Coldplay can't spell. Its called Lhuna!
Ok, having researched it before (Tim Rice-Oxley himself even posted about it on the Keene boards before when the story was first going around) as I understand it Chris Martin and the Coldplay guys went to college with both Tim Crompton and Tim Rice-Oxley, and Chris was friends with both of them. Both Tims had their own bands: Coldplay and Cherry Keane (later just Keane) respectively. When Coldplay decided their name (from a book of poetry) was too depressing Chris asked TC if he could use it for his band. At some point in time Chris had also asked TR-O to come play keyboards with him, but that Tim said he preferred to stick with his current band (wise choice it turned out). Because they are both named Tim, lazy journalists frequently assume that the two Tims are the same person, even though they aren't. It makes for a better story, but just proves the journalists are lazy. Clear as mud? :P

The 2008 Mercury Prize
Burial FTW!!! :D It's a gorgeous album. Very different, but gorgeous. I think that unlike X&Y, VLV is going to be remembered much more fondly than it was received. My opinion of it now is already much higher than it was when it came out.

COLDPLAY - COLDPLAY PULL PLUG ON TOUR MERCHANDISE
Goodness. I think I paid about $30 (maybe $35) for my t-shirt. Even that is too much. And mine shrunk too much to wear the first time I washed it. *sigh* Good on them for taking a little bit of a stand.

Faceless 'aliens' spotted in crowd at Wimbledon!!
Apparently it's a viral ad campaign for some luxury car company. And yes, it is straight out of Doctor Who- near the end of the second season, to be exact. I liked that one. Looks like the Wire has been snacking again...

Coldplay Fan Survey (it will only take a minute)
1. First related Coldplay memory? On Roswell, the TV series, one of the last scenes in the season 2 finale was of a burning car going over a cliff while Trouble was playing. The song haunted me for weeks afterwards, though it took another year and a half to find out who the song was by. 2. Have you ever seen the band live in concert, if so where? Connecticut - Summer 2005 (big road trip) and Halifax April 2006 at the Juno awards (If one song counts...) 3.a Favorite Coldplay album? AROBTTH b. Favorite Coldplay song? Shiver and Clocks c. Favorite Coldplay video? The Scientist 4. Most treasured Coldplay item in your collection? My copy of AROBTTH because Chris signed it for me. Distantly followed by my singles box set. 5. What was your craziest fanatic moment regarding Coldplay (ie. did you have to go at great lengths to see them live? did you do something really dramatic to defend Coldplay? etc etc.) Paying nearly $200 for award show pit tickets to see the band play one song. Though it was totally worth it: see #4 :D The big road trip to Connecticut probably ranks up there too.

Does anyone here besides me just wanna rock out to Coldplay sometimes?
I don't rock out to Coldplay, but I do sing along to every song at the top of my lungs when it won't annoy anyone around me. Really helps that Chris' high range he usually sings in is exactly my middle range. :nice:

Doctor Who ???......
...If you don't mind the part that he used to be a dead hand and is prone to speaking like Donna... ...jealous? What do you mean jealous. What would ever give you that impression? :laugh3:

help me??
Sounds like an inverted version of clocks. Very often when a studio/company/ad firm wants to use a certain song in an ad and can't get the rights to it they will commission someone to write something that sounds very similar but just different enough so they won't get sued. I think that may be what happened here.

Doctor Who ???......

This is terrible.
Sounds like you need a vacation from America. I lived in New England for a year not long after 9/11... one of the biggest reasons I left was because the media there profoundly scared me. It really did feel like living in the Twilight Zone- everything is so over the top. I was very relieved to find out everything was still relatively normal when I got home and scanned the local newspaper.
