~*~ The Official Will Champion Appreciation Thread ~*~
Probably already been posted but I thought it would be nice to share again - an article on ThisIsHampshire.net about Coldplay's contribution to help Southampton achieve Fairtrade city status: Coldplay's tribute to this fair city From the archive, first published Friday 26th Mar 2004. THEY'RE the biggest band of the moment, with two Brits, a Grammy and five million album sales under their belt. But pop heroes Coldplay still have time to spare a thought for one of their member's home town. The band has sent Southampton a message of support for achieving the long-fought-for Fairtrade city status. In a letter signed by the four, including former Cantell School pupil Will Champion, they wrote: "Coldplay are tremendously pleased to know that you are working hard to make Southampton a Fairtrade city. "The campaign to make trade fair all over the world is one which we fully support and we wish you every success. We hope that more cities take the initiative to do the right thing and get people a fair price for their work and produce." City campaigners who saw Southampton win Fairtrade status at the beginning of March got in touch with the band through Will's dad Tim, who is on the fringes of the Fairtrade group. Drummer Will, 26, was born in Southampton and went to Cantell School before studying at Peter Symonds College in Winchester. He shot to fame after meeting his fellow band members at University College, London. Three years ago, Will made an emotional return to Southampton to watch as a commemorative plaque was unveiled at the city university to remember his late mother Dr Sara Champion, an archaeology lecturer, who died of cancer. This message of support to his home town is a major boost for Fairtrade. Jane Freeland, from Southampton's Fairtrade group, said: "We were delighted with the message. Coldplay are well-known supporters of Fairtrade and it is great to have celebrities on board, especially with a local connection. "But this is just the beginning. We now need to expand to other towns, encourage more businesses to stock the products and more people to buy them." http://archive.thisishampshire.net/2004/3/26/32766.html

Homecoming (Official Video)
Yeah I didn't think it looked like Kanye West in some points. I checked his message board and someone has posted: "I really like the fact that common is in it, even though he never dropped a verse". So it looks like you're right! Nobody has mentioned Chris on that forum unfortunately :P

What did you want to grow up to be?
I wanted to be a footballer. Then I realised I'd never be a footballer. I haven't played in ages now. I used to love football, I played all the time. One of the best things that ever happened to me was when I overheard this girl I fancied the pants off say to her mate, "wow he's good!" when she was watching all us butch 10 year olds playing football at lunchtime at school. Good times, good stuff.

TOP 10 celebrities you want to sleep with
Yeah Cycle 4 had crazy Brittany and Kahlen and Tyra shouting at Tiffany! Anyone ever seen Zoolander? Ben Stiller's in it - I haven't, but I believe it's about male models, and I've heard it is very funny.

TOP 10 celebrities you want to sleep with
Yeah they've shown every season so far over here. There is a British version but it's not as good as the American one in my opinion. I think it's great. Naima's my favourite winner - I fell in love with her the moment I saw her, she's so cool and cute and yummy!

Hi shirburnian - you wouldn't happen to be Phil Harvey himself would you? A Shurburnian is somebody that has attended Sherborne School - where Chris Martin and Phil Harvey both went to. Or maybe you just happen to know what a Shurburnian is, maybe you are one! http://www.oldshirburnian.org.uk/

What Time Is it and what are you doing ??

Please read this and reply- this might make you mad
Yeah you're not alone. It annoys me when people think a certain way about a band I like, especially Coldplay!, when you can tell they have probably heard 1 song by them and judged them entirely on that one song. But I (sort of) respect people's opinions and live happy in the knowledge that I can go to my bedroom and entertain myself with Yellow while said person that dissed Coldplay will never (unless they convert to being a Coldplayer) be able to appreciate the beauty of Ode To Deodorant and other such joyous tunes :P

What are you reading right now?
Finished 'Deception Point'. I found it really thrilling, but Dan Brown frustrates me! He seems to use the same tricks, techniques, narrative styles, call it what you will, in all of his books. Some of the language used makes me cringe - he could be so much better. But it was still a very unputdownable book and I'll no doubt read Digital Fortress in the near future. Funny, I heard 'The Gun Seller' mentioned somewhere the other day. It sounds good - must be if it's by Hugh Laurie (unless anyone that's read it feels otherwise...) so I'll add that to my 'to do' list... I started Sebastian Faulks' 'Birdsong' for about the fifth time yesterday. I always read the first 50-or-so pages but for some weird reason get daunted by it and put it down, changing it for something else. But I'm determined to see it through this time.
