For me Parachutes is great for listening to after sunset, it's the best for me. Nice to fall asleep too. So warm and cozy. It also works well as a wake up album too. Someone mentioned the orange-ness of it, that's why I like to associate this with quiet area on the outskirts of town with orange streetlights overhead at night. Representing the mostly dark aspect of Parachutes plus the warm glow of the orange. :D As for AROBTTH it can work well as a morning or sunset album however I think it's more well suited for sunset. But really it's more of a cloudy day album for me so keep in mind when I say these things that I just mean before or after the sun sets, not like you'd get to see it in my ideal place to listen to AROBTTH :P Prob because the album cover is mostly white, it reminds me of a mainly cloudy day... Not much sun to see. A few tracks are definitelty best to listen to in the morning but overall I think this is an album meant to be listened to around 2 hours before sunset on a cloudy day :D My life been busy too which is why Im not on as much.... I know, Prospekt's March style EP would be epic. I love Viva for the sheer amount of songs that came from the era, I mean really the album was a 13 track album disguised as a 10 and there was pretty much enough content released during that era to make like 2 new full albums out of it including the leaked demos and all. Man I wish something like that would happen for all their other albums... just imagine hearing some of that leaked acoustic LP5 stuff :heart: I really like Everglow too. I didn't pay too much attention to the tour and everything and as someone said if you did you would see this coming but still I mean what a direction for Coldplay to be taking, a live acoustic feel for the single... I mean it blows me away. Honestly. Most times a single is edited for radio play to be shorter and they only turn up the bass/drums, bring more autotune etc... they did the complete opposite here. Amazing job by Coldplay, for this I am getting super excited for the EP and what kinda content will be on it Even more potential evidence for my 1 year anniversary prediction thing! Yep, and notice he said songs so there'll definitely be more than one.. So excited! I mean nowadays for an EP like this it's quite rare. It's making up for the lack of B sides in this era for sure! Totally epic. I'm still surprised they released it as a single though... I mean if they were looking for it to get popular (which they obviously weren't) they'd release something closer to the album single which is wayyyyyy more radio friendly than the single version ironically. The funny thing was I originally thought this song would include no drums and as it turns out there would be an official release by Coldplay with no drums in it... so I guess that's kinda awesome... I really love this version. Stripped down, heartfelt, and genuine. Really recalling Coldplay's earlier work here. The fans asked for it, they got it. Stripped down. Simple.

I honestly did not think this would happen at all. I heard talks of a Prospekt's March style EP for this album before, but I never thought it would actually happen... Super cool. Hoping for some new songs, and hoping they sound really diverse too... like the kind of stuff we were hoping would be on the actual record, but instead we got something poppier. Someone mentioned above the possibility of the songs that were left over because they were too poppy or rocky... I'd be interested in those songs too. I'm hoping for at least 4 new songs... I do guess this makes up for the lack of B-sides in this era. Guess Coldplay aren't done with giving us extra songs for each era after all! :D BTW, I really really dig the new Everglow... I am ultra surprised about their decision to, instead of release an even poppier version of it, actually take away all the poppiness and go with a live sound. A piano that sounds honestly played and isn't electronically fixed or edited, minor effects here and there with the guitar solo still being a thing, and also longer with that person talking at the end... Truly powerful. IMO, they actually went a little too stripped down.. I'd at least have liked some real drum sounds in place of the electronic ones that have now actually grown on me in the original version... oh well, this can only mean a good thing for Coldplay's new releases! With this release Coldplay have become truly unpredictable... on one hand they really went stripped down, but now I'm also hearing there's a collab with Chainsmokers going on... man I don't know what to believe with this band anymore... whatever they make I'm pretty sure it will be good! Note that they say this EP is coming out before the end of the year... is it possible it will be released on the same date that the album was released on, a kind of a one year anniversary of AHFOD kinda thing? (WHAT?!! AHFOD is already almost a year old?!! You've gotta be kidding me! Oh, how the time flies....) So yeah, super excited for this. hoping it turns out good!

