  1. We will know that we are close when we get one of those "first listen" articles that Rolling Stone, NME or Q always does. You know, the ones where some reporter gets to go into the studio and hear a few songs then we all spend about 100 pages analyzing the descriptions they give!
  2. so who here knows about lolla? when will we know what night Coldplay is playing? and when do they usually start selling the single day passes?
  3. It may be worth keeping some of it still just for the fact that if you had an emotional reaction to it at one time there must have been a valid reason for that emotional reaction. Even if you no longer listen to it now there may be times when it comes up in a shuffle and temporarily takes you back to those moments in your life when that music had special meaning to you. One of musics great powers and something Im sure we've all experienced.
  4. My Morning Jacket is giving away the song Circutial (off the upcoming album of the same name) on thier official website right now.
  5. But can't we live in a world where we ALL get bonus tracks and gold stars on our foreheads!?! A man can dream...
  6. How am I wanting more? My question was in regards to if there was a way for people who bought physical editions of the King of Limbs to also recieve the two bonus "thank you" tracks. I paid for the King of Limbs just the same as anyone who downloaded it and would even be willing to PAY for the other two songs. I was asking if they were going to be available anywhere else. Is it so strange (or greedy) for someone who bought the album in the phyiscal format to also want to be able to get these additional tracks? I'm not asking for more I'm only asking for LEGAL accsess to something that already exists. Imagine... someone who likes Radiohead songs wanting (to PAY if need be for) more Radiohead songs!!! The greed! The greed!
  7. that is very nice of them. but what about all of us who, you know, actually left our houses and went out and bought a physical copy of the album? I think that shows just as much support as paying for a download. Im not saying it shows more... im just saying that buying the album is buying the album. Is there at least any word that these songs will be made available to buy elsewhere for those of us silly enough to still buy music in stores?
  8. "Post-Berry" A phrase that means something only to REM fans! Not to mention a statement that I agree with. Although I did like Accelerate a lot and I have a soft spot it my heart for Up just for trying so hard...
  9. The Famous Old Painters Mystique I wonder sometimes about the mystery that surrounds this song and the intrigue that it holds for us Coldplay fanatics. Without question there are a large number of songs that have been written and recorded throughout the various album sessions that will never see the light of day. Yet this song seems to have a special appeal that goes beyond those other lost tracks such as Lukas, This Hollow Frame, or In Isolation. Even as a new album approaches this track, presumably now over three years old, continues to capture our interest. Is this due to the lack of news regarding the fifth album or is it something more? It could be because by having a small description via Prospekt during the Viva sessions that it became more “real” then a song where only the title was known therefore making it seem more attainable. Like we were missing something from a band that had already given us so much. It could be because those who love the Viva era sound are desperate to hear more from that time. It could be because some people just really dig the title. Now having heard the instrumental leak the desire for a complete recording seems to have grown even more. There was a suspicion (based almost entirely on the song’s title alone) that Famous Old Painters would be a fantastic song and when the instrumental leaked that suspicion turned out to be true… Famous Old Painters had lived up to it’s somewhat anonymous hype. We all thought that the brass band entering the final act of the song would sound amazing and when we finally heard it we were right. I have not witnessed this much fervor for a recording since the days when people were watching each single’s track listing for that ever elusive studio cut of Ladder to the Sun. Now Famous Old Painters has taken it’s place as the great lost Coldplay track… granted that it may not be as lost as it once was. Something that Coldplay fans can speculate about on message boards… the one we might hear someday. The song that we all know without really knowing it. In the end the decision to release or not release a song rests entirely on the shoulders of the band who created it and this is as it should be. One can’t help but be curious though (and maybe even just a tad frustrated) on how a song this beautiful, this quintessentially Coldplay, could go unreleased in any form. For now we have a satisfying albeit teasing instrumental… and our ears wait impatiently for a Chris Martin vocal that may never enter the mix. There may be no one real reason why this song gets the kind of attention that so many other unreleased tracks may not have but one thing is for certain… it just goes to show how dedicated Coldplay fans truly are. They are just as passionate about the songs they have never heard as they are about the classics. But as for this potential would be classic… the Viva la Vida 10 year anniversary re-release with obligatory bonus tracks is only seven years away right? JH
  10. Real. It's helping each other discover things like this that makes me love being a member of this board. Beautiful...
  11. The title reminds me of the last line of The Great Gatsby: "So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." - F. Scott Fitzgerald
  12. I wonder if the songs that we have heard of like Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall, Up With the Birds, and Hurts Like Heaven were part of that first record that they were working on that they moved on from (and then went back to) or were part of that "second" record that they were working on before they decided to go back to the first one. No matter what the new Coldplay album will be the new Coldplay album... maybe even with a mix of songs from both records (or maybe not). I just think it is interesting to speculate on which Roadie 42 posts were reporting on which record.

  16. If it turns out that it won't be out until October then I would be very happy with an EP (it sounds like they have a lot of material) or even another non-album single release this summer. It would help to promote all the summer gigs and keep the excitement level up while we wait for the actual album. Would a summer EP steal some of LP5's thunder?
  17. Big Talk (2011) The Killers' Ronnie Vannucci Jr. will be releasing a solo effort later this year although no exact date has been set. As of now here is an official website (still in progress) that you can take a look at below: bigtalkmusic.com It's a bit unclear (to me at least) if Big Talk is the name of the band itself, the album or both.
  18. Yeah, that was just my guess. I'm starting to think that May will be too early but Im still holding out for a summer release...
  19. June 20: UK June 21: USA
  20. I wonder if he will still be listed as the main producer when the album is released or if that credit will go to Markus Dravs this time...
  21. With a new album on the way and the Viva era now a thing of the past i can't help but feel that Famous Old Painters may just end up being the great lost Coldplay song. There is no way to know just how good this track is but Phil Harvey himself stated that there was a version recorded and mixed that he thought was very well done. It is true that the time for this song might be past but I know there are many others like me that would love to hear it. So here is my proposal. What if we got as many people as possible to send a paintbrush to "the beehive" with a note attached that reads, "Please release Famous Old Painters... Thank You- The Fans" Since the song has been finished there wouldn't be any extra work for the band and they may even be happy to see the amount of passion us fans have for their music... even the music we have not heard. I also think that just so it's not a selfish request each paintbrush should also be sent with a small donation that the band can then give to the charity of their choice. It would not have to be anything too large, maybe five or ten. We should also put in our short message that this money is being sent for charity as a show of our appreciation for all the band has given us. The band could even donate all the paintbrushes to local schools. Please release Famous Old Painters... As a show of our appreciation enclosed is a small donation to the charity of your choice. The paintbrush itself may be donated to a local school. Thank You- The Fans It would be for a good cause and we might even end up getting an amazing song out of it! What do you guys think?
  22. Does anyone know what Win Butler said when CBS muted out that one part of his speech? I just assumed he might of swore but i was still wondering. A quick transcript of his acceptance speech would be very much appreciated. Very happy about this win...
  23. MTM = Mining the Moon !?! if i remember correctly there was, at one time, a song rumored to be called Mining On the Moon. Just a thought...
