  1. yeah, that's right. *insert another random pop-culture reference here*
  2. thank you for detailing just how laughable the idea that we went to war in iraq on moral grounds is. me laughing at the idea:
  3. fanta = NASTY pants - comfortable but if it were socially acceptable for men to wear skirts i'd have to give it a shot ham = FLAVOR COUNTRY.
  4. yeah i'd tell them to take their 2 pound download and go fuck off, except they're giving all the profits (which, since it's a download, should be all of it, minus what they have to pay the pretenders) to future forests and stop handgun violence. that said, i'm still not paying for it or stealing it, because i don't really care if i hear it one way or another. :P
  5. yeah i came back here to kind of single out 1.36, because i don't think i've ever heard a band attempt to rock and fail so miserably since i first heard staind.
  6. i get confused with a lot of the early stuff, because all the songs like brothers and sisters or see you soon were on ep's and such before they were b-sides, but since they aren't on a full length album i consider them b-sides. so it's "See You Soon," hands fucking down.
  7. a meal fit for a king. i am a) poor b) bored c) too tired to create a decent plate of food d) in the mood to start threads that are utterly pointless, but are still a welcome change from talking about iraq/north korea/THE AXIS OF EVIL!
  8. i like Michigander myself. :P what do you call yourself if you're from wichita? wichitar? (like kosovar)
  9. two words that can change your life: PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION :P
  10. well i haven't seen the DVD, but from seeing them play it twice in person, i'm going with the live version.
  11. i think that's too complicated to really make a definitive statement either way. and i think you should be able to be banned for using all-caps. and i think that our president couldn't possibly be doing a worse job if he tried, and that includes everything else that doesn't involve foreign policy. (ie. tax breaks for the rich, pulling out of the kyoto accord as one of his first moves in office, pushing for media de-regulation, giving heavy polluters breaks in his energy bill, which was blocked, thank god, and finally, turning the largest budget surplus in american history into the largest budget defecit in american history in a matter of two years)
  12. the U.S. government has a long history of supporting dicatorships, especially if the opposition to the dictator was backed by the USSR or had any connection with communism or socialism in any form. our government wasn't pro-democracy, they were just anti-communism, and the unfortunate result of that was that places like chile, afghanistan, and especially vietnam and korea got caught in between the US and the USSR, and neither side was really acting in the best interest of anybody living there. not to mention our government deliberately trained and funded groups like the Taliban (and, oh yeah... OSAMA BIN LADEN.) as far as Iraq is concerned, it's kind of a different situation, because whereas before the US was usually acting to counter the soviets, here we just seemed to march into baghdad completely out of the blue for no real reason (or at least no reason that has any basis in the truth). i think it's pretty obvious that iraq is better out without saddam, but unfortunately, they're not much better off, because our government a) had no idea what to do once the "war" was over and 2) refuses to hand over authority to the UN, and the attacks on americans and other iraqis will not stop until that happens. anyway, i haven't really read much of the rest of the thread, but i guess that's kind of my addition to the last post here and me explaining why i don't really agree with any military action the united states has taken since world war II, with the exceptions of the first gulf war and the 2001 overthrowing of the taliban.
  13. i saw it and it was pretty much exactly what i expected. just as visually stunning as the first two, and of course i already knew the plot, i just wanted to see how they'd tell it, because if i remember right, the second and third books are very non-linear (it's been a few years since reading them). any complaints i have about it have more to do with the circumstances under which i saw it than with the movie itself. (i went to a midnight screening and had just watched the extended version of the two towers, so i'd just about had my fill of climactic battle scenes and dramatic death scenes, and by the time it ended, i was ready to sleep and it couldn't end soon enough)
  14. who, me?
  15. Left Out To Rot. Liars Often Talk (in) Riddles i got nothing here but i had to try.
  16. yes I do he's my son :P LIES. SECRETS AND LIES!
  17. 1. water 2. ear 3. burning dinner for your sweetie because to her it's clearly a metaphor for how much you suck at life, and every time you try to please her in some way it is a spectacular failure, and all she does is look at the things you fucked up instead of the things you do right. RRRGH. 4. traffic jam
  18. *raises hand* I KNOW I KNOW!
  19. yeah i rather liked the lifestyle thing... although i guess it really wasn't anything that couldn't be talked about here.
  20. oriental = east occidental = west just to clear up any remaining confusion. :P
  21. the only christmas song i've heard him play is "have yourself a merry little christmas," which i thought was absolutely gorgeous. but that's a few years old now, i think.
  22. YOU DON'T KNOW JESUS.
  23. contrary to popular belief, there's a lot more to playing bass than knowing basic guitar stuff and then just translating it over to single notes on 4 strings. it's a whole different feel from playing guitar, unless the only guitar you can play is power chords. you'll learn to pick up subleties and nuances of rhythms and counter melodies that you won't even notice when you're playing guitar. so i guess i would say, between bass and guitar, bass is probably easier to learn the basics (or is it BASSICS!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA) but if you want to be a master, you'll probably put the same amount of time into either. (i consider myself a master of neither, personally)
