  1. Ooh, nice. :D I have the actual numbers and symbols half done... but then school got in the way up until last week. What program did you use?
  2. :laugh3: My little nephew says that all the time. :nice: And good for Montreal.
  3. ^No. I don't like poker. :P And I'm broke. Hearts I'm ok at though, how about Hearts? :shy:
  4. ^:laugh3: I couldn't lie if I wanted to. I can't even play poker without gigglefits. :disappointed:
  5. Sometimes, but not usually (unless they're second hand.) I really should more. I'm pretty sensitive to some of the chemicals they put on them. (Like formaldehyde. :wtf:)
  6. Holy crap it's been a long time since anything gave me the heebie jeebies that thoroughly. I still feel like I have cobwebs all over me an hour later. :sweatdrop: And River Song is amazing. Best ep in a while.
  7. That's not crazy at all. If you're going to read anyone's reviews you should read enough of them to understand where that person or publication is coming from because they have biases and styles whether they want to or not. Reading other reviews, especially the negative ones lets you see what those biases are and where exactly it is they are coming from. Look at what pitckfork wrote about Viva era stuff. It has low marks, but it's actally very high for a mainstream accessable album for Pitchfork. And then you compare what they say to other reviews and you realize what they're saying about Viva is practically glowing compared to other mainstream reviews. But most people would look at that 60 and think they didn't like it.
  8. :laugh3: They had to move the island. That's how they got there. :uhoh:
  9. God

People who say that their denomination drove them away from God always make me sad. I guess I've always thought it's better to walk away from your church and hold onto what you believe in and your relationship with God than to let denominational crap eat away at your faith until there's nothing left. Funny... I've been doing a fair bit of research into what I can comprehend of astrophysics lately, and it just constantly reinforces my belief in God and creation. (Though I gave up on the young earth dogma a while ago...) It doesn't matter where the science ends up- science is the observations of the results. Whether you believe those results are caused by chance or design is the interpretation of the results.
  10. The best way to go about species names, so that you don't just get variations of "Zog" is to think of your aliens from their own perspective: how do they see themselves, and from the people being invaded: what are the first things that humans would notice about them? Now are you aliens announcing their name, or is it something the humans are calling them? If the former, what sort of sounds does their language make? How would some variation of "the people" or "the warriors" or something they associate with themselves sound in their language? If it's something that the humans are calling them, then what sort of a nickname would people start giving them based on what they're like? Or if you want to get really fancy, look that name up in latin or the language of the country that gave them the nickname. Form following function always makes a story better and more believable.
  11. I think Des will be fine. Locke said that well was dug on top of an electromagnetic pocket and we already know Desmond reacts strangely to them. It's interesting though. I think smokey wants people to be afraid of him. Like he likes it or needs it. He was so enraged when Desmond wasn't. Which kind of goes back to the beginning, really. When the monster was a strange deadly thing far away that represented fear... I may sound like a broken record here, but have you ever watched "The Prisoner"? The one with Patrick McGoohan? It's much shorter and set in the 60's, but every bit as clever and awesome.
  12. I still think they would make a good curling team. They have the right number at least: four and an alternate. But which one would be the skip?
  13. Heya Tracie :D Nice to see you back. Um, news... Did you ever read Angie's surreal account of sharing a Hotel with Coldplay in Mexico? http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68510 And there were Christmas presents. This one was mine: :shocked2: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62303
  14. Well I'm off for the night. If worst-case scenario anyone wants to get a hold of me later, here's my spam address. I'll see about getting my MSN (at another account) booted up again if necessary.

A repost: I'm confused as anything. And panicking, because the very thought of my online home shutting down is terrifying to me. So I'll stay out of it all until I calm down, and I'll just say this in case nothing is here when I come back: I still think this is the most wonderful board on the internet with some of the most wonderful people I have ever had the honour of knowing. There is a great many of you that I love dearly (although I may never have spoken to you directly as often as I probably should have) and you have change my life and my view of the world over the last few years more than you could possibly realize. I hope we can all stay in touch whatever happens, but I'm bad at staying in touch with people. That's why I use a forum. I've done the albums of the year for 3 years now. I was really looking forward to the 2010 edition. I can't do it without the people here and without this board. We still haven't heard what happened on the albums of the decade poll, and there are more than 50 contributers who deserve to find out what happened there. To lose all of this would be to cut the ties that bind a community. There's a beautiful piece of artwork sitting in my room because of this community. (Thanks Aniskywalker) There's a live album I'd lost hope of owning. There's a hundred CD's I might not have gotten into without the people here. When there's an earthquake, my first thought has often been who do I know on the board that was there? Are they OK? This community has been my window to the world. Ian's put so much into this for so long. I'm grateful, dude. My life would be so different if it wasn't for you. If this place disappears tomorrow, I'll be devastated and confused and hurt, but still grateful. If this panic is all a load of hooey, I think all of this needs to be said because it doesn't get said enough. THANK-YOU!

Good point. But I have a massive chunk of my life floating around on this forum and I'd like to save some of it from oblivion if it's going to be dissappeared. And it's freaking hard because I'm going through the old Juno thread of when I met Chris Martin now to save my and Joy's accounts of the night and pictures and things, and I'm almost crying because of all the posting Nettie did in it and she's dead now and I can't handle the thought of the last little ghost of her being alive and well and friendly being gone.

It's the best forum on the interwebz. I didn't put my sweat blood and tears into it for no reason. And no minor scuffles are going to change that.

    I protest Lore. :bigcry:

But... I'll be homeless. :( How will I do albums of the year again? How will I access the old ones? Say it ain't so. Please say today is some sort of bizarre joke. I clearly missed something big.

    Wait what? *panic* :stunned:
