  1. :freak: that's SO awesome! Ohhhh man, I wonder what they'll say at Wembley...
  2. Man, my K-12 education cost more than most countries' university costs :P. Basically, lots of people pay off loans until they're elderly :P. Ok, not THAT long, but well into their 30s in some cases. I'm just pessimistic about US education in general, especially the costs. Some people also get financial aid or scholarships based on certain things, but getting them can be harder than they look in lots of cases. Being a WHITE GIRL from CONNECTICUT in my case didn't help matters :P.

I mentioned this in the Gwyneth thread, but I had an unusually vivid dream a few nights ago that Gwyneth and I became BFFs after we so happened to be sitting next to each other at a Coldplay concert. She started to invite me over to her house all the time and gave me lots of her old clothes (I'm so much shorter than her, I don't know how that worked, but whatever ). The first time I went over her house, I was completely mortified because Chris was there and didn't want to act like a fangirl or anything. I couldn't look directly at him because he was so beautiful and I couldn't trust myself with what I would do/say if I looked him in the eyes :P. In the dream, their house was modern and had a weird layout, but it was cozy and lived-in looking with the kids' toys all over the place. Some other time, Gwyneth and I went out shopping and came across another celebrity (who I think was supposed to be Winona Ryder), and she was so mean and obnoxious to Gwyneth that she went to cry in the dressing room and I had to cheer her up . I think I woke up to roll over or something, because in the next part of the dream I was Apple and Moses's nanny and Chris and Gwyneth were throwing a sort of house party. It was in the same house from the first part of the dream, but I'm counting it as a separate dream, because what person is bitchy enough to have a best friend and then use her as her nanny? I've actually had a lot of Coldplay-related dreams lately, but lots of them I can't remember fully.
  4. That's how American private higher education is. You pay out the ass for it, and in most cases I wonder if it was worth it at all. The top universities in England and Canada are a fraction of the price, for example. You can get slightly cheaper public higher education over here, like if I went to Connecticut state universities, I would save $20,000 or so, but there are reasons why that wouldn't have worked well for me. At this point in my life, I'm majorly kicking myself for not directly enrolling in a British university for my entire education, but at the time I was applying for all this stuff back in 2006, the prospect of being that far from home for that long was too much. Now I would give anything to be there full-time, and so would my bank account :P.
  5. A note on expenses about university overseas, based on my experience. I'm an American who attends an American university/college. My tuition is about $42,000/year. The coming year, I am attending a British university. Because I'm going on a program based out of my American university/college, I'm still paying $42,000/year to go to the British uni, even though if I were to directly enroll in the British uni, it would probably cost me less than $10,000/year. I know America has the reputation for having the best universities in the world (for the most part), but honestly, the price you pay for it is a TOTAL and COMPLETE rip-off. I'm not saying don't look at American universities, I'm just saying beware of how much more money you'll be shelling out if you go to one, versus a comparable school in the UK or Canada or other countries. To the thread author: I'm attending a British university for the coming year (perhaps longer), so if you have questions, feel free to ask me anything :nice:. Since I haven't started just yet, I could mostly answer things about visas and other preparations (and boy do I have a lot to say about that hellish process :P), but feel free to ask, and I could probably find out .
  6. Nice of them to confirm that :D. I bet so many people are relieved :nice:. Note that there's no word on Chris's well-being :dozey: :P.
  7. Aww, yay! :nice: Which style were you wearing, out of curiosity? We know that some people high in the Coldplay camp know what we're doing, but I bet the band has no idea until now! :P Also, random, but I've worn my "limited edition" old style shirt to bed a few times now and have washed and dried it, and as expected, it shrunk to a much better size for me :D. So just FYI to everyone else: the shirt does shrink slightly .
  8. Unfortunately, not at my uni. Classes start that Monday, so all orientation has to be done before then, i.e., that weekend. I'm not saying every second of that weekend will necessarily be scheduled, but I wonder what I'll be missing and how vital it is, because something will definitely be going on. Anyway, my mindset is I'M 90% SURE I'M PLAYING HOOKY, so things look good for the concert, though probably not the pre- and post- meet-ups.
