atlanta braves win 14th straight division title
Like I needed another reason to think Chipper Jones is an idiot. (You can probably determine why I'm inclined to think so from my location as well)

Dungen
I've heard of 'em but... eh. Not particularly interested based on what I've heard.

the last great album you bought was....
The last really great album I bought would be Forever Changes by Love but that was released in 1967. :P

buh, I'm loosing my memory
When I was a little kid I used to think people were calling it "old-timers" disease, and that it wasn't really a disease, just old people with bad memories or something. Obviously now I know better. :P

The 60s....
I didn't say Marvin Gaye didn't have any hits in the 60's, but come on... "Heard it Through the Grapevine" and assorted other singles vs. landmark classic albums like What's Going On and Let's Get it On and Here, My Dear? No contest. Also, "What a Wonderful World" may have been from the 60's, but Louis Armstrong's most definitive and characteristic work came decades before that, and he was world famous loooooooooooooong before that as well. Characterizing him as a 60's artist is sort of like saying Santana is mainly a 00's artist because his song with Rob Thomas was a hit, when everybody knows his most important work was from decades in the past. Just sayin'. :P

The 60s....
Louis Armstrong's best stuff was done almost 40 years prior to the 1960's, and Marvin Gaye's best stuff was in the 70's. And Queen was also 70's, and Led Zeppelin only had two albums released in the 60's, and they were both 1969, so I consider them a 70's band. But to the growing list I will add: Bob Dylan Love Jefferson Airplane The Zombies The United States of America The Incredible String Band John Coltrane Ornette Coleman Donovan Miles Davis (who could also be applied to the 40's, 50's, and 70's) The Velvet Underground Sun Ra The Temptations

After what you said earlier, I'm not sure if I should respond because you don't like when I ignore you, or ignore you because you don't like when you start threads like this. :P

IDIOT PILOT.
Holy crap. That started out all right, even though I'm not a real huge fan of the melodramatic Jeff Buckley/Matt Bellamy school of singing that this guy obviously went to. Then it devolved into a bunch of irritating noise. I think I'll pass. :P

Stars
They opened up when I saw Broken Social Scene the March before last. And I think that's how the girl in Stars ended up in Broken Social Scene because she was singing all of Leslie Feist's vocal parts at the show. Stars are all right. Sugary sweet pop but nothing particularly spectacular in my opinion. I liked them live but was bored half to death when I heard their new record.

Dire Straits....
Man, didn't I just recently obnoxiously reply "I WANT MY MTV" in a thread exactly like this one?

- Anyone wanna do some covers? :P
Anybody else think this would be more fun to try and do it with original songs? It could be a great way of turning the idea of collaborative songwriting upside down. People could write songs that would end up completely different from how they envisioned them. Just a thought. :P- Sufjan Stevens
"To Be Alone with You" was on Seven Swans. Catch it on the OC? :P- Nada Surf
At first I thought you said "no annoying/quirkiness" to defend against their "hit" from 1996 or whenever that was. "Popular." *shudders* Then I realized you'd actually never heard it before. Weird. So yeah. They were more known stateside, and I'm probably still never going to be able to take them seriously because of that dumb song. I didn't even know they were still around.- erm, how to put this, are songs without vocals incomplete?
About half the music I listen to is probably instrumental. So no, I don't think they're "incomplete" at all, although I would recommend some bands that are better than Explosions in the Sky, like Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Tortoise, or Do Make Say Think. Or in the electronica vein, Boards of Canada are one of my all time favorite groups.- Everything Sounds Like Coldplay Now video
You didn't? Damn! That means somebody's stealing pennies from me. :uneasy:- baby spears-federline
I, for one, am horrified at this whole thing. First of all, has anybody who's seen even the shortest interview with Britney Spears think she's capable of motherhood? Second, this poor kid is already nothing more than a punchline! This is a human being we're talking about here! I'm not exactly a parenthood expert, but I hardly see any chance at all that this kid will grow up to be a normal or healthy in those conditions. It was half-jokingly suggested that situations like this are the reasons abortion is legal, and I'm going to half-jokingly agree. Kids every day are born to parents who aren't ready for them, and even though there are many that are worse off than the Spederline kid (which I think is a catchier way of saying Spears-Federline :P ), who at least won't have to worry about not having money (for now) or a father figure (for now), but most kids aren't the laughing stock of an entire country of gawking rubber-neckers.- Is Terrell Owens an asshole or what?
Notice "can" in that sentence and not "did."- The Office--American version
I kinda like the American Office but I still think it's vastly inferior to the British version. The original had an amazing ensemble cast that all had brilliant comedic timing. The American version has Steve Carrell, who is very good, and a bunch of place holders who are all more or less interchangeable archtypes, with none of the subtlety and nuance of their British counterparts. Watch the range that Martin Freeman has just with his priceless reaction shots on the original, and watch his American counterpart attempt to do it, and the difference is immediately apparent. At least to me. I'll agree with you about Arrested Development being the only comedy on TV worth watching, though. :P- Gomez
Gomez were pretty good. I really like Liquid Skin and Bring it On. But Split the Difference and In Our Gun were kinda... eh. I had the good fortune of seeing them live about three years ago, and they were pretty good. In fact I think they're releasing a live album soon. Or it may already be out.- Everything Sounds Like Coldplay Now video
- Everything Sounds Like Coldplay Now video
I can't imagine how dour and humorless one would have to be for that video to be genuinely offensive.- Hey everybody!! I'm on GOOGLE!!
When I google my name I get the place kicker for the East Carolina Pirates who happens to have the same name as me. And I thought nobody shared my name. :P - Anyone wanna do some covers? :P
