It switches the color of the song it seems. Which is really annoying. Glad Coldplay does it right... Also, when I get exposed to the album cover before listening to the music itself which has happened quite a few times the song automatically takes on the color of the album cover for me. It's a weird effect. Anyone else on the forum find this is the case for them?
  23. It has such a calm nice vibe to it, even though it's my least favorite from the Parachutes era I don't necessarily hate it.. not as good as some of the other songs but still nice to listen to for me. See what you did there...
  24. Goes to show how diverse Coldplay's fanbase is, as if we didn't have enough proof they have fans from all over the world here... :D