A simple, stripped down, heartfelt, and melancholic masterpiece. To be honest this feels like a song that was meant to only be known by a few, only being put as a b side for the more adventurous Coldplay fans such as me. There's something special about you knowing that you're only one out of a select few knowing this hidden gem. Not overplayed on radio, or played at all even, not a massive top 40 hit with 2000 tracks only possible with computers... Sometimes, all you need is a piano and a voice. I know this song also has an acoustic and electric guitar, bass, and perhaps one synth thingy playing in the back, but my point still stands: a pure, honest voice with no auto tune singing genuine and relatable lyrics, layered with a minimalist background of soft piano and guitar... Don't get me wrong, I listened to recent top 40 hits and they are so much better than what was popular 9 months or so ago, but songs like these are completely missing, and almost rightfully so, as once again there's just something comforting, say least for me, about listening to a song relatively few know. I also like Coldplay's recent content, however I really do miss songs like this that where it is painfully hard to find any modern day acts that make this style of music anymore. I also do know there are relatively stripped down songs nowadays, however the problem with most of them that get popular is that they're still very overproduced with cleaning up any minor errors, and with putting the vocal way in front of everything (a great example is "Love Yourself", you'll hear what I mean, it almost ruins the song. Had it been less produced without unnecessary sounds in it, it would sound even better...) Holy, I got so swept up in that I totally forgot what I actually imagine while listening to the song! I will attempt to keep this short... I imagine one of two things with this song: a chilly winter night out in the country, or being in a nice humid room, having forgotten about the weight of the world and the hustle and bustle of life. I'd like to think these can be brought together, where you're looking from the room out into the country, glad that your not freezing! (Saying this as someone relatively quite resistant to cold does feel a bit weird... Over time, that's what Canada does to ya. :P... Maybe I don't mind it as much because it's all worth it when you get to the warm inside... :P half jk. Sometimes it can be quite refreshing, but in other cases you actually want to be cool for being in a hot place so long... Happened to me a few times) Id like to think this scene comes as a visual representation of the contrast between that synth in the background near the end of the song, which feels rather cold and distant, and the organic warmth of the real piano and guitars. These are usually the way I see organic vs electronic instruments, which is likely why Parachutes feels so warm to me, as compared to Ghost Stories which is cold, distant, smooth, and atmospheric. The colors I imagine with this song are black and dark red. Nothing too crazy going on here, although it is unique in that no other song gives me those colors. I know, this has been rather long. Be glad its over now, I sure am, it took a while on mobile. (Kept forgetting some bits on the way too, which got annoying...) EDIT: Just one more thing, this song also reminds me of Gravity, just warmer as opposed to it which is very cold for me. This song also feels more hopeful, while Gravity makes it feel like your world has came crashing down in highly dramatic fashion... I personally prefer Gravity and once said this song sounded like another inferior version of it. I'd just discovered the song then, and it's grown a lot ever since. Hi everyone! Sorry for not being on in a while. You'll be glad to know I won't be gone for forever this time :lol: My life has just been really busy recently and I couldn't find the time to come on almost at all. Be notified that this may continue. I'll put in my best efforts to come on and check on this place as much as possible however. Looks like there's been a bit of maintenance done here... Which, as the message that popped up when I first came on here for the first time in a while mentioned, resulted in the loss of my profile picture... I'm not sure "permanently" is the right word. It's not like for absolutely ever it's bad even after were long gone. But i do believe the levels are only getting worse. Look, I'd love for someone like that to win, and it would be EPIC if they did, but unfortunately it's either gonna be Clinton or Trump. Clinton is obviously the much better choice even though she isn't perfect, but no politician is. She's done a few bad things. But compared to Trump?? Noooo wayyyyyyyyyy... It's sad to see Trump actually have a chance at winning the election considering the back to back awful things he's done. Mom says in the morning she wakes up to hear Trump yet again do something awful. If it was a little kid being an idiot fine but we simply cannot take someone as disgusting as he is for President. And the fact that he isn't going to accept the results unless he wins... I'm really scared for Nov 8. Whichever one wins there is going to be ultimate extreme outrage from either side, who knows what'll happen.. we've gotten ourselves into really bad spot now. Really really hope he don't win. If he does our world can say goodbye because mark my words this is a country involved in everything globally and If the wrong leader gets in the world can say goodbye unfortunately...

Totally! My second fav from the album, and the third fav from the era! I used to not like the second part of the song (hopefully all of you know what I mean, I mean the part after where everything goes quiet then the song completely switches gears) but I adore it now, it sounds so epic and has really grown on me. It's Coldplay's Paranoid Android in my opinion, just shorter and obviously different...

That's quite weird. Once I almost thought like half my songs were gone as I noticed a ton of songs missing from Radiohead's albums and thought for a second I deleted them all by accident but it turned out I'd actually searched something up and forgot to get rid of the remaining letters in the search box as it dynamically narrows down the results in my library hence why half the songs seemed missing :D but this sounds different, only a few songs are missing and a whole album is glitched up... Very strange. Never had an actual problem before (although once I completely reset the data for "See You Again" so I almost thought I deleted it until I realized it was still there but all the tags were gone, so now sometime Ill have to go and add them all back which is mildly time consuming... :()

The advantages to being one are, for one, you get a really nice surprise when things go the right way so you get extra excited, and secondly, if things turn out as you expect you won't be as mad as if you were optimistic since you kept expectations low so you'd be less disappointed in the end. It's a win-win, really. Great style of thinking, at least in my mind. I sometimes wonder though, about the law of attraction potentially rendering this worse... it says you can make things happen just be really wishing for them and being optimistic. If this is true than pessimism is pointless! Still really iffy on it sometimes. If there's a lot of evidence going towards the good thing happening I'll be optimistic but naturally I tend to be a pessimist... When I came back from my 5 month break I think the counters must have broke or something because I had a very very low alerts count compared to what I was expecting. There was no way in the world I was going back and reading everything made and posted since then :D Yeah, it must have been a great feeling for someone to mention something other than the big hits! :) One of my brothers is a Coldplay fan actually too (he says he does only like some, and he is the type that doesn't like pop music as much so I'm assuming he'd be the type to be an "Oldplayer") He picked Warning Sign as a song he really liked. His girlfriend said she really loved Strawberry Swing. I loved it that they were choosing songs other than the obvious hits! I mean, the hits IMO are some of the best songs, that's why they're hits, they are sooooo good!!! But that doesn't exempt Coldplay from having hidden gems, and they surely do have some hidden gems. Glad I know a few people in real life, now that I think of it, that like at least some of Coldplay as well, and something other than just the big hits. :D That happens to me with Viva La Vida. The first time I heard it gave me this indescribable feeling that a few other songs give me. Now, I think I might have heard it too many times that I'm starting to be bored of it (this is a sad confession). However, I still remember that first time and it's a wonderful feeling that even if I haven't listened to the song like the first time I'll keep saying my favorite song is Viva La Vida. Well there is a reason Fix You is loved by so many people, including me. It is simply a masterpiece. Don't force yourself to feel boring or not like it because so many other people do. It is an amazing song, that's why so many people like it. Feel the emotion flow through yourself while listening to the song. That's why so many people like it. It's touched so many hearts including mine. Coldplay knows how to make songs that stay with nearly everyone. They're masters at it. Embrace it. :) Thank you!
