  1. annie! beautiful pictures! :nice: i wish i could pull off the things you wear like you do...they look amazing on you but absolutely ridiculous on me. and i love your hair (though i know i've said that before)!
  2. approximately 43 times according to itunes and the three times i heard it on radio, but once i plug in my ipod again i'll have an exact number.
  3. ahhh, well i don't know what i would have done with all the free time i would have spent away from coldplaying! probably would have been massively bored and would have taken up some crap hobby. eh, probably not. ANYWAY, my point is, if there was no coldplay, there would be no coldplaying, and, well...i wouldn't have met all the amazing people that are on here, and i would think i was so much more of a freak for being so in love with a band. at the very least, i've found people that get me, and at the very most i've made some amazing friends. but as for coldplay itself...i think my musical tastes would be in a very different direction without them. i don't know if it would be an embarrassing one, like in a fall out boy sort of vein or whatever, but before i found coldplay i only listened to the beatles and music made before 1975 or so, minus U2 and the strokes. i figure i would have continued on down that line and stayed a bit of a hippie rather than growing into having a more comprehensive music taste. without coldplay, i would probably think pretty much all current music is worthless crap, and that's most definitely not true. i'm glad they opened my eyes to that. and i found soooo many bands through this forum, most notably radiohead. i wouldn't be as into half the things i am now without this place, and that would be a major shame. and coldplay have just made me so indescribably happy. i don't think i would have been miserable without them, but i just don't think anything else can fill the hole that would be there. music's never made me feel the way coldplay's has. well, the beatles produce a feeling that's pretty similar in intensity, but it's inherently different. i relate more to the things that coldplay sing about, i feel like they get me more. i don't think that's a feeling you can trade for anything. i remember the day, the minute that i fell in love with coldplay. i'm very grateful that my mom left the TV tuned to VH1 that day, and that the VJs decided to play "speed of sound" the exact moment i was walking through the room to get to the bathroom, because without that moment, who knows what would have happened to me?!
  4. what? i have to say i'm very confused.
  5. a whisper, 1.36, white shadows...i constantly mess up those lyrics. when i actually had a look at the white shadows ones, i was pretty surprised. i thought "blink and miss them" was "blink and glisten," and in low i thought it was "you see the world in black and white/not painted right" rather than "no pain too bright." and i basically have no idea what the 1.36 lyrics are. when i looked them up once and saw the line "i'm nothing but normal" in them, i couldn't believe that was a coldplay lyric i was unaware of.
  6. :D thaaaaanks! :nice: yeah, if he's not talking about the bush adminstration and the state of the economy in that song, then i have no idea what he's talking about. which is why i looooove it so much!
  7. if they don't publish it SOMEWHERE then i think we better polish our pitchforks and light our torches, because it's so beautiful and awesome that they better NOT have just created it for a website they never used or for something commercial like igoogle. i kind of want them to put the cemetaries of london one in particular on a tshirt...:D
  8. i saw a girl in the student union building at my school today wearing a coldplay tshirt. i almost reached out and grabbed her arm like she was a long-lost sister or something :laugh4: i wonder if she got violet hill...:P
  9. ahh, so that's what i get for not reading the thread :P i was just happy that i was satisfied with a version of it! i hope we get official lyrics soon, like in the CD booklet
  10. even though i like a few other songs more than clocks, i still think it's their most "perfect" song, in a way, for every reason you mentioned. it's just so...epic and original, yet classic at the same time. it takes some sort of genius to write any coldplay song, but for some reason, clocks strikes me as the most genius. i think it just blows my mind that no one had ever used such a simple and beautiful riff before 2002. speed of sound is also awesome to me, and it'll always be the song that got me into coldplay, but it doesn't touch clocks.
  11. agreed. i think this is a new era of coldplay lyrics (as well as other things ;)) for sure. these sound so epic and mystical so far! i'm sooo excited to hear this stuff . lyrics have always been a hugely important part of the music i listen to, and even though these we've read so far are very different, i think they have a LOT of potential to be awesome!
