Coldplay is so Hip-Hop
lmao...gangsta? *shudders* gangstER works better. :P otherwise the former would be insisting that Coldplay's venturing off to crunk/reggaeton and all those other minor genres.. as i posted somewhere on this forum, hip-hop/r&b is terribly misunderstood. you'd definitely have to know the background history of the genre (i find it much more extensive than "rock"), to see that certain "beauty" of it. that, or find the humor in it too, regarding what most of "hip-hop" has turned into during the past decade or so.

They censored the VLV album artwork!
nope! mine wasn't censored. i would only expect censorship or something like this, maybe, in Wal-Mart. again, as somebody mentioned, it's a famous painting/artwork. and i say this with exaggeration, but it's not like anybody hasn't seen boobs before (get over it, you prude conservatives. your children will have to learn about them anyway.)

Poor sound mixing?
ahh...now i remember that it was mentioned some time ago :) so were the songs were recorded as a whole in those places, or just the parts? (my guess is the latter) whatever they did, it did help bring an additional raw sound for the music (which is interesting too), but even with live recording i still think the mixing could've been better. now if that kind of "blur-blending" was intended overall...well, then...:dozey: LoL...my main gripe is "Lovers in Japan." the song itself is great, but the album recording bugs me to death. hopefully when the band plays it live it'll sound MUCH better.

Billboard: SANTOGOLD to open North American tour
NO FAAAAAIIIIIR!! I want to see Santogold too in LA!! she's alright.....very different than Coldplay's style (she leans more towards new-wave and electronic, and i personally find her similar to M.I.A. a little ), but she's pretty good. at the very least keep an open mind and try to enjoy anyway. for starters, i suggest listening to the song "L.E.S. Artistes"

well SOMEBODY had to save the band.

Poor sound mixing?
i thought so too. for instance, Chris's singing gets drowned out a lot in this album. even though the band was going for a darker/fuller sound, i honestly don't think Chris's voice can work up to that as much. aside from singing, there was too much sound-layering and it seemed like everything was on the same volume....?! to me, it sounded like a big constant blur (especially with "Lovers in Japan").

"Coldplay imitate Muse's live shows"
Muse and Coldplay are great bands. I love 'em both. But at the moment, I pick Muse. The trio (and Morgan, hahah) are practically MADE for live shows. Even without all that glorious stage flairs and setups, they can still deliver; their music is extremely suitable for epic live performances. :D I still think Coldplay's better off with a relatively-stripped down stage set for performances. Would also help with Chris's 'consistency' with singing. But one thing they're really good at is crowd-interaction; that's what also helps them to be a good live act.

URGENT: Vote for Coldplay! HELP!
^ LOL, you missed :P i've gotten a few NME magazines before, and honestly i don't see how Coldplay fits in that scene/area (aside from the collaboration with free vinyl singles). Q Magazine, yeah, but NME...not too sure.

URGENT: Vote for Coldplay! HELP!

American version should be out earlier also
AGREED. besides, we get better caterings to plenty of live gigs and stuff. we win some, we lose some. aside from that, I also agree with Fed too. you know we're all for hip-hop too. :dozey:

Sneaking Cameras into Concerts - Ideas?
^LOL :D what i do is take a messenger bag, cut a hole in the inner-lining of the bag, and hide the camera in-between the fabric and the lining (behold, a secret compartment!). then i put feminine pads and tampons into the bag to hide the area where the lining was cut. worked for me so far. but now i'm not sure how the security for LA will be; if they use metal-detector rods, i'm screwed. :\

The Jesus of Uncool: Chris Martin: The Rolling Stone Interview
got the Rolling Stones magazine today LMAO i loooooooooooove that interview! i could tell that Chris was being half-serious/half-taking piss at the questions thrown at him. *sigh* somehow there'll be readers who'll write in and say how Chris is such a cunt. the album review, however, i wasn't entire sure as well. the critique was confusing (lots of praise, then jumps to reasons why it gets marked down...in which the reasonings are a little choppy and they've seemed to have come from nowhere!). for instance, was Viva la Vida or Death And All His Friends supposed to be political at all? well even if it was supposed to be, the messages of ALL the songs were not going to be straight-forward (which i do recall Chris saying that somewhere else before). it was done in that way to allow us to think for ourselves....? anyway, aside from that. i honestly would've given 3.5/5 as well, solely because i was really hoping that they would've executed the "new changes" to the sounds of Coldplay as they were implying or intended (or so it seems). and yes, sometimes in order to do or say what needs to be said or done, you're gonna have to risk pissing people off. i really wish the new album had gone on to do just that. the band has tremendous potential, but it's still not quite showing yet. :\

[NEXT 10 YEARS] British vs North American artists (think deeper before you choose)
Whether you choose British or North American music depends on so many aspects....from how you see music (as a serious art or a fun "hobby") to how you perceive music as a whole or in details, straight-forward or figuratively, etc. *sigh* this is a tough topic. Lemme try anyway...:\ Well to start off, I personally prefer rock music. But with that said, that genre of music has been, and still is, vastly different amongst Brits and Americans (I’m just going to compare those two fro now; I’m not too familiar with music in Canada yet. Sorry!). :) Almost all of the bands here in America, unfortunately, maintain to focus too much on the IMAGE aspect of rock (even if the band themselves try not to, the music media here will anyway). And the image of rock hasn’t changed much either…inquire me if I’m missing out on something, but to me rock music over here remains too cliché with the whole “sex, drugs, rock ‘n roll” and that whole “I don’t ever want to grow up and conform” act. Anyway, I’m guessing this is one of the reasons why the songwriting skills haven’t been improving as much as the British bands/artists have. The bands/artists in Britain have treated music more as an art than a quick business-marketing project. Music over there focuses well on the construction of the literacy and sound of a song; both straight-forward and figuratively. Music from America isn’t bad either. There are a few great bands from here too and I admire as well. However at the moment British rock has more to offer. ((LMAO I swear I'm not a traitor…:embarassed: :laugh3:)) I do have to credit America with hip-hop/R&B music, but unfortunately it’s sorely misunderstood by many people. True, it’s not as “literate” as other music and the progression of that genre is a little slower. Because it originated from America, again we’re too consumed in the “image”. But the thing with hip-hop music is that it takes on a very basic approach and that it’s more based on feelings and emotions. In other words, the beats and rhythms play a huge role in the overall message of the song. Also, one would have to understand the background of this particular genre of music (struggles and hardships from treatment of other people, particularly with racism), cause otherwise you wouldn’t be able to understand the “gritty” style of the music. Hip-hop isn’t really a stupid art-form at all (it’s also very outspoken and empowering), and it’s a shame that most people haven’t been able to see the real meaning of it. Oh my…been blabbing too much! :embarassed: Agh, okay enough….to the point: I prefer British artists, cause they’ve been more in-depth and innovative with music (art-wise) and that holds better longevity, with regards to how the world overall perceives music. But who knows? Americans might be able to pick it up in the next ten years and do better. We've contributed a lot to music as well; it's just that...we've hit a dry spot at the moment... :dozey:

Wear at a coldplay concert?
it does get kind of hot in the venue, so wear something relatively light and comfortable. and i agree on the closed-toe shoes too (your toes will hurt anyway while wearing flip-flops. that happened to me before, hahah). and, yes, it's alright to wear a Coldplay band shirt. that "rule" barely applies. :P
