saw U23D tonight, and there was a bit in it where bono goes up to adam clayton and kisses him just like chris does to jonny. i thought of chris and jonny immediately, but my mom turned to me and said "remind you of anyone?" :dozey:

i'm pretty sure i've seen it before. i can't think of an example, but i think it's happened. or maybe those were just those intentionally locked threads that you can't reply to? i might be wrong. getting kind of "spoiler-happy" these days, huh, semy? :laugh1:

has anyone else seen U23D? i thought it was pretty damn mind-blowing, a) because it's U2, but b) because of this brand-new technology. it wasn't like those cheesy 3D movies we've all seen where a few of the figures stand out from the background like cardboard cut outs and are really just 2D figures on a different plane from the background--this is like how things ACTUALLY are. the stand-out figures (which is pretty much everything, not just the focus of the shot) are truly 3D and contoured, and the depth of the entire picture is mindblowing. you're pretty much convinced that you're standing on the stage with bono and the edge, it's that impressive. you feel like you're actually there, and you want to punch out the girl on her boyfriend's shoulders in front of you because she's blocking your view, and you want to slap away all the hands that get too close to you. amazing :freak:. i think this is a pretty big step towards the film of the future. has anyone else seen it?

i said i was a vegetarian from 2003 to late 2007. i just dont really like meat, so it seemed like a no-big-deal thing to do. i did eat chicken, though, and i would slip up on occasion with bacon and hot dogs. lots and lots of my friends and people i know are vegetarians, so it wasnt a big deal in that sense. it's just that, well, i don't like most foods in general, and i would get made fun of because i was a vegetarian that didnt eat many vegetables. so late last year, i just stopped saying i was a vegetarian because i was sick of being mocked. on occasion i'll eat chicken or bacon or a hot dog, but i haven't changed my diet at all.

yeah, that's what i meant by computer stuff :D. it's always interested me, but i pretty nuch suck at even photoshop now, so who knows if that can go anywhere. i'd definitely prefer to be on the writing/directing side of things. i wouldn't say i'm great at creative writing, but i'm getting there! coming up with ideas is always the hardest part for me by far. once i have an idea, off i go ;) of course we can dream! our animated film will be the best thing since...well, i don't know what, but the animation will beat ratitouille! (sp?)

i haven't really planned any sort of celebration beyond just listening to the thing. but i'll have to think up a good way to have a party with myself to celebrate. i don't know what yet. when we do get a release date/album title/possible song ("violet hill"), though, i plan to put my "in my place" single on the record player and dance around (assuming that we get th info this week while i'm at home...that's too embarrassing to do at uni!)

HAHAHA, what a great interview. but since when does chris not swear? i've seen them twice, and chris has used the f-word more than any other artist i've seen, i think. well, ok, but he uses it a lot. i guess it's just that this is an old interview. because he's actually a right potty-mouth.

thanks, i'm beginning to believe all those things now as well :D. but i've decided in the past few months that i'm only going to quit working towards film if i end up destitute in a trailer outside of LA with an ancient laptop and have to steal wifi from the nearest starbucks. that might be a clear sign that it's not working out :laugh4: and animation sounds awesome. if i was a better artist i would love to do that, but the only thing i can draw is a yellow submarine, so that's pretty much out. i think with the right training i could become somewhat competent at computer stuff, though. we ought to combine our efforts, semy :P. and i'll see you on the set of a blockbuster movie someday :lol:

:shocked2: well, i can say that you have quite a talent with photoshop! everything i've seen you do is pretty damn impressive quality-wise! i can barely get beyond using brushes and adding text!

hahaha, i know EXACTLY what you're talking about. when i'm not at uni, my bedtime is 1AM, which should be just about now, but it's actually 2AM because of DST and i feel like i'm being naughty by staying up this late. i'm an insomniac on a regular basis, anyway, so DST really doesn't help matters. quick interesting fact, though: DST is actually a british invention! i know we americans have screwed it up even more recently by making it earlier in the year in the name of saving energy (i don't think that it's making any noticible difference in energy consumption...), but the idea of DST was invented by william willett in 1905 in england. and just GUESS who mr. willett's direct descendant is? :D CHRIS MARTIN!! i can't hate DST too too much knowing this awesome little bit of trivia. i hate to break up the little party rick and rudy are having, but... i want to be a renowned film screenwriter/director when i grow up. the idea has been at the back of my mind since i was about 5, i would say, but only recently have i taken real steps toward this dream--before i always thought it was too impractical and unrealistic to pursue. but in the past year i've said "screw it" and am now at college (uni) to study film and the media despite the odds and impracticality. i'll even be ok if i never get to write or direct, but i need to work in the industry somehow, even if it's just in editing or effects or something. so there we go :D my ultimate goal is to some day maybe get an oscar/golden globe nomination for something i've worked on in some form. kind of a lofty goal, eh? :P

i would bet chris would put it in a more public place, but i don't know where. he's often said everything in his life is on his hand, but perhaps the wedding ring covers his hand's representation of gwyneth... perhaps the G and the J could go on his ankles? but that's kind of a girly place for a tat.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh man, this cracked me up. it is cute, though, if its true, and it makes me feel better about their relationship's stability. but from the article, it feels like it was done more for publiticty than out of true love--it seems like gwyneth knew that the info would get out and that's how she wanted it to be, just so everyone would shut up. well, i suppose that's a smart way of doing it! now how much do we want to bet that chris is going to go out and get a "G" to add to his collection of "A" and "M"? :laugh1:

i'm hopeful that they'll tell us this week as well, but then again, that's what i said last week. i really need to stop going on about it but i want to know so badly...so far 2008 has been not a great year in my book, especially compared to 2007, and i could really use something like a coldplay album to make the year start looking up. but even if i was as happy as i was three months ago, I'D STILL WANT TO KNOW. in the next week, i'm going to try to keep my mouth shut about wanting THE star because a large portion of my time here in the past month has been spent whining. but if there's nothing up by next saturday, let's say....well then, i might go crackers :freak: :D

^i have checked out the versions on youtube, and i think theyre absolutely brilliant. but i personally don't really see enough of a difference to see what makes those versions better than the studio one...whatever, to each their own :D. there's not a song on this album that i would be upset about moving on, so i suppose that means that there's nothing i'm too too upset about being eliminated. even if i was hoping for videotape and jigsaw to make it to the end. and i think of all the things on disc 2, last flowers and especially down is the new up should have made it to the first disc, though i don't know what in place of. perhaps nude and...i don't know, all i need? i think it's pretty great that everyone has their own song that their willing to fight for, whereas with most other albums, everyone's favorites in general are fairly similar. this one defies that, i think because it's their strongest album as a whole IMO.
