  1. nice first post buddy :dozey:
  2. from the impressions of VLV so far....i now have to decide between VLV and AROBTTH.
  3. i only heard a few leaks.....saving the rest for later :smug: but anyway: Life in Technicolor - X&Y...the 'U2'-esque sound screams in this song like when the comparisons began to really brew with X&Y. 42 - if i were to chop the song into two, the first half belongs to AROBTTH and the second half to X&Y. but as a whole....i think i'm going to go with X&Y. Lovers in Japan - X&Y, no doubt. Yes - it's very split here! AROBTTH, cause it's similar to the chords in "Daylight" and the sounds of "A Rush of Blood To The Head." as for X&Y...it goes back to "Twisted Logic" with that so-called 'angry' sound and accents/attacks on the beats. Viva la Vida - i'm gonna say X&Y, because it's upbeat. Violet Hill - X&Y, since both are 'rockier' sounds Strawberry Swing - ....mmm i'm gonna say AROBTTH. it reminds me of "A Whisper"
  4. fine, i admit it...i downloaded the leaks! HAPPY Y'ALL?! :laugh3: but i'm still buying the physical copy (my own reasons being that i like the album and i'm more than happy to support one of my favorite music acts). (off on a tangent...) i'm sure most people would do the same and buy the physical copy, for whatever reasons, but also for the band having already proving themselves that they consistently make good music and are able to maintain a populous, loyal fanbase...sales wouldn't be too much of a critical problem, if that's where the concern is. only a few artists have the ability to take the risk by sending out freebies. the freebie method only hurts new and upcoming acts.
  5. right :D but in reality they didn't ACTUALLY depart from their sound completely. so i don't see why some are making it sound like it's been a 'radical' change. oh boy, chocolate chip cookie for you :smug: nicely said though :D
  6. honestly, no idea what was going on in his head then. when his sister told me the incident, i was like....:stunned::worried2: oh well. he's good for laughs and partying up the atmosphere. :dozey: :P
  7. aww don't worry. that's nothing compared to what my friend said at a CP gig on the last tour: "'YELLOW'...THAT'S COLDPLAY'S SONG?!"
  8. LoL so how do you like it? ;)
  9. agreed. agh do i want to win?? on one hand, winning would throw me into a complete celebratory mood () but i've got to book a flight and accommodations in two weeks...that's costly at the last minute. especially when there's a big probability that i might not even get good seats (since i don't have control over that bit). all that effort for seats in the back. :( on the other hand, it'll be less trouble to deal with, but right now getting tickets to L.A. is a serious pain! Best Buy Reward Zone, Ticketmaster, and KROQ 106.7FM contest my arse! :furious2: :embarassed::embarassed::embarassed:
  10. she takes parts from previous styles, mixes them up (and maybe adds in a pinch of something new), and makes them new again. and with the attention she's gotten, that's definitely redefining music, especially with pop. however i don't really see her as an extraordinaire musician of anything...it's her personality, her messages and her statements that are defining. :) anyway, that's within her genre. Coldplay's still with rock, and bottom line is that they are not experimental in that particular genre. oh well. all in all, i see it depends on the person listening and how they perceive the familiar and/or new.
  11. hahah yes :P i meant fan-wise, twistedCLOCKS wins. :)
  12. hahah for dance-pop music and pop music in general, she's done quite a bit there with the whole "reinventing" practice. "Vogue" doesn't seem to sound like anything else before (or so methinks). :)
  13. wow are you kidding?! :stunned: :laugh3: :\ :laugh3:
  14. WINNER! :laugh3:
  15. well with sole regards to their own history of works alone, VLV is experimental out of them. so i guess it's fair to say, although i'd prefer people realize that and make themselves clear about making statements like that. because, yeah, when i think "experimental" (along with "avant-garde"), i think of Pink Floyd, Bjork, and all those other artists most people misunderstand.
  16. mmm sort of, although my true love lies within AROBTTH 100%. it depends on my mood. sometimes i'll be into simplicity whereas other times i'll be into complexities. but for the most part, i like what they're doing now. their new stuff is interesting, and to me the changes in Coldplay's music (so far) are subtle. then again i do listen to different, random, eclectic experimental/progressive/artsy stuff a lot. CP hasn't really gotten out of the box yet. :dozey:
  17. beginning sounds A LOT like "Ruled By Secrecy"! :stunned:
  18. :bigcry::bigcry::bigcry:
  19. going crazy right now!! :embarassed:
  20. daaaamnit!! the last caller that won tickets is someone i know from my old high school!
  21. ba dah, ba dah, ba-dah-dah dah-dah dah, ba dah, ba dah, daaaah... "I LOVE YOU BABY!" thanks. pardon the weirdness from above. :laugh3:
  22. sorry but I'M STARTING TO LOSE TO TEMPTATION!! :bigcry:
  23. ahh fuck... to hear the leaks or not to hear the leaks (and wait until the official release)? .....AAAHH screw it! the album won't drop over here until the 17th! and by then i'm sure i'll be heading to the asylum b/c practically the entire world will be gloating about how "epic" the album is! GIMME THE LEAKS!! I GIVE UP!! :laugh3:
  24. WITCH! WITCH! ohh god, this is too tempting. must...resist...downloading....!
