  1. ^ The problem with blocking: people still quote them anyway. :inquisitive: *sigh*. Lovely is as lovely does.
  2. True, this place does seem to go through two or three year cycles based on when new albums and tours bring in new members and how long it takes them to get settled. But rude is rude, and it has traditionally been at least a bit nicer around here. Good grief that thing is scary! :laugh3:
  3. Whatever you say, Mr. Sunshine. :P *blocks* Now, where was I? Oh right, toblerone... mmm....
  4. Toblerone :nice: Ooh, anyone ever have the one of the Toblerones with the white chocolate tips so it looks like snow covered mountains? Those were good.
  5. Hey, when middle class slacker Americans who can't find work finally reach a point where they're willing to do nasty jobs for very little money and still be thankful for them, then this conversation will have merit. Until that time, Americans will have priced themselves out of the job market anyway. As long as there is inequality, there will people willing to give up everything for hope. That's a force far stronger than any laws or fences.
  6. Romantic. :p Ah, I love Baroque music- in the right quantities at the right time. Otherwise it makes me kind of hyper. But I love the depth and layers that the counterpoint makes. It's like watching whole worlds open up in your mind. I was raised on classical music in the broad sense but for some reason could never really get in to classical-era music the way I could Romantic-era music. I guess it was just too fussy for me.
  7. crap, that channel is blocked on our tv because it costs extra. :( Oh well, at least I still have the old low def broadcast recorded.
  8. ^^ Followed by many others besides... ^Thanks, I'll have to look those up. :nice:
  9. heh. Sad, but true. The kind of negativity that has been infecting almost every thread on this board lately hurts and annoys lurkers and bystanders just as much as the active arguers. I'm glad it's reached a tipping point. The style has been much more bitter and profane lately than normally, and frankly it's gotten on my last nerve. I've tried to ignore it for a very long time. I tried to be a bit glib about it. Still not working. Guess they're too thick to 'get it'. Now that the admin are involved (thank goodness) I guess I'll just have to start setting people to ignore and making a point to log in more when I'm here. But a couple of nasty negative comments can take all the joy out of a thread even when the perpetrators are set to ignore. This is the last I'll say on the subject.
  10. ^There always are. Have to put limits somewhere or it would be dominated by old content...
  11. No, sorry. :p ;) edit: There, added you. That's quite the list... any particular recommendations?
  12. I'll be glad when the current round is done.
  13. Hooray! :nice: It's a sticky thread of..... Stickyness.

Still in school. Career student apparently; I couldn't make my mind up about anything for the longest time. :shame: But I finally found something I like and I'm good at: fixing things. :idea2: I'm currently studying electronics, and I love it. :D
  15. Briggins! This better not be another one of your I'm leaving for the sake of it for a while cause I feel like it posts. :P ...or I shall be very cross. :disappointed: What fun is breaking through layers when they're made of poo? :sick2:
  16. :sleeping2: Interesting opinion piece: http://www2.macleans.ca/2009/09/24/the-trouble-with-a-no-impact-planet/ I can help but wonder if people have become so obsessed with the idea of the carbon footprint that they've completely missed the trail...
  17. Badly remixed rap-karioke? :wtf:
  18. "Tell me this: is there any man alive more annoying than Bono? I agree, there isn't." So basically this is a let's bash everyone article then. Well I got it wrong- I can think of plenty of far more annoying people. Therefore you can't agree. "I make the greater part of my living from interviewing famous people, [good for you  explains the cynicism] and believe me, when I play back my tapes afterwards, the sound of my insincerity is enough to make you sick. [Doesn't even take sound, dude.] But the point is that I save readers from this nauseating twaddle by editing it." Thank you. Pity you can't turn such a critical eye on your writing. File under "one more reason I never did get into journalism in the end". I didn't want to end up like this guy.
  19. Well that's when he started wearing it, anyway.
  20. Didn't he get it when he was in South America?
  21. You really think I'd continue this conversation if I wasn't amused? :P
  22. So although the board has been thriving for the last 7 years now you feel it's worth martyring yourself for after a few months? Bit arrogant, isn't it?
  23. And do they ever learn?
  24. Because it's silly. ...Because life would move on and you'd be happier if you focused your energy on something happier. There's so many wonderful things in the world. More crap than people, yes, but that doesn't make the good less good, it just makes it even more important.
