Coldplay on 60 Minutes | Sunday 8 Feb | 7pm ET/PT on CBS [FULL VIDEO IN FIRST POST]
YAY WATCHING PARTY THREAD . i am SO excited for this. i think it's going to be a good interview since it's a serious, often hard-news show with good journalists. i bet there will be some nice video clips and old pictures shown too :wacky:

Small Reminders/Updates & The Coldplay Messenger (feat. Roadie #42!)
aww, that blog entry was so nice :nice:. though i admit when i got word of the blog on my phone through twitter, i freaked thinking that there would be something about the postcards project in there, and was sliiiiightly disappointed that it wasn't mentioned :uhoh: :P but AHHHHHHHHHH, COLDPLAY ON 60 MINUTES THIS SUNDAY  :wideeyed: :cheesy:. and then the grammys right after that! 60 minute interviews are always great and in-depth, and usually pretty formal, so even though chris will probably be his hilarious self, there might be some real answers out of him :wacky: guy and will look fabulous in that picture :D. i think it's mostly because of their hair. jonny looks lovely as always, of course, but we haven't seen his hair in years! i think he's pulling the edge's trick by permanently wearing a hat for the rest of his life to hide the fact that he's balding.

Postcards From Far Away project | Previous pre-delivery discussion (thread closed)
i got the twitter thingy on my phone saying there was an in-depth blog up on the site and i freaked out, thinking this MUST be it. so i went to the library as soon as i could an hour later and...nothing :dozey: of course, all the stuff in the blog was otherwise awesome, and i'm PSYCHED that coldplay are going to be on 60 minutes this week! but GAH, i was so convinced that that blog would say something about the project in it :disappointed: however, something tells me that if they didn't throw in a paragraph about the postcards in that blog, that there's going to be something a bit more exciting than a blog to show us tomorrow or friday :shy:

i love that jaffa cakes are our distraction :wacky:. the only thing that would be a better distraction is pringles :wideeyed: i can't wait for this, but i don't want it to be tomorrow. if i get texted or whatver but can't check it, i'll just be jumping out of my seat in classes all day with excitement, and the day will seem so much longer. AND i won't be able to check it until most of the excitement is over . thursday would be marginally better, since i get back an hour earlier than i do on wednesday. but i really hope it's friday :D

Gwyneth...
good point, mich. i think i'm just a bit weirded out by this representation of gwyneth, because it feels contrived.
-
Gwyneth...
i understand her point, but for me, i think i'd just feel like i'd want to buy myself all the time i could get and not risk it :P. but to each their own...i just wonder if it was the smartest thing for a celebrity to go on record saying how fun smoking is, even if it does give you cancer.
-
Gwyneth...
i think one last cigarrette the day you find out you're pregnant isn't a big deal, as long as it's your last, and it sounds like this was. for some reason, though, it kind of bothers me that gwyneth says she's going to go back to smoking when she's 70...i bet she's half-kidding, but i just think it's so disgusting and so harmful that i don't think it's really that good that she's going on about how lovely they are. to me its almost like she's advertising them. i'm still surprised that she ever smoked, though.

Thank you's from far away
 i have no idea where we stand. i know what i think personally, and i know some people agree, but i don't know what that means for everyone else. i say we figure out something similar to flowers or chocolates (not killer :flutterby:s in a box :P) and go from there. i also wouldn't object to the CD idea, but that would take longer to organize, and people are right, it might get a bit boring to listen to people just saying thank you over and over.

Thank you's from far away
butterflies are very nice from a distance, but without the wings, they're just icky bugs . i wouldn't want about a hundred of them flying through my house. there was once a spongebob episode about how gross and scary butterflies look up close . they thought it was a monster.

Thank you's from far away
*opens box* ":flutterby: :flutterby: :flutterby: :flutterby: :flutterby:" ":inquisitive:" ":freak:" "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" ":bigcry:" i don't really think she'd want to work with us again if we sent her a box of live bugs :P
-
Thank you's from far away
haha, well that's kind of a really cool idea, but...i would assume that a box of butterflies is MORE perishable than a bouquet of flowers of a box of chocolates . and i know that i'd be scared out of my pants if i got a random box in the mail and opened it my bedroom or something and a million bugs flew out, even if they were butterflies :P.

