Game - Intros 2008
*poke* Hey Dave, are you ever going to tell us what the rest of them are? They're still driving me crazy, and I'm pretty sure I haven't heard them before. Especially #1. I've looked everywhere for #1, I've run out of ideas, and I'm dying to know what the rest of the song sounds like. Actually, I've probably got such a huge mental image of what it might be like by this point that nothing could ever live up to it, but all the same, please?

Back? Who's back? Me? I never left. Though I have been too distracted lately to have much to say lately.

The Mirror: Chris Martin reveals sewing is key to Coldplay's success
:laugh3: Yep, classic Chris. Don't you just love how tabloids suddenly freak out over stories that were everywhere else months ago? :dozey:

The teardrop in your eye
:nice: That's my favorite Massive Attack song. Though I don't think it's sad... it's always like a fresh gust of wind for me. The moment something changes.

Beijing Games come up short on soul
Well from a country euphorically rejoicing at a mere 3 golds, I say spontaneity isn't spontaneous if it's rehearsed. It was fun enough at events, but a lot of the little random things that made past Olympics special weren't there. And now they can go back to crushing Falun Gong and ripping out Christian fingernails in peace. :(

College Presidents Get Drinking Age Debate
It's 19 here. I think that's a good age. At 18 there's still enough immaturity to wind up with some of the binge-drinking problems Britain is having. At 21 since college kids can't get into bars they go out in the woods and drink themselves stupid because there's nothing to encourage responsible drinking. At 19, they've had a little bit of time in the real world before they're unleashed in the liquor store, but they can go have an evening out, have a couple of drinks, and make it home in one piece because they were in an environment where responsible drinking can take place. Yeah, there's still lots of problems and there always will be as long as kids that age are away at school together. But at least with it legal you can teach, guide and limit rather that just saying it's banned.

Russia May Focus on Pro-U.S. Ukraine After Georgia
*cough* Right-wingers, at least extreme ones always accuse CNN of being a biased, manipulative left-wing mouth-piece. Left wingers always accuse it of being a biased, manipulative right-wing mouthpiece. Personally, I think that's pretty good proof that it's somewhat neutral, at least by polarized American standards. However it is still manipulative, sensationalistic and just plain shouty, and generally bad for anyone's mental health.

[Article] Coldplay Takes On The Pope
Don't you just love it when some random journalist writes a thesis about one line without bothering to listen to the whole song to find out what it's actually about? :dozey:

Coldplay: The Beatles of our Generation?
No, not at all. Our generation isn't capable of having our own Beatles. Coldplay do tick one or two of the boxes, but there are a lot of boxes to tick. A new Beatles could only happen in an emerging genre where there is a lot of room for innovation and in a world that hasn't had it's tastes split up and polarized by the internet.

New EP March 2009
I posted this in the etalk thread too, but here's a transcript of what they actually said. Hope it clears things up a little. TK - I also heard, I heard through the grapevine that you've got material for your next album alredy? CM - Yeah, but it's terrible BM - Oh come on CM - No, it is terrible. I just was... we were going through it last night. We were a little uh, overeager about that. *laughs* We need to do some more work. BM - Now if the first three albums were seen as a trilogy to you, what does Viva La Vida mean? Is it a standalone? Is it the beggining of another Coldplay trilogy? CM - I think uh,... that's a question for Jonny. JB - I yeah, I've no idea. I don't think we knew it was going to be a trilogy until we did the three, so... CM - yeah JB - I don't think we'll know until we've done any more. CM - We'll keep playing as long as people turn up. BM - We know there's going to be another album after this one, right? CM - This is boring, but we're going to do an EP in March, which we've finished, yeah. We just finished it like, yesterday. And it's not too bad. *laughs*

Ok, here's a transcript for the actual questions about the ep: TK - I also heard, I heard through the grapevine that you've got material for your next album alredy? eTalk Interview - Toronto July 31st (Pictures Added!)
The whole interview is up on the etalk website now: http://watch.ctv.ca/etalk/this-week/coldplay-live-at-etalk-july-31-2008/ Sorry, I don't know if that works outside of Canada or not. It has in the past, I think, but they've changed it a little bit since then.

eTalk Interview - Toronto July 31st (Pictures Added!)
^^That's so great! :D Not really, it sounded like it was made from the remnants of what would have been the next album which they aren't so sure about now. But Chris is too negative about everything, so it's hard to tell.

eTalk Interview - Toronto July 31st (Pictures Added!)
:laugh3::laugh3::laugh3: Was he still eye-wrenchingly radioactive orange in person? Chris made fun of his hair at the bakery apparently and the quote became a running joke. Sort of like the time Michael Buble laughed at the orange for an entire interview.

eTalk Interview - Toronto July 31st (Pictures Added!)
It just aired. Clearly wasn't quite live- the Atlantic Canada version aired an hour before the national HD one, just like it always does. (Different time zone). Think I saw a coldplayer I recognized in the audience, but I'm not sure. Squeak up if you were there! ;) Oh, and big news. Chris said they were working on the next album yesterday and (go figure) had changed their minds about how good some of the songs were. So that's up in the air, but There will be an ep in March!!! :o And it's finished as of yesterday!!

The Tour De France Thread
Dude. :shocked2: You sir, are my hero. Wow. My dad used to race too. He still rides nearly every day. I hate to even think about the crashes- I've seen him have too many nasty ones.

Left or Right Handed?
He's left handed. Seen it with my own eyes.

Left or Right Handed?
I'm not sure what to put. I learned to write right handed, but everything else I can do ambidextrously, or sometimes even just left handed. I guess I'd go with slightly right. Not the studies I've read. It's true, perception (feelings and senses) is based in the right side of the brain, which controls the left hand, and judgment (logic and verbal skills) is based in the left side of the brain which controls the right hand. But anything I've read said that in spite of the theory that is true, right and left handedness has very little to do with whether you are right- or left-brain dominant. It sounds like you're both right brain dominant as well as left handed. My dad is left handed and yet he doesn't understand anything that doesn't involve math.

The Foals Thread
Well the righteous punk excuse won't work here... it's pure dumb thuggery. Makes me slightly ill that it would still happen like that. Probably not ill enough. Good for Ricky Wilson and the Foals for looking after Kele.

Viva La Vida out of the Mercury Shortlist
Good year, good music, only 12 spots. I hope they don't feel snubbed, they shouldn't. BURIAL!!! :D (And I'm sure Thom would agree :smug:)

Latest ALBUM MEANING?
He's talked about it in dozens of interviews, explaining it in several different ways. And the lyrics do kind of speak for themselves. Actually I bet you there are at least 4 or 5 legitimate ways you could interpret it. Take a chill pill guys.

Latest ALBUM MEANING?
^^Dude, it's using a surface story about a Napoleon clone as a metaphor for a failed relationship. Both interpretations work and have been endorsed by the band.
