Viva la vida is an absolute disappointment
While I do disagree with musicmad's opinion (This is probably the best album no worse than 2nd)...I do have to agree with one point...and thats alot of you seem to be "teenagers" Now, while there is nothing wrong with that there are those of us who remember when Yellow was first played and saw them live at shows at small venues. Now I'm not saying that your opinion doesnt count or that musicmad ISNT older....but it is obvious that there are a fair amount of posters who either A. Just joined or B. seem to be adolescents or C. both. These posters seem to get defensive anytime anyone says anything negative about the new album. It is a great album but by no means is perfection (which is what I think musicmad expected). The sad reality is that most of you on here probably think me being 26 is "old" but I have known Coldplay since I was 17-18 years old and I get the feeling some of you cant remember any period before X & Y. Long story short....everyones opinion counts and I think the charts say it all....Viva La Vida is a hit.

Viva la vida is an absolute disappointment
You create a new account and make this your first post? Being a REAL fan since Parachutes I can safely say that this album is amazing.

Jonny Buckland's "Pandora Box"
very cool! thanks for the info!

I don't want to hear Fix You, Yellow, Trouble in concert anymore
Well I would prefer Trouble, Fix You, Yellow, clocks etc AND songs like Shiver, Spies, A Rush of Blood to the head but we only get 90 minutes. What you do have to remember is us die-hard fans know every song but the average coldplay fan knowns them by those songs, and they have to play to the average audience. Yeah they could play lesser known songs but who in the audience would even know them? Then you get a bunch of dead horses just standing around. I agree I would be into it but only us die-hards would. Its like with my band...when we play live shows sure I want to play only our originals but there are very few people that know them so you have to play alot of covers to get any reaction....maybe a dull comparison but...

Jonny Buckland's "Pandora Box"
A rig like that is almost surely custom built and very expensive. A guy by the name of Mike Hill designed Jonny's rig.
-
Jonny Buckland's "Pandora Box"
Ok here is Chris Urbanowicz set up for his rig. He uses a Rickenbacker 620 exclusively live for this. (extremely under appreciated guitar)

Concert- Not Impressed
Its deffinately different this time around, im unsure but at the same time optimistic that they will deliver like they always have for me. Keep in mind its a new era...alittle less piano and alittle more synth and handclap. It is amazing but it will take a bit of getting used to and alittle open mindedness.... As for Chris dancing...I could care less hes just having fun I just hope he stays healthy I think my heart stopped for a few seconds when he biffed it during Speed of Sound right in front of me in Tampa...just don't trip Chris...thats all I ask!

Blue Synth Coldplay Use???
yeah it deffinately has been painted which makes it really hard to tell....its driving me NUTS too because i want to know if I could use a similar set up with my band. If its not an Roland SH-201 then I have no clue and the only way we will find out is if debs gives us the equipment list.

Concert- Not Impressed
I dunno I'm a huge fan as well (probably the biggest Wisconsin USA will ever see...) but I being left hoping that there will be ALOT more visually pleasing sets when they play the big arena shows. The Twisted Logic Tour sets were amazing live and I just don't see it yet during these mini gigs.... I probably am jumping to conclusions though....I'm sure the main arena shows won't hold back in visuals at all....I just hope the setlist is a tid longer....

tour tickets
320 for two tickets...it really depends on where you are seeing them. I paid 340 for the minneapolis auction and got 7th row seats right by one of the stage extentions, so that deffinately is not a rip off for me when you look at what ticket brokers are charging. On the other hand Chicago auction seems to be alittle more popular I myself am going to go for section 113/121 row 1, its cheaper and is better seats than being 20 rows back on the floor.... So rip off? I guess depends on some cirucumstances....

Johnny's New Pedals????
yeah its really hard to tell if its his Jag or Jazzmaster but I do think its his Jag I could be wrong though. My apologies to fak fak I didn't mean to imply tht you were wrong just simply making my feelings on Les Pauls known. I am a fender guy too I have a thinline and I love it. I do agree with the sustain and distortion on Les Paul and they actually are good guitars its just that everyone in the US and their mother has one... Actually the more I watch its kinda cool to see Jonny with a Les Paul :-)
-
Production Overshadows?
I did at first alittle....but now I am getting used to it and I like the sound, The strings are amazing and im also partial to Arcade Fire so it works well... The only song I feel that goes overboard is Lost! but yet it is still one of my favorites. The hand-claps in almost every song is alittle cliche though.... 9/10 on the album
-
Johnny's New Pedals????
blah...stupid Les Pauls....over-rated I tried to get still from the MTV Music Awards performance but it was blurry....He didn't add much but he did add more to his "Pandora's box"

The thread for all Pre--Sale discussions
pre-sale for Chicago was HORRIBLE...I'm just gonna bid on the auction its worth the extra money...

anyone else as annoyed as i am?
Annoyed yes....is it their fault no. I'm sure Coldplay didn't go out of their way to piss people off. They probably said hey can you guys have the production ready by this date and the production team said yeah but then let them down. There is more to Coldplay than just Chris, Will, Guy and Jonny. If fact they probably have the least amount of say in what goes on when you look at what it takes to book a venue, release and album, etc...so I wouldn't blame them 100%

How can anyone say that VLV is better than X&Y?
yeah X & Y is the poorest album imo, not that its bad just not near as good as the ot her three. AROBTTH and Viva La Vida are their strongest works so far.
-
I can't take it anymore...
I could care less what they wear, it's their choice not any of yours :-D
-
Blue Synth Coldplay Use???
Ive been looking a long time now the closest I c an come to is a Roland SH-201 however it is not blue and I cant find it with inverted keys....
-
Utterly Dissapointing ?
Maybe Jonny enjoys a different role? I think its nice to see the boys play a few different instruments it shows well rounded musicians. Music is always about rippin out power chords on the guitar, some of it is finess. sorry Im not a 14 year old either but you do sound like a washed up 80s rocker....
-
Violet Hill live (Chris's rythym guitar)
looks pretty good I agree those rapid changes at the end were hard to catch but you did a good job I think. The entire song is bar chords ( except Chris uses the thumb technique for that)

Viva la Vida basseffects
Not a big bass player but from what I have seen of guys board it looks like a multi-effects board which probably has a setting just as you said, a synth/overdrive. boss makes a synth pedal for bas (our bass player has one but didnt like it) and im sure you already know alot of bass amp heads come with an overdrive/distortion selection. Well im sure that helped none what soever but oh well...
