Polaris Music Prize
Well it started at 10pm here and it's after midnight now.... and I came in around 11:30, so I really can't tell you what the first hour and a half was like. But I guess most people have played already.

coldplay in a new copyright case?!
Yeah... it's called Sledgehammer, and it was cutting edge back in 1986. Note the part with the chalk drawing of the rollercoaster.... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqyc37aOqT0]YouTube - Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel[/ame]

^Aw, sorry. I don't know if Hey Rosetta! have played yet or not. It's just Much... a proxy might work if you know how to use one. If not they announced that the video would be available as a podcast on radio 3 in a couple of days. Visually you're not missing much- it's a theatre set up like any dinner awards show, and an upper balcony around the back for the non-musicians. Mostly bored nervous looking musicians waiting and watching. And then the performances on a colourful but sparse stage.

Kind of a misleading title... you can't copyright stop motion as a concept.

Oh, wow. I looked up at the next tab and noticed it the moment I read it. Some of the background behind articles is grey now instead of black paint, too. (Sorry if it's been mentioned.) Guess they really are changing the site one element at a time. Probably saves them from having to take the site down for a day or two. edit: heh... it's complete with technical errors... the white lies interview is all on one line...

Gwynopoly: Paltrow and Chris Martin buy a THIRD home next to their superhouse (update pg13: 23-Jan-1
Scanning over this whole thread (thanks for the laughs, guys) I can't help but notice how almost everyone who is criticizing is from North America. Have any of you actually been in a British house? The first time I was I couldn't get my mind around how an entire family fit in it. It was soooo tiny. And then I found out that they were actually quite wealthy and that their house was considered somewhat large for that city. It was only small in comparison with the plush suburban McMansions that are common in North America these days. I bet some of you self-righteous lot already live in a bigger house than they're building and don't even realize it. :P

Did Jonny graduate with a degree in Astronomy & Mathematics?
They graduated in '99, then spent the rest of that year recording and releasing The Blue Room, from what I understand.

^^ Numerologists. :p ^ Roadie 42 usually collapses before he ever gets to the last blog of a tour. Always disappointing, but impossible to blame for it.

Did Jonny graduate with a degree in Astronomy & Mathematics?
Yeah, if I remember right they were either studying for or had just written their final exams right when they signed their record deal. Guy had dropped out by then, but the rest of them finished everything and went straight to the studio afterwards. Maybe there are clearer details on the timeline?

Yeah, they toured many of the songs on AROBTTH for a couple of years before they ever recorded them. Personally I think it's part of why that album is so good- they got a chance to really find out what worked before it was time for the definitive version.

:nice: I love how people periodically discover the wayback machine around here and then seem to forget it for next time. And yes, there's lots of great stuff if you're persistent enough. I love Chris' long rambling blogs in the early days back when he tried to write a couple. Guess there's a reason he doesn't anymore.

As the Viva-era concludes, let's re-listen.
I was going to do that anyway. But nice to be doing it with a group. And if it hasn't been said already, Bonus points for following it with Prospect's March too! :D
