The official Chavi and Carla and friends off topic thread
It's a kind of spice Joe, often used in Indian and Middle Eastern cookery I think. Simplicity is key so this is the one I'll bake (as long as they have cake tins at the shop) http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/coffeeandwalnutcake_87248.shtml Right, badminton's finished so I can't post for a bit...if the cake's successful I'll try to post a pic later on :) See ya!

Ah right, dinner rolls are...rolls for dinner, I see! Umm, can't see any coffee listed as ingredient in that 'blueberry coffee cake'...how does that work? I like the look of this one, but the cardomom pods are a potential banana skin... http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/cardamomandcoffeecak_86632.shtml

Thanks pal, but what are 'dinner rolls'??! Also, that recipe needs them to be thawed overnight I think. I WANT COFFEE CAKE TONIGHT!

Hi guys, how is everyone? :) I'm just in the middle of a game of badminton at the moment, but later on I decided I'm gonna try to bake a coffee cake for the first time ever...anyone got a good recipe or some tips?

It's my father's funeral in the morning.
I'm sorry you took it as that, that is not how it was meant at all. I'm glad everything went well for you all fella.

Ben and Jerry's Sundae Festival
Anyone going? Free ice cream! £12.45 a ticket! (Avoid the helter skelter at all costs)

Thinking of you fella. I know how it is, I went through the very same thing. Feel free to PM if you need a chat at all, OK? If you really care about someone, it's best not to assume how they're feeling in a situation like this. It's bound to be a very confusing and mixed-up time, and in my own case my instinct was to close up and to show the world I could deal with it strongly, when I did actually need an opportunity to talk about my feelings. I would say, if you can, make yourself available for your mate.

COLDPLAYING WEMBLEY T-SHIRTS! ... BUTTERFLY DESIGN (SEMY) BACK ON SALE!
Though I won't be wearing one of the tees (it would clash with my new purple and green hair colour :P) absolutely fantastic work everyone involved! :) Just so you know, Japanese sizes come up slightly smaller than Western sizes, I think, and so presumably other countries' in Asia, and perhaps in other parts of the world, do too.

What is your favourite Coldplay song today?
LiJ Acoustic

What are you listening to?
Square One --> Girls Aloud snippet --> Trouble live @ Brixton last year so long ago now...sniff :(

Did you see this?! Chris Martin's Viva shirt!
People are different I suppose. I don't care about keeping ticket stubs, programmes or other mementos from gigs, or even signed cds etc. If I was given this shirt by Chris I'd give it away if someone I cared about a lot really wanted it, or sell it. If I had money it'd be for charity, but I don't right now so I'd use the cash to see the band in five far-flung countries and have a nice holiday in each one at the same time :)

What was the last thing in your mouth?
Traditional Cornish ice cream, and lots of it :)

too many shows
4 shows in PA as against 3 in London?! Getting closer to more fans? Yes - in the US... but not in the UK arguably not in most of the rest of Europe definitely not in Asia, Central or South America, or Africa.
-
Who can actually sing the first verse of YES ?
I can, but not a tune I normally sing to myself, I really need to hear the music for this one. Might try it at karaoke though if they have it. My Coldplay bathing/cleaning/driving singalongs tend to be Glass of Water, Strawberry Swing and LiJ atm :) <edit> My non-Coldplay fave right now is this one, helps keep things in perspective :P [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buqtdpuZxvk]YouTube - Galaxy Song[/ame]

How long does a coldplay concert last?
In the shows I've been to (UK) they've always been on at 8:45/50 and off at 10:30/35

too many shows
Yep, far too many North American shows, they should play bigger venues in some of these places once a tour rather than two or three shows in smaller places. I'm sure we'll get a burn-out towards the end of this year and then a long gap a la Twisted Logic. On a selfish note perhaps I know they are (Chris is?) obsessed with being the biggest band in the world, but playing almost as many official tour shows in some smaller US cities last year as in London is ridiculous.

Me playing "Postcards from Far Away"
Fantastic! And, I much prefer it played slightly faster - it seems less melancholy :)

The current MP expenses row
Not sure? Then don't make such asinine remarks. The Parliament that accused the banking sector of acting irresponsibly and illegally, thereby causing all our economic woes, has acted irresponsibly and illegally, and lost all moral authority on the issue. The loss of moral authority goes further - why should anyone in Britain obey the laws that this bunch of crooks has passed? The Government and Parliament are currently utterly paralysed by this issue. Not only are important decisions on the economy not being made (a lack of action that could extend our woes for many many years to come) but in case you hadn't noticed, Britain is involved in Iraq and Afghanistan, where lives continue to be lost every day. The unprecedented disgust with, and loss of confidence in, the mainstream political parties among the public will likely lead to a big rise in votes for fringe parties, including the BNP (British National Party - fascists). Etc etc etc.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOE!!!!!
A very special happy birthday to you my friend, sounds like you're gonna be enjoying yourself :D Aw, reminds me of the BBC gig from last year, and has given me a good idea for a little present for Joe :) I was only yards away, and it was the most beautiful, tender, and amusing (for the builders!) version I've ever heard of this certain song. Luckily I was hiding at the back as I'm shy, so only the back of my head is visible at certain points. Message to Joe is soon after 2:14 ;) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUjjSrv5lFY]YouTube - COLDPLAY LIVE AT BBC CENTRE[/ame]
