  1. Great interpretation. To me, Violet Hill is about unrequited love against the backdrop of a declining economy and a hectic political climate. Then again, I sort of personalized the song's meaning to better fit what I'm going through now.
  2. Wait, people actually pay attention to Pitchfork? As soon as I read one of their reviews, I could tell they were a bunch of pretentious hipsters that would gladly put their collective mouth on Thom Yorke's...well, you can see where I'm going with this. So yeah. Pitchfork. I hate 'em.
  3. The one thing that irked me about this song was the overuse of the synthesizer at the beginning. Sure 10-15 seconds of it is nice, but the intro lasts for about 40 seconds! And there aren't any memorable things about the intro. At least in Square One you had Johnny playing that 2001-ish (the movie, not the year) guitar riff. But this one was just 40 seconds of plain ambiance. Didn't really like that.
  4. I wouldn't delete this thread. I believe this site should be a place to discuss what we like and what we don't like about Coldplay. Not a virtual church dedicated to how awesome Coldplay is (though they are awesome). Then again, I'm not an admin, so I have no say over what this site should be and what shouldn't. Just giving my two cents.
  5. The guitar solo is okay. While the riff is certainly no Iron Man or Smoke on the Water (in terms of how catchy it is), it definitely defines Coldplay's new style. I just wish there was more improvisation on Johnny's part. This morning I found myself singing a guitar solo! :laugh3:
  6. Well, I just listened to the first 60 seconds of it. Gonna give it a full listen in my car this morning. So far, it's alright. Then again, I haven't heard the whole thing. I'm probably going to love it though!
  7. Stepping in a puddle of liquid with socks on Artificial sweeteners Getting caught staring at a complete stranger Trying to avoid interacting with the guy at the other urinal while he tries to do the same The tedious process of removing a piece you accidentally dropped in the wrong slot while playing Connect Four Holding the ketchup bottle over your fries and the first thing coming out is red water Restarting a slow computer Having someone about to merge into the same lane as you, but both of you not knowing whether to slow down or speed up When you're about to go to sleep and hear a noise in another room, scared that it could be a burglar or something, but doing nothing about it...Yeah. So post yours!
  8. Didn't see a thread about bands that nobody knows about, either because they're new or not mainstream. So I'm gonna start by plugging Flobots. They're an indie rap group with an interesting hard rock sound to their music. It's not as heavy as something like Slipknot or Korn, nor as crappy. They talk about politics and other hard-hitting issues. They remind me of Rage Against the Machine, but without the stupid. Here's one of their songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waRtcBy_GMI
  9. ...Are you one of those people?
  10. I'm going to go ahead and bump this. Audiosurf goes perfectly with anything from X&Y. The distinct hard and soft parts of each song give the player an interesting track to play on. The art style fits really well with the synthesizers and strings of the album. For a real treat, play Square One, especially if you have a really good computer.
  11. Indeed. Your name is awesome too. Would you like to play sometime? My friend code is 1719-2909-4437.
  12. Well I for one would like for Coldplay to pull one out of left field and get Lupe Fiasco to tour with them, but that most likely won't happen.
  13. Let's start a thread consisting of opinions we have that probably won't be shared with others around here. I'll start! When it comes to ranking their albums, Parachutes and X&Y are tied for the best, while Rush of Blood is in a distant third/second. Swallowed in the Sea is an awesome song, both musically and lyrically. In My Place isn't very good unless sung live, with an entire crowd providing backing vocals.
  14. Y'know how Chris sometimes does a minute or two of some absurdly cheesy song? He should do a minute or two of . On a more serious note, while I agree with the whole "no Radiohead" thing, I think they would do an interesting Weird Fishes/Arpeggi cover.
  15. Haha! Well played, Yamfox. I can't get enough of that song :laugh3:

That being said, here's a mashup of Crank Dat and God Put a Smile Upon Your Face. While I realize it may offend some of you here, I found it to be hilarious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgceN0U7HQs
  17. :laugh3: I've seen those before. Quite possibly the only good thing to come from MadTV.
  18. I'm being serious here. I've been reading YouTube comments and posts on other forums left and right about how he's so arrogant and self-centered. Honestly, I don't see how someone can draw that conclusion. Sure some people might see the band as "Chris Martin and three other dudes" just as some people see U2 as "Bono and three other dudes", but that's only because they're lead singers! Lead singers always get the attention, regardless of what band they're in. So with that out of the way, can anyone direct me to evidence supporting the theory that Chris has this "I'm the greatest person in the world and you three other dudes would be nothing without me" mentality? And sorry if I come off as hostile or something. I'm just really curious.
  19. First of all, Dani Filth lost any credibility/maturity he had (that is, assuming he had any to begin with) when he changed his name to Filth. Secondly, death metal? You mean the sort of music with nonsensical solos and lyrics along the lines of "BLARGH WE HAET GOD AND TEH DEVIL IS COOL I SURE HOPE WE OFEND SUM1 LOL"? Yeah, not too into that stuff. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I just had to find a way to express my burning, unfathomable hate for all metal produced after the '80s. As for the fight, I guess he looks kinda tough, but after seeing Chris knock down that paparazzi, I guess anything could happen! :laugh3:
  20. Can't remember my Wii FC, but if anyone's got Super Smash Brothers Brawl, my friend code is 1719-2909-4437 and my name is SNiG. Play against me and be prepared to succumb to the awesomeness known as Solid Snake!
  21. Here's five minutes of me not doing homework. If you guys like it and would like the wallpaper in another size, just ask.
  22. I've only heard Discovery, but from what I can tell, Daft Punk is amazing. What should be the next Daft Punk album I purchase, Human After All or Homework?
  23. I really don't watch much anime, but Paranoia Agent is amazing. Lots of "WTF" moments and a really intricate plot make it worth watching.
  24. It isn't America he's mad at, it's the television industry. Reality TV directors and producers do all sorts of crap like that. It's very commonplace, which is why I hate "reality" TV.
  25. Ode to Deodorant! I love that song! :P "The sand"
