i like this song too, but for some reason what i like about this song is everything before it explodes into chorus with chris singing 'carry your world' - don't know why i find that main part a bit anti climatic, but still a lovely song nonetheless

yes!!! exactly. I had this manually recorded on my minidisc player or whatever it was I was using back then, and still remember every word Chris said at the beginning and all the random noises throughout the recording.. then I waited patiently for them to release a studio version.. I think they finally did (or he gifted the song to another band? can't remember) and it was a bit of a let down, maybe because I had such high expectations for this song. Anyway, old memories come flooding back to me now, every coldplay song had some stuff attached to them (teenage angst probably)

sigh... I spent my teenage years with Parachutes and Rush of blood, Coldplay was my favourite band (next to RH). I basically grew up with Coldplay songs, there were some b-sides I especially cherished and could listen to all night long, e.g. Easy to please, I ran away, Gravity (live - not the version that came later, it was a bit of a let down tbh). They were so amazing and they meant so much to me. Fast forward to now, I completely forgot about them as their current music no longer affect me in the way they used to (absolutely did not care for mylo whatever, ghost stories I gave it a try but it didn't really stick, this new stuff is catchy but not my thing) . But today, I cam across some ancient videos on youtube and then I remembered how much I loved this band, got all emotional, listened to all the songs from the early 2000s and now I am back here, reminiscing the old times! I am surprised I still remember my password

I was looking forward to this album after hearing it being compared to their old stuff (just like what you said), but I have to admit I am a bit underwhelmed. Their old stuff (pre rush of blood) I could listen to for hours on end back in the days, never grew tired of them. I'm already a bit bored and don't feel the urge to want to listen to GS again. When I compare parachutes to GS the latter lacks depth (although I was quite emotional while listening to the songs, but not really because of the music but because I felt sad and sorry for Chris).

the sad news brought me here, haven't been here in a long time... i never cared about celeb divorce but this one really saddens me, to be honest, mostly just for chris.

Easy to Please (maybe i'm biased but this song totally kills me) 2. Moving to Mars 3. I ran away 4. Gravity 5. Only superstition

it's probably not the edge they were looking for, as it reminds quite a bit of people of radiohead (for me, esp. hail to the thief), and last time chris apparently really disliked being compared to RH and modified 42 or whatever that song was off VLV, no? in any case. i like this song. i can't stand ETIAW

maybe being palz with jay-z has had an effect on chris martin why pour out your heart and soul in an original, achingly beautiful song when you can just sample, get lots of airplay, and make millions

This song is catchy, in an annoying way. I especially especially dislike near the ending, starting around the 2:50 mark when Chris goes 'it was a w-w-w-waterfall' .... OH, gosh. At this point I want to plug my ears, reach for Parachutes or one of the old b-sides. ETIAW is like corn syrup. sweet but shitty, presumably lots of people will like it and consume

i read a while ago that 5th album will be more intimate, but this song does not really point in that direction -- anyone know if ETIAW is a good indication of how 5th LP will sound like??? :( also i think this song is more fitting for some very mainstream female acts like katy perry, not so much chris martin and his beautiful voice bah

after reading the lyrics, and seeing lots of ooohh and ahhs near the end, i was expecting an epic coldplay ending like the ending of POLITIK or FIX U :( i rate this song between 5 - 7, maybe i will warm up to the song after a few more listens. it's kinda catchy, summery, but 10/10? o_o
