Indeed. :confused::worried:

Arena's vs Stadiums
Even U2 makes a point to stick to arenas from what I understand. All playing a stadium means is that 90% of the seats kind of suck. Especially if you're used to being up at the front in little clubs.

Viva La Vida hits number one: Your Reactions?
My reaction is that there's already a thread for this... http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=47161 ;) Good song to do it with, though.

A Problem with the VLVODAAHF Vinyl
By that logic shouldn't singles suffer pretty badly then, since they're small? I dunno I have some records that go in pretty close to the middle, I listen with good headphones, and don't notice anything. *shrug* Maybe it just makes it sound vinyl-y.

check out the iTunes international chart
Wow! Good job guys. :D Sales mean nothing really, but still, something nice to remember the next time I'm arguing with another hater- they always seem to yell loudest, but it's nice to remember how many people there are who agree with me.

Sixth foot found in B.C. leaves everyone baffled
Sixth foot found in B.C. leaves everyone baffled and at loss for explanation http://canadianpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5hC7ryzYR-RVXhCOXJ_FRdOVwp2BQ VANCOUVER — Experts from police to forensic pathologists are at a loss to explain, or even identify, who belongs to six different feet that have washed ashore in British Columbia since last August. Another foot was discovered Wednesday near Campbell River, on Vancouver Island, bringing to six the number of feet found, disembodied and still encased in a running shoe. So far, DNA testing hasn't helped identify the remains and the absence of explanation has fed wild rumours. ...Some are convinced the feet are the work of organized crime and still others believe the victims were illegal stowaways thrown overboard at sea. The story has generated growing interest worldwide with the discovery of each succeeding foot. Stories have been written for or picked up by the BBC, Fox News, CNN, the Associated Press and many others. The six feet, while not yet identified, do have some common characteristics: All have been found inside running shoes, buoyant because of their thick, air-filled soles. Police have released few details on the sixth and fifth feet, but the other four showed signs of disarticulation, which means the foot separated naturally from the leg, not through severing that would prompt speculation of foul play. The location of the finds has prompted ocean current experts to suggest that the feet all could have been washed down the mighty Fraser River. There has been rampant speculation that at least some of the feet might belong to the four victims of a light plane crash off the B.C. coast more than three years ago. Four of the five people in the plane were never found. The coroner has taken DNA samples from relatives of those four men but no matches have been made so far. There is no shortage of possibilities. The latest statistics from the RCMP in B.C. show more than 2,300 people have been reported missing. The first right foot was found Aug. 20 on Jedidiah Island in the Strait of Georgia. On Aug. 26, another right foot was found inside a man's size 12 Reebok sneaker on nearby Gabriola Island. A third was found in the same area, on the east side of Valdez Island, on Feb. 8. The fourth foot was found May 22 on Kirkland Island in the Fraser River, only a kilometre away from the site in Ladner, along the same river where the fifth foot was found on Monday. The fifth foot - the first left foot - was inside a size 10 black Adidas running shoe. RCMP Sgt. Mike Tresoor said the latest foot was found on Tyee Spit in a size 10 black Adidas running shoe. "The object will ultimately be examined by a forensic pathologist in attempts to determine the source of the foot and if it is related to other feet recently found," Tresoor said in a statement. Earlier this week, chief coroner Terry Smith said his office has DNA profiles from the first three of the feet. But Smith said that so far the DNA samples taken from the feet have not been able to be matched with any known samples to determine identities.

Small Reminders/Updates & The Coldplay Messenger (feat. Roadie #42!)
Miller makes the most sense. He's the one with all the camera who likes to document everything. Never been as big on Guy as some of the loons on here over the years, but.... :speechless: I dare you girls to still say you still don't like that hair and that earring. :P

Coldplay accused of copying 'Viva La Vida' melody
"As for the NYC show, Hoepfner says he is not sure if he saw Martin in the crowd that day. He adds that when he went to England, he saw a lot of people that looked like Martin. "I think that's just what British people look like," he laughs." :laugh3: Maybe there's just quite a few people all over the place who look like that. The first time I ever laid eyes on Chris I liked him instantly because he reminded me of the guy I had a crush on all through highschool. They looked a fair bit alike, they act somewhat alike, and they even hunch over the piano the same way when they're playing. ...Wait a minute, come to think of it he was born in London- his family moved to Canada when he was a kid. :stunned:

