  1. the chris Q is for sale here?! i thought it was subscribers only! oooh, so picking that up this week :D this is pretty random but... my friend and i were talking about weddings today. she wants to have some big-ass wedding in a castle with hundreds of people and all that, but i was never that big on weddings, or at least not my own. i always figured i wouldn't really have one and would just do civil service, but i was listening to the line in "death and all his friends," and suddenly i got the idea that it would be rather nice to get married on a rooftop :P
  2. oh-HO, they don't think they need help from the official site, do they? :P well, maybe they don't, but anchorman has saved our ass twice now. i would say official help is invaluable. hahaha, and it's nice that they told them not to come and cause trouble over here. love the shout-out to their biggest troublemaker!
  3. sparklers?!? :cheesy: man, i wish they did that on the US leg. sparklers are kind of my favorite thing ever. i have an inordinate obsession with sparklers.

  5. agreed. and it seems like with X&Y and VLVOD, most of the songs on the album end up as singles anyway. i can't decide whether i think that's a good thing or not--it means more people get to hear more of their songs and it can possibly mean more b-sides and videos, but it also makes them seem more commercial and more in-your-face, especially to the people that will always hate them.
  6. i keep seeing the gwyneth AMEX ad on TV and it makes me smile :D it only recently occurred to me that it's kinda funny that an actress i really liked just so happened to end up married to my favorite musician . it never really struck me as weird before, but i guess it is a bit. i've liked gwyneth since shakespeare in love, and then i guess it was just coincidence that a few years down the line i ended up being a massive fan of her husband too :P [/random]
  7. ^that's completely adorable :nice: hmm, i'm so exhausted and burned out from uni that i can't really think of any really good facts right now. but i hear guy's accent gets more and more scottish the more drunk he gets :P
  8. ^that's kind of sad, actually. maybe i'm old fashioned or idealistic, but i would think/hope that serious, talented musicians were in it for the love of the music and not for the popularity aspect. i imagine being popular and successful is a HUGE bonus, but if you're just not going to bother making good music if it doesn't sell...i find that disappointing. i like to think that regardless of success, most of the musicians and bands i listen to would still be making the same music in their spare time to the best of their non-professional abilities and budgets, but maybe i'm weird :P
  9. i have to say, i'm a bit afraid of all those thousands of teenage girls and wannabe punks pressing the "vote" button all over the world for greenday...:uhoh: that said, i think the green day guys really do have talent, especially in the early days of their career. i just happen to like the strokes better, and i want coldplaying to win. i'd want coldplay to win as an artist, yeah, but this is coldplaying. meaning us :P
  10. while i see their points, part of me wonders how serious corgan and keenan were being when they said those things. i bet it must be as frustrating as hell to have 90% of your listeners only listen to two of the songs off your album max, but i thought that most musicians were in the business for the love of the music rather than to please fans, necessarily. i would think that "killing themselves to do albums" and putting all that "time, effort, and money into making those plastic discs" is a huge part of the fun and a huge part of the point :\. i think chris has some good quotes about the music being primarily for him and for the band rather than for anyone else. i think i get a bit concerned about artists who are only making music to please the masses and complain about all the effort it takes to record the music...makes me think of the manufactured bands and the like. i know corgan and keenan are serious musicians, which is why i wonder about the seriousness of those quotes a bit.
  11. i definitely could have prepared better for my exam tomorrow, but i'm so mentally checked out and either way i'm going to get an A in the class, so i guess it could be worse :P but AHH so close to being DONE. i wish my day wasn't so busy tomorrow, but by saturday night i'll be completely able to relax
  12. i miss snowdays :bigcry: screw living on campus and having to walk through bad weather
  13. it took me living in another country to realize that the american accent isn't just a lack of accent. we have a very specific way of saying letters like "a" and "r" and certain types of "e's"...its really hard to explain, but that's the jist of the actual accent itself. then there's the issues of intonation and pronunciation... i had never noticed american accents before until i just heard dutch and british accents for months...on the rare occasion i heard american accents, it really threw me off!
  14. palm trees and snow in the same picture boggles my mind :freak: and that's more snow than we've gotten to date in the northeast this season! what gives? it better snow once i get home safely on saturday. it rained all day today, and without effing global warming, it probably would have all been lovely snow :mean:
  15. thanks, mari and jenn :D (though i didn't mean to be taking attention away from mari's fashion questions with my own :embarassed:). i definitely know what you mean about the all black, jenn...i think it depends exactly how long the black dress would be on me (since i'm short and those models are undoubtedly tall). if there's not enough skin showing between the bottom of the dress and the boots...i think you're right, it would look funny. i guess i just have to physically try all this stuff on to see how it would work. as for the purple dress, i was actually thinking that's fairly casual . the party isn't really that dressy...last year i wore black boots and a wool mini skirt and a regular v-neck sweater, but this year since i have pretty kick-ass boots, i wanted to put them to use with a dress (and NOT wear the same skirt i wore last year :P). again, i think i'll just have to try them on together to see what's up, but i would say that the dress and the boots have the same ratio of casual to dressy, if that makes any sense :P mari: i'm not so sure about tights and peep-toes...but i'm not really the one to ask. i'm pretty much anti-tights in any scenario, and i don't expect you to listen to me, but if i were you i'd just ditch the tights for this outfit altogether since they make you like no warmer than just bare legs anyway :P
  16. *joins party a bit late* WE DID IT!!!!! THANK YOU, ANCHORMAN!! ohh, i voted for the strokes because i  the strokes only a little less than coldplay, but looks like they don't have a chance in hell :\. i feel that green day will be easier to beat than muse, though. then again, who really knows? anyway YAY FOR BEATING MUSERS!
  17. i think we've got this one in the bag, though i hope i'm not speaking too soon :D i keep thinking how awesome it will be to have our show be on the radio. if ben takes callers, i might just have to consider making a long-distance call! (i know he probably wont, i'm just kidding). however, i might have a schedule conflict the time of the possible coldplaying show, which would make me quite sad. that's something i'd want to hear live and follow in a coldplaying listening party thread!
  18. golden peep toe, i think, even though i know it'll be freezing :\ but i LOVE the dress! i'm currently lusting after one in a similar color. i need a dress for a christmas party later in the month, and i fell in love with two from my mom's store: i'm thinking the purpley one, assuming its in stock. i could wear black riding boots with either, right?
  19. today is my last day of work, preparing for in-class essays tomorrow. then i just regurgitate the information i prepared today in a bluebook tomorrow and i'm DONE :D i guess this week could have been a lot worse in terms of stress, but really it's just lasted forever and has had minimal fun
  20. your postcard is so ADORABLE!!!! :nice: i've always loved cartoony representations of real people, and those are just sooo cute! :D
  21. apple looks SO terrifed in this one. and that lady in the painting is most certainly touching chris's butt :P
  22. hahahahaa, ok, even though people have probably figured it out by now with the more pcitures...THAT IS SO NOT GUY! :laugh4: that's some random carnie! besides the fact that i always feel bad for looking at pap pics like these...adorable :nice:
  23. i looooooove the clean shaven! and the fact that his hair is growing back :nice:
  24. haha, i woke up to that message on the site about multiple votes. whoops :uhoh: guess we're still winning, though, for the time being
  25. i want pet smilies . haha, the day my hair is well-behaved will go down in history. besides, i haven't straightened it (or changed out of pajamas, which i know you'll find hilarious), in three days. aren't exams and papers LOVELY? betime for me too :nice:
