Doctor Who ???......
I really don't know whether to be happy or sad after that one. Both I guess. Testament to just how packed it all was that they didn't even have time to dwell on the real gut wrenchers. ^^Isn't writing in general technically the process of making it all up? Yeah, well at least there wasn't a Tinkerbell moment again this year. But at the same time there were so many little threads- way subtler than the bees- woven in through the whole season and back further all planned out so well. Need to watch again just to figure them out they go by so fast.

Asterix the Gaul

Doctor Who ???......
CT? Was that some sort of Freudian slip? That's actually one of the theories... even if it is a dumb one. Ah, the waiting is driving me mad. It's funny- I always try so hard to avoid spoilers, and they're everywhere. Now this time I'm looking everywhere because I just really need to know. I'll enjoy it so much more if I'm not a wreck watching it hoping they don't kill off half the cast like Torchwood did (I still feel a bit queasy when I think about that finale) But of course no one knows anything. They've gone the extra mile to keep it all secret (which is good, I guess) but it's killing me. Sure, if DT moves on it's normal he's the tenth and all. But the next guy won't be my doctor.

Kooks cover Coldplay on Radio 1
Aw, that was really, really good. :nice: I loved the way they arranged it and his voice was perfect for it.

Happy Canada Day
No, I've been spending most of my time building a garden for the last 3 days. Which mainly consists of hauling load after load of dirt up a steep hill all day until the fog rolls back in the in evening. Stupid fog. Also the reason I didn't bother to go down to the harbour for the fireworks this year. Oh well.

NME Live Review
From the NME, May 10th: (The Violet Hill issue) You see? It's not just Coldplay. In fact it's three of the most popular bands around here in that particular example. And if this is this guy's idea of being open-minded, I never want to see him on a bad day. I have a love/hate thing with the NME, in turns jealous that the Brits have a magazine like it, and annoyed at how schizophrenically narrow-minded it can be. And most of the British press is like that. Quite a bit of the American music press as well. It's not even that they don't like this thing or that thing, or they're prejudiced against ____. It's just that people who stir up mud in our current culture get column inches, and people who shrug and say "it's nice, I like it" don't make any noise at all. (Especially when those people download all their music so sales don't reflect what actually gets listened to :P) I mean this for several "look a bad review" threads like this: Take a deep breath, take it with a grain of salt, and get on with your life.

'WE HATE DARK CHOCOLATE' Thread (ALSO JOIN OUR GROUP!)
Interesting that most of the dark chocolate haters around here are guys... How can anyone not like chocolate?! Dark, light, bittersweet, white, it's all chocolate, and that's GOOD. :smug: As for me, (probably in the too much info category, but it supports my first point) it totally depends on what part of the month it is.

Doctor Who ???......
:laugh3: Tennant does seem to have that effect :wink3: (when he's not playing a psycho killer, anyway) ...But for the record, I saw him first. :P But to be serious, I doubt he's moving on. There's a half a dozen good ways out of this that have already been set up. I've only heard one credible theory for who the new Doctor could be, (David Morrisey) and it involves Tennant's doctor still being around. Was that episode you saw the one in 'The Library'? Because that's what aired last in America.

Happy Canada Day
Aww, thanks! :D It's a holiday... and it was the first sunny day in a week here. They're probably off at the beach or a picnic or watching fireworks or something.

Green Economy & Fair Trade Globe
I agree that loans in general aren't something to be sought after if they can be avoided- it's so easy to mortgage your whole life away. But the thing is, the people who use microcredit are the ones who have already been drawn into the market economy against their will and culture. And because they're coming into it with no real resources, defenses, or assets, they're being dropped in at the very bottom with no means of improving, in a system set up to only take from them and not give much of anything back. What something like microcredit does is give them a starting point- a resource they can turn to so they at least have a fighting chance. It means that unlike a handout, the person must have initiative to go get it, and by committing to pay it back motivation to make good use of it. That hypothetical woman you talked about didn't have any options before. Now she does. Even if it is far from perfect, at least it's a start. And statistics show that many women like her have completely transformed their lives for the better in a way that wasn't possible for them before.

Green Economy & Fair Trade Globe
A beautiful dream. Even if, hope beyond all hope, this perfect world were possible, any system no matter how finely tuned will eventually break down. Eventually there has to be a human with power somewhere in the system, which means human nature will always run it's course in the end. Still doesn't mean it isn't worth trying for and fighting for, though. I agree with Saffire about microfinance, though. People always seem to do best when you get them involved and give them some responsibility for their fate rather than handouts. I wish I could find it again, I remember seeing something on tv about a foundation that creates useful inventions for the world's poor. For instance an irrigation system for farms that's actually just a special type of inexpensive foot pump. It was the first time it had ever occurred to me that maybe just having better tools would help, and that no one's though of making simple inexpensive things for the people who need them most.

The Coldplay public enemy list.
What a weird thread. But I don't believe in holding grudges at all, so I guess it goes against my nature to begin with. But still. I don't think it's the sort of thing the band would do.

How Big Are CP In The US
On a scale of 1 to 10, the Beatles being 10 and U2 being about an 8, I'd say Coldplay are about a 7. 7.5 if they keep at it on the same scale for a few more years (only 4 albums so far) easily and 8 if they someday release another significant album.

List some things that you have always wanted to do
Already done that. It's nothing to write home about. Well, I suppose technically it is something you ought to write home about if you're away, but it's nothing constructive to write home about. And the scar itches and aches all the freaking time. :(