  9. Haha, well not NO more worrying, no, but I'm more confident than I was before. My registration appointment (the most important thing of orientation) is scheduled for that Friday, so my Saturday *appears* like it'll be less vital for now, but I don't know exactly what IS scheduled for Saturday. All I know is that the most important thing will be out of the way (because I basically COULDN'T miss that). As long as there's nothing else absolutely vital that Saturday, I'm playing hooky, so I'm likw 90% sure I'm going, I guess. I just hope I'm not brutally punished for it later :P.
  10. I just don't understand why there's so much to hate. I feel like Chris and Gwyneth are one of the most misunderstood celebrity couples out there. On a random note, I had a very vivid dream a few nights ago that Gwyneth and I became BFFs and I went over her house all the time and she gave me clothes. And I would get very embarrassed whenever Chris was around and couldn't look straight at him because he was too beautiful . How I wish even one tiny part of that dream were true :P.
  11. I got my timetable for uni and it looks like I don't have classes on Mondays, so if there's nothing that pressing going on back at uni on Sunday, I'm going to try my damndest to get to this! Like I say, though, I might have to miss it just to save face with my program coordinator . I think what someone said earlier about proximity to the Wembley area is a good point, but using the Tube etc, it's really not hard to get to Russell Square that Angie suggested... I'm going to be in London for a month before this gig, so I'll try to scope out some other places if we feel we need more options .
  12. Parasol . I doubt the gig will be rescheduled so it takes place in the near future...I'm thinking October or November just for scheduling reasons: they're fully booked until mid September as it is. Maybe I shouldn't say this to freak anyone out, but my suspicions are H1N1 :uhoh:.
  13. Awesome photos :wideeyed:. However, filler posts like that make me nervous as well...if they say "medical reasons" they must know we're all freaking out. I know Chris is a really private person and all that, but some sort of inkling of what's going on would be nice. [/asking too much]
  14. ALSO: What do people think of those really sheer tissue-thin tshirts you can see through? OBVIOUSLY you have to wear something underneath, which I do, but it's usually a tank top so I feel like it looks somewhat weird to have most of the shirt opaque but then your arms or whatever looking all pink. I didn't describe that well, but I just bought a heather grey shirtdress which is completely see-through, so I had to buy a tank-dress to go underneath, and I feel it looks somewhat strange.
  15. I'm actually surprised her feed wasn't locked...she makes no secret of who she is and who she's travelling with...I swear there's Gwyneth in a few pictures too. I'll probably stop following her, but I might occasionally peek at the pictures :P.
  16. Exactly my thinking, but there are a bunch of others, so I clicked "follow" for now. I can always remove it later when the guilt overtakes me :P.
  17. Is it stalkery/creepy to follow her? :P It's just that she posts occasional adorable pictures of Jonny...
  18. Haha, sorry, no new news. I know I'm late, but this is what happens when you're busy as balls and your computer is in the shop :P. I would certainly like to know what's wrong with Chrissy and how he's doing . Like Mich said, the fact that they said "medical reasons" kinda freaked me out. I can't even describe how upset I'd be if something serious happened to that man, and I'm sure you'd all feel the same .
  19. YAY front-rwo whippersnappers for getting a sign on CP.com! But this depresses me: I'm pretty much THE only one who love Chris's hair the way it is now, but he made the same remark in Toronto too...which means he's probably serious about taking thte buzz-cutter to it soon :bigcry:. He's going to be bald at Wembley, I know it  :bigcry:.
  20. In case anyone was DYING to know, I got the silver ones because they got my size in the store :D. I'm just hiding them until I leave for London next week so no one knows I bought ANOTHER pair of shoes :uhoh:.
  21. Sorry the first post wasn't updated in a timely fashion...damn vacation and computer repairs :P.
  22. Sorry for the delay in updating the title/first post...Anna's design is now on sale :D.
  23. I have to say I'm slightly worried about moving to the UK with all this H1N1 going on...firstly because it's more rampant there than it is here, but secondly because I'm going to be in much more frequent contact with other people, using public transport all the time and living in hotels and dorms...I usually avoid most vaccines, but when/if there's one for H1N1, I'm almost definitely getting it.
  24. I just picked up the AWESOME Toronto poster at the Toronto show :wacky: I can't wait to see what the Wembley one looks like! (I'm assuming there will be a Wembley one, anyway...that's a pretty big show!)
  25. Ooh, pictures? :shy: Especially of the circle scarf...I think I'll have to try one on when I get to London and therefore close vicinity to an AA store :D.