  12. ok, i feel like i got my answer to the whole "stow/snow" line thing: I don't want to be a soldier Who the captain of some sinking ship Would stow Far below *whoo*. OK, that one's sorted for me. that makes the most sense out of anything else so far, i think. off to consider the whole "unfolds" bit and the "fog/god" line, which is bothering me.
  13. ooh, thanks everyone! i have to go back and read all of these now. that last one says something about a north american tour this summer rather than the fall...eek. PLEASE don't play NYC/CT till mid august, PLEASE! :P
  14. yeah, i often forget that "clocks" wasn't the first US single. it was played sooo much, especially over here. i still think clocks is their strongest single overall, though.
  15. PAUL MCCARTNEYYYYYYY with CHRIIIIIIISSSS!! i only had seen a really, really tiny version of this pic before so THANKS! this was from live 8, if anyone didn't know :D haha, and it looks like richard ashcroft's face is popping out of paul's jacket like a growth or something :laugh4:
  16. yeahhh, and "see you soon" is my all-time favorite coldplay song ever, so i guess it has the highest chance of being up there. and in thinking about it, "amsterdam," "clocks," and "the scientist" are up there for today too. i'm in a very AROBTTH mood today, and "amsterdam" has been my favorite for the past like, 12 days, ever since i found out that i'll be there for an extended amount of time this summer :P
  17. ^:stunned: mine too. i came to this thread to write the same thing! we have the same brain, i swear.
  18. BAHHHHH, and the ONLY country in the WORLD, seemingly, that the UK shop doesn't ship to is the US! i suppose that's because there's a US shop, but really? if they're going to do that then the two sites should have the same things in them! the british shop has waaaaay better stuff and more of it, BTW. grr. i'm kind of really wanting that "fix you" shirt as well. now i'm seriously considering just saying "hell with it" and ordering the "deluxe" vinyl now.
  19. oooh, is it?! i'm going to see if it's in the american shop, because if it's availible in amercian currency, i'm ordering RIGHT NOW! EDIT: booooo, the US shop doesn't have a music section at all . but the record is two pounds cheaper in the UK coldplay shop, which would save me $4...hmm. but i also probably won't be in the country anymore by the time the thing ships to my house, so i wonder if its just better to wait. [/personal debate]
  20. hmm, this is actually really hard. in some ways, i really agree with what everyone is saying about speed of sound and it's similarity to clocks and how it was their most AROBTTH song on the album, but i just...can't vote for it. i do think it's underrated, and it was THE thing that made me love coldplay. i think it made a lot of converts besides me too, it sparked a lot of interest in the new album, so...i don't know. and IMP and shiver/yellow...there's no way i can vote for those in any way, but they're also so different from VH that it's hard to compare. i'm going to have to say VH, but i feel like it's hard to say that about it when it was only released 4 days ago. i'll be able to make a better call once i've heard the whole album, but because everything on the album is supposed to be so varied, i do wonder about it.
  21. oh man, this is just too tempting. i'm kind of a vinyl freak, and i feel the need to get this to complete my coldplay vinyl collection, and i definitely will get it eventually, but i feel like i should really have a look around america first to see if i can find it here. the exchange rate is just too bad for me to be buying things that will probably be available here as well. 15 pounds = $30 plus shipping, so...argh. i'm keeping this link in mind though! thank you!!
  22. alyssa, that's just AMAZING. i just don't understand how people can do this sort of thing so beautifully, but this is probably the best coldplay drawings i've ever seen! :nice:
  23. thanks for this! wow, if this stuff is NOT in the CD booklet, i think we need to protest and petition, because it's just amazing. all the religious themes in these lyrics!! very interesting  in the bottom left of this, does anyone else see the word "prospekt"? i kind of really hope the meaning behind that name is revealed in the album. i also see what looks like "poppy fields" cut off...interesting that there are song titles in there that we know did not make in on the album. i hope this means that they're DEFINITELY B-sides!
  24. i got quite excited when i saw this thread. alas, i should have known it was too early.
  25. we better get this thing on the forum in its entirety by wednesday or i think i'll explode :P june 12/17 looks farther away than ever, i think, now that we have some idea of how this is going to go. not that getting the songs was a bad thing! it's just so much of a teaser for the entire thing....
