i've never been too picky about sound quality unless it's obviously terrible. i really don't notice a difference in sound between MP3 and CD or whatever because i don't have the best hearing in the world to begin with, but i will say that things sound noticeably better through my bose headphones or the bose sound system we have! i'm kind of really looking forward to taking a night walk on the beach this summer while listening to VLVOD. it seems like it could be potentially amazing, as long as it's not too cold.

i figure the first time i listen to VLVOD will be through a leak, so i won't just be able to throw on the hard copy like i wish i could. i think hard copy, especially in vinyl format, is the best, most cool way to have your first listen to an album. it makes it more...romantic (not like mushy romantic :P) in some way. but really i'm imparticular about HOW i'm listening to it (computer/ipod/CD/record) as long as i AM listening to it! there's a very strong chance that the first time i listen to VLVOD, it'll be on my ipod in the car on a 5 hour carride to the beach. it's not the ideal place to hear it for the first time, especially because i'll be packed in with three other people and a week's worth of stuff, but it doesn't matter so much about the aesthetics, as long as i have the music in my ears. however, if i don't get a leak a day or so before or whatver and have to wait till the 17th, then i plan to download the thing at midnight and take my ipod to the beach by myself and listen to it on the boardwalk. i think THAT would be perfect. and i plan on doing that anyway, even if it's not the first listen.

yeah, i'm not getting my hopes up for a double CD, but the special packaging does make me wonder. however, i think it's got to do with them being environmentally conscious, which i also love, so it's a win either way :smiley: though a few cells of my brain wonder if the super exciting news on monday has anything to do with this...

i'm more of a fan of listening to the music for the first time while not doing anything, because if i'm doing something at the time, whatever i'm doing will forever be associated with that song, and sometimes that's not always a good thing! i like to make the associations in my mind based on what the music makes me think of rather than what i'm doing at the time. for violet hill, since it'll be played so early in my timezone, i'll just be sitting on my bed with headphones on, and i plan to not do anything else while the song is playing besides letting it wash over me. i've been waiting for it too long to get screwed up by me being distracted by something else! but great tips! :D i especially agree with the one about waiting a bit before coming on the board to rip it apart and be swayed by other people's opinions.

haha, i have to say that with all the excitement, i completely forgot about the movie! i thought it was out on april 25 too, but i guess not. whatever: it's not as exciting when we know we're getting a song this tuesday! :dance:

the killers and the strokes, definitely. i suppose DCFC is pretty american...do you think? the shins sound like they could be british too. but really, i have no idea what i'm talking about.

red bull and vodka is potentially fatal if you drink too much. it's like death in a glass, i think, if you go upwards of three. it freaks me out just thinking about it. and it tastes kind of yiccky to me anyway, but that's probably because i'm not a big fan of vodka or especially red bull. coffee and mountain dew are still my caffinated beverages of choice :D caffeine didn't used to affect me either, but then i encountered insomnia somehow and now it's just not a good idea. now if i drink a mountain dew after noon, there's no way i'm getting to sleep before 1AM at the earliest. same with coffee. and i think i'd get mocked for drinking mountain dew with breakfast when i didn't want coffee :P

excuses, excuses :P unfortunately, we've always got pringles around the house, which doesn't do much to help the inevitable excessive pudginess. it is good for the cravings though...

HAHAHA this is absolutely BRILLIANT! but honestly, how are you surviving this crisis?! my pringle consumption rate has flown up dramatically since the creation of this thread (even though it was pretty high to begin with), but yours has gone DOWN?! what is this?! if you don't remedy this problem soon, i'm afraid i'm going to have to mail an emergency ration of pringles to you in a box marked with a red cross, because this is getting ridiculous. if you even dare to reach condition zero before june 13/16/17, i don't know what i'll do. cry lots, probably. so save yourself before it's too late!

is it sad that the early release of VLVOD in the netherlands was one of the first things that came to mind when i found out i'd be living in the netherlands? i suppose it is, but i promise that other things were thought of first :P oh yes, i'll have listened to VLVOD countless times by the time i get on that plane, but i'm fine with that. besides, because it gets released on friday the 13th (eek!) in most EU countries and maybe even in the UK, i figure we'll get an online leak then anyway, so no problem here :D

i REALLY hope it's this, actually! as long as they do it after may 9, i'm good :D

mountain dew is like my favorite thing ever. i've completely stopped letting myself drink it because it severely messes with my sleep schedule and can make me a bit whacky, but i love it sooo much. actually, i did have some last weekend because i was going to stay up late, and over the summer once i don't have to get up early anymore, i'll be back on it. i don't like cola at all, coke or pepsi, for some reason. but i think that they taste pretty much identical, so who really knows.

^haha, yeah, you're right. i just wonder that if they just let up on the secrecy and separation a tiny little bit, they might not be AS hounded, because really, it seems as though they have it the worst out of most celebrity couples, and i think their intense secrecy might have something to do with that.

does anyone think that they'll put the song up on the site for download on/around tuesday as well? apparently chris DID say that it was going to be "download only," so i'm hopeful...i just wonder WHEN it'll get up on the site seeing has how much of a slowpoke prospekt is and the lack of stars or a new site lately. i really, really hope it's up on the site on tuesday, though...that'll save the worry of who recorded it etc etc (though someone PLEASE still do!)

oh my gosh, that's just SUCH a great story. i have to say that i'm terribly jealous, but also incredibly happy for you! you're one of the luckiest people on here, i think, to have met them and had a real conversation with him AND getting real information out of him! i just can't imagine what i would have done...probably made a huge fool out of myself in one way or another. you seem to have handled it extremely well! and thank you so much for sharing that information with us, first through ian and then telling your story on here. we salivate at every little bit of news, and this was more than just a little bit of news at the time!

yeah, i think i completely understand where chris is coming from and why he doesn't want to be photographed etc etc, but i thought they would have figured out by now that staying hidden and apart just makes it worse. let them get a few pics a year and the paparazzi will chill out a bit (well, a little).

if only i was going to the netherlands two weeks earlier!!! then i'd be there right when VLVOD comes out and get it four days early. hmm, maybe i could change my plans...:laugh4:

BST is british summer time, right? so noon for you guys in england is still 7AM for me EST? if i miss this because of a time-zone fuck up, i'm going to FREAK. and someone PLEAAAAAASE needs to try to record it if they can for all the people that can't tune in. besides, i think we'll all be devestated if we can only hear it ONCE. i mean, of course they'll play it again on radio, but i'd love to be able to listen to it when i want to and pound it into my head rather than stalking the radio for days just so i can hear it enough :P

same! and he's the spitting image of his father :shy: anyway, yes, i think that's definitely right, and i think that they deserve it as well. they make great music and they're great people that don't live the "rock star" lifestyle with that money. i can't think of better people to be on that list.