Fair enough. Clearly we have vastly different opinions of what the show ought to be like. ...But http://io9.com/5017009/best-doctor-who-episode-of-the-year I http://blogs.thestage.co.uk/tvtoday/2008/06/doctor-who-410-midnight/ am http://www.syfyportal.com/news425131.html so http://www.flickfilosopher.com/blog/2008/06/doctor_who_notblogging_midnigh.html winning. http://tv.ign.com/articles/882/882162p1.html :P

COLDPLAY PLAGIARIZED GOD PUT A SMILE????????
Plagiarized? Whatever gave you that idea? Seriously though, if you look up other versions of that song they're quite different. That one just sounds the way it does (freakishly so) because of the style it's been arranged in. My guitar teacher played like that all the time. The song was written sometime before 1966 according to wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toquinho It's a chord/bass sequence that moves down one step at a time. It's going to co-incidentally pop up like that from time to time. As illustrated by the beginning bit of the first link I posted. edit: ooh, check out this version:

Johnny Rotten Slams 'Humourless' Coldplay
"If a book on the Sex Pistols had an upraised middle finger on the cover, it wouldn't need any words inside." -Roger Ebert (of all people...) So again, why on earth are people getting upset? It's Jonny Rotten. It's what he does. Are there really that many people around here who don't get punk or know who he is? This is the guy you're getting upset about. (It's very funny btw) The best (and most healthy) thing to do is roll your eyes, have a little chuckle, and get on with your life.

Doctor Who ???......
Uh... yeah there was. And the fact that I have to explain it is in a nutshell why most visual-based scifi sucks- because even something with as classic a plot as this has to be spoon-fed for some people to 'get it' long after every one else has figured it out and moved on. And because with a plot like this if it was any less ambiguous, it wouldn't be as scary anymore. The shadow creatures lost a lot of their oomph when they were all explained away for example. Yes it was nice to know, but it made them seem more ordinary. I hate having my scifi spoon-fed. I like that there were two possible answers. It gives me something to think about later. And believe me I have been. Here's a hint, though. See if you can figure it out- there's clues all through the episode. On both the big scale and the small scale, the real monsters are the humans. Or as C. S. Lewis once put it: "I look forward with horror to contact with the other inhabited planets, if there are such. We would only transport to them all of our sin...and establish a new colonialism."

The funniest thing ive read in ages...
^Check the timestamp. This thread is from 2002. I think the quote is from about 2001. It's on youtube somewhere. Um, no. Have you heard Kid A? It's pretty out there- completely different from anything they had done before it. It was supposed to be career suicide at the time (even though it went to #1 in America). Not many bands would even be willing to try what they did, let alone know how to do it.

The funniest thing ive read in ages...
Coldplay (and many other bands) "copied" Radiohead's sound from The Bends and OK Computer. He means good luck trying to figure Kid A out- sort of assuming no one would try.

Doctor Who ???......
Funny (not), I wasn't laughing at all. I was more like this the whole time-->:stunned::stunned::shocked2: Scary stuff. I had to pause in the middle and go away for a bit it was so tense. I thought it was brilliant writing- all just sound and acting, no silly cgi monsters. And a pretty accurate portrayal of how mass hysteria like that works, from what I understand.

I'd say the world needs A&R people now more than ever. It's the nature of the job that's shifting a bit. ;)

Pitchfork review of VLVODAAHF
Wow 6.5... their highest mark in the past was a 5.3 for Parachutes. AND they actually liked the music somewhat (for Pitchfork) - it was the lyrics that brought it down that low. For those unfamiliar with Pitchfork, they review everything but their focus is on obscure avant-guard indie music. It's sort of their mission statement to promote things no sensible person could listen to for very long at a time. If an obscure band's music is mind-blowing by their criteria (or it's Radiohead, who they love) it will get a high mark. If a band is mainstream, it will automatically be marked down. A good rule of thumb is that if a mark is below 7, add two points (so VLV would be 8.5), below 9 add one, and above 9 subtract one. That should give you a better picture of how much you might like the album.

News from the EMI / Warner Music / Parlophone / Atlantic Records shakeup...
EMI is paying for the marketing team. I think Chris was referring to certain people (not necessarily in marketing) in the company that they still really liked working with as his "Grandmother". Not that they'll be around for much longer. :dozey: They still have to take the 'big label approach' even if it's with different people running it because they're still at a 'big label'.
-
Why ?
No, I think it's universal. And the most annoying thing is that sometimes they went out with that person because they got tired of waiting for the other more decent person to ask. It's right up there with why do all the really kind, intelligent, interesting guys always go out with the dumbest most vapid bimbos on the face of the planet? Don't they get tired of life with someone who can't put two thoughts together? Don't they realise how much of a strain it is for their friends to put up with women like that?
