  1. You're welcome. :) But I have to ask, although I love it here, what's so sweet about being from Nova Scotia? Is it all the fog and the cold, cold, wet rain, or the fact that I'll probably never see Snow Patrol live because the nearest city they would play in is about a 12 hour drive away? :P Heehee... don't mind me.. I'm sulking. But amused. ;)

    mine too :D
  3. England of course :P ;)
  4. They played some songs for the BBC last week. Their accoustic version of Chasing Cars was phenominal. http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/events/hub/snowpatrol_gallery.shtml Did anyone manage to get it recorded by any chance?
  5. I saw that concert- it was awesome! (And so were Bedouin Soundclash... but of course that song is one of my favorites...) You should have come :P It was kind of weird, really. It was more like watching someone else's family reunion than a concert, because they were all so happy that they were actually all there playing together. I guess that doesn't happen much. The most surreal part had to be watching Amy from Stars and Feist back to back playing air guitar together. They were having a blast.

I have a stuffed psyduck... :uhoh: It's because the blank stare makes me laugh... honest...
  7. With all the soccer/football/whatever you want to call it talk in here, I wonder... Would you think it is crazy to consider myself a big fan of England if I don't even follow soccer except during the world cup?
  8. If I became a stereotype..... ....I would weep for my generation. :dozey: Actually, to be serious, it already happened to me. I've been a huge Tolkien fan for most of my life. It was the imaginary world I could always run away to. My parents got me into the books, but it was rare that I found anyone else who cared about them at all. It was my thing. Then those stupid movies came out and ruined everything. "Ringers" as we were now called seemed to be coming out of the woodwork everywhere. What was once the world of geeky fanboys who liked cool swords was invaded by bubbleheaded girls with a thing for a certain blonde elf. *gag me  * Entire articles were being written about how it is suddenly 'cool' to be a geek. (Bah. Coolness is overrated. I liked being an outcast. ) And you know what? I loved it in spite of myself. For a brief moment of time, there were other people who really liked the sort of stuff I did, and they were everywhere. There were actually other people who had slogged through all seven or so of the Wheel of Time books and who knew what the Prydain Chronicles were. But so many things I cherished were suddenly ripped into this mass merchandising machine. I had to see characters I loved turned into Burger King's equivalent of the Happy Meal. Gollum impressions were no longer a private family joke. Saying that the Lord of the Rings was my favorite book was usually met with groans. I can't wear my cloak in public anymore. Instead of saying "nice cape", people ask me if I'm being a hobbit. :( Did I change because of it? Yeah. I eventually stopped reading fantasy and got into music instead. I loved the ride, but everything kind of got tarnished. Maybe someday I can really go back again, but it won't be for awhile yet. Too many people invaded my world.
  9. Well that happened too... it was stuck in my head for hours afterward, over and over. That's why I had to find them... I would have gone crazy if I didn't!
  10. I think I've read this before, but thanks. This has alot of really interesting stuff in it. If I remeber right, this is the article where I found out that they used to use a pump organ... i'd never even noticed it! :D
  11. What's that from? Some sort of student loan application?
  12. I can be very cynical when it comes to local bands, so I never gave these guys a chance. I'm regretting it now... My ultimate test for a song I like is if I hear it with no idea who it was by or where it came from and really like it. I was listening to the radio yesterday, and they started playing this amazing song. It sounded a little Coldplay-ish, but different too. I couldn't get over it, but I missed hearing who it was by. I tried to figure out who it might have been and remembered this band In Flight Safety. It turned out to be their song Surround! Wow... just wow. I like :stunned: :D
  13. I heard them on my college's radio station once... I was so busy laughing at the name that I never even noticed what they sounded like.
  14. I don't want it to sound like I'm condoning the consumption of alcohol because I'm not, but wow... Guy and Jonny are really cute when they're drunk! I don't think Joanna is pregnant; that type of dress that she's wearing, with the flowy pouffy thing going on and the high waistline could make a toothpick look pregnant. I don't see why they're in style, they don't do most figures any favors. Honestly, I think in that one shot, the material might have been stuck on Guy's blazer.

  16. re: that article, I think that to a big extent, the "ice queen" label comes from her having a bit of a Mr. Darcy thing going on. Her priorities are in the right place- with her family instead of the attention seeking media suck-up crowd, and because that's what matters to her now, it annoys those sorts of "journalists" (and I use that term lightly.)
  17. I was listening to Muse, and was kind of sleepy, so I wasn't really following along. All of a sudden while listening to 'Hyper Music' I was like: "Hey... he's playing 'Clocks' on his guitar... ...I wonder why... ..... WAIT A MINUTE!!!!" Way back in ezine #6 on pg. 5, Chris had mentioned that Clocks had been inspired by Muse, and I have always wondered which song it was. I had figured it was something like 'Sunburn' or 'Bliss' that had the piano in it. But if you listen to the guitar part in 'Hyper Music' starting at about 2:15 and going to about 2:30 where he sings "who really cares anymore/who restrains" it sounds exactly like the piano line from Clocks, especially on the second run through the chords. Any thoughts? Am I just hearing things? Might Chris have actually gotten it from here? Am I just crazy?
  18. I know a family with 8 kids- not quite 10 but close. The thing is, by the time the younger ones are born, the older ones are old enough to help out, so every one in the family pitches in and it's not so much of a strain on the parents. They still have time for thier own things too, and in a way they have it good, because no one ever get lonely like in small families.
  19. Well I just had one big dream come true, I met Chris Martin. Other than that, in the grand scheme of things, I have many daydreams, but few useful ones. Maybe that's part of the reason I don't know what to do with my life...
  20. I finally awhile back resigned myself to the fact that I would never in any way, shape, or form be cool- either by fitting in or being different. I can't do either properly. I just try to go with what works for who I am though mainstream or otherwise, and to never lose my sense of wonder. Because in the end, what's the point in fitting into any category if you've lost that?
  21. In the end, a real life friend is someone you can tacklehug if you really need to, so in that way, real life friends kind of win out, although I have known people who have had really close meaningful friendships online. But like sniggirb my real life best friend is autumnjoy, who is the one who got me addicted to this board in the first place, so that kind of cancels out the question for me, I guess. I've met online friends in real life before. It's weird, because you aren't used to their voice or gestures or anything yet, but it's like you've known them all your life. Within minutes we fell into being old friends- no akwardness. But over time, it was like getting to know a new person after all, because their online persona was only one facet of who they were, and the other sides came out eventually.
  22. *grins at pic* Now I'm really wishing I could have made it out sooner... oh well. Wanna know a really weird story? That spot right where they're standing is where you cross the street from the parking garage, and it's one of the steepest hills in the city. When I was little, I used to be terrified that if I tripped I would fall down the hill into the harbour and break my neck. My dad would have to carry me across the street and I used to have nightmares about it. Those things always look bigger to little kids. So I see that pic for the first time, and Chris is standing right in front of one of my big childhood nighmares! I think my head exploded! Weird, eh?
  23. Thanks for putting that together, Winnie
  24. Oi... I feel your pain... those can be funny, but never fun. Try sugar. Just a small spoonful of regular white granulated sugar. It's supposed to make some sort of a chemical reaction that resets the nerves in your throat causing the hiccups or something like that. All I know is that it works for me.