it cracks me up that i started this thread to be very strictly spam-free . lore would remove all the posts that weren't questions about the project. now look at us...jaffa cakes and :bomb:s :P the other thread basically dropped off the face of the earth, so yay for spam here! and jaffa cake talk is NEVER spam  i just ate 4 jaffa cakes :wacky:

i don't think it's going to be today anymore either. that's just me being hopeful :disappointed:. come on, FRIIIIIDAY :wideeyed:

Gwyneth...
i didn't know gwyneth used to be a smoker. that strikes me as really un-gwyneth, but i think that's her point in revealing how much she loves it and how she's going to go back to it. like someone said before, i think she's just trying to hard to be the cooler, altier gwyneth that loves to smoke and swears and talks about guinness and makes snap decisions. i think she just has to realize that the press is the press and they're never going to give a completely accurate representation of you, good or bad. it must suck terribly, but that's the business she's chosen to be in.

eeek, i hope it's not tomorrow. i hope it's later today or friday. tomorrow would be the worst, since i don't get back to my room until 5PM EST. thursday would me marginally better, friday would be perfect. it's only 5:30 PM in england right now. anyone else still have fingers crossed for today? :bomb:

Gwyneth...
well the chris comments were nice, but jeez, can't we just put all the jonathan ross stuff behind us? he did his time for something similar, yes? why bring this up now? this interview sounds interesting, but like it won't do her any favors.
-
Thank you's from far away
agreed :D. but about the card thing: i did that already :P. it just was more of a letter than a card, and it had your logo on the top, and i hand-wrote it from all of us :D. that's why i think that doing something with written words like that again would be overkill, which just leaves a small gifty sort of thing in my mind.
-
Thank you's from far away
haha, well i'm surprised people agree with me . but yes, i think starting another entire project of almost any sort is too much and is overdoing it. i don't necesarily think that debs would be less willing to work with us in the future or anything like that, but i just think that a small, simple sentiment is more fitting and less cheesy. i like the audio CD idea best of all, and it wouldn't be that hard to put together, but i also think it's making the whole thing a bit too 'projecty,' even if it's relatively simple for us to put together. i wish the flowers idea worked better. chocolates are easier, but still perishable, depending on how often she checks the PO box. however, with something like that, there's the issue of who pays for what and how much, and how we collect money from people. obviously there are ways to do it, i've just never done it before. people that agree with me: can you think of something like flowers that could be delivered to a PO box without going bad or dying?

^what i meant was, i'd be happy with ANYTHING, even just a more detailed note from debs, but i think the most awesome thing we could hope (that's also possible to give us :P) for is a video :D the whole time, i haven't hoped for anything more than just a nice report back from debs, and i still don't ask for anything more than that. but i can't deny that there's been some heavy hinting from debs that makes it seem as though she has something really awesome planned for us, and that gets me all excited and nervous :bomb:

Calling all London people...
i wish we had public transport  i may be being really stupid for a moment, but would the snow affect the tube? i would think that would still be up and running, even if the buses weren't.

:cheesy: jaffa cakes! i think i'm going to go eat my last three now, because i have more supplies coming to me this week :P maybe the surprise has something to to with jaffa cakes

i think a video is the best possible thing we could hope for :D. i don't really think debs can invite us all out to the bakery personally or get us all flights, accomodations, and VIP passes to the wembley concerts, so the most realistic, most awesome thing that i think is possible is a video :D. but who knows--there might be some completely awesome surprise in the wings that none of us have conceived of yet

Calling all London people...
haha, well besides the cold, snow, and ice (which i love lots of as long as it's in the months of december and january), i can't handle extreme weather either :P. if it gets above 80 degrees F i can't deal, and i don't know HOW people live in the south of the US with hurricanes, or the midwest with tornadoes, or california with forest fires :stunned:. it's too extreme and too dangerously upredictable for me.
-
Calling all London people...
oh yes, i know. i was just wondering, so i know how to compare it, since new england weather is a lot like UK weather minus the snow factor. 5 inches is getting towards pretty sufficient for things to shut down for a while, though, even for here, though until it's like a foot of accumulation, it's all cleaned up in a matter of two hours and schools and workplaces still go on running :dozey: i'm glad for all you that like snow that you're FINALLY getting some :P. we've gotten tons this year, and it's getting a bit boring, but i suppose it's nicer for you if you haven't really seen much at all this season. at the beginning of the season i think i'll never say that i want spring, but by february i'm sick of all the snow and digging out my car from a snowdrift every week.
