  1. Random Facts - Coldplay likes their paper from trees via Sustainable Forestry..
  2. :rolleyes::laugh3:
  3. splitting atoms, not hairs.. True, but for some, but for some.. It's a possibility. I recall Peter Best's frustration with the Beatles, as they never really gave him credit.. It could be either way, I'm just not sure. But for so small a fragment, and from so limited a number of chords in succession, I'm thinking this is a wee bit of a stretch..;)
  4. Radio-Head is good-bizarre! :square: I'm not making any judgments - just stating fact. Rainbow_head in Radio_s....:P
  5. Coldplay are Indie rock, alt-rock, synth-rock.. Joe's probably just wanting the spotlight again, like any older musician.. Let Joe Satriani's music speak for itself - if he's so good, then he ought to be able to outsell Coldplay with his stuff, and then there would be no reason to sue! How many lawsuits go after smaller musical acts?
  6. YAY! Another freed soul!:)
  7. Umm.. Yes! Get some help ASAP!;) My Aunt is on oxygen for emphysema, and she really gets short of breath at times, and I know people who have acute asthma attacks, but better get some professional help ASAP, and see a knowledgeable specialist. It could also be from an allergic reaction to something - lots of triggering mechanisms.. But yea, go see a doc rightaway!
  8. Bienvenido - Welcome Juan !!:hat: Glad you could join in the merriment!!

Well, just get lost then!:P Yes, some are gems, and some are coal. But even jet can shine if you give it a polish..
  10. Exactly!;)
  11. :)Hola! 520 Pesos en total for what is this?
  12. Alright! But I feel it would be better to simply mandate "bio-degradability", as the real issue seems more a matter of how the material affects the environment, although the sheer volume of bags in enormous (although, how does this compare to the sheer number of un-recycled plastic containers?). It's a visible things - and a big part of what's gumming up the oceans, but to ban something in this manner is a bit too clumsy of a way of handling the issue (least to me it seems!). I'd be all for something to solve the problem here as well - but bags made of biodegradable plastic, fiber, or paper would all seem just fine as well. I believe the issue is more with pricing externalities into the product, and only banning the worst types of materials which have good replacements for most applications.. I usually take the shipping boxes with my groceries, and then recycle the cardboard - it's a bit more clutter, but works as well in reducing the problem..
  13. Science can be conducted for the purposes of seeking the truth above all else by any number of individuals if it is funded (basic research, that is) in a manner that rewards good science (that which uses the scientific method properly), respectful teamwork, and is conducted in a manner isolated from moneyed influences of all types. But unfortunately, basic research is often the thing most often not funded, and collaborative, reflective thinkers find little room in the competitive and group-think world that often exists at many a research institute.. But as far as becoming a political tool, I am inclined to agree in certain instances, and not in others. One has to look carefully at the science being conducted, and if critical thinking is being applied to test the assumptions - which varies. There's also the issue of upsetting long-standing pet theories held by esteemed faculty members; some of ideas which should be supplanted with better ones are often held back not by the influence of money or politics, but more by the loyalty oath one takes to the older faculty in the field.
  14. My views differ slightly - I believe that the government is the will of the people, and a tempering device to prevent rash ideas from rushing ahead. What's missing is honest government that respects and reflects the intelligent broad values of the citizenry. Key in this is education and fair elections - without which, the Enron heads of the world get their way, to the detriment of the whole. But yes, there is an addiction to violent policies - perhaps as a distraction, but more for egotistical and arrogant goals that cannot succeed because they are overly simplistic, neglecting the human element in the equation. :laugh3: And California is perennially in some form of economic trouble.. Even The Terminator cannot save them now!:P
  15. ...Or making politicians accountable to the will of an educated citizenry! The body politic needs better smarts to better regulate what it does to itself...
  16. Well, I think stupidity is cyclical. Every 30 years, a stupid war. Every 15 years, mass myopia and corrupt gamblers rig the markets for failure.. Just my pet theories, but it kinda does seem that way...
  17. And no wonder he got tired of listening to Coldplay - "My favorite album is A rush of blood to the head. It's just awesome even after listening hundreds of times!":laugh3: Sheesh, that's a wee bit much! But he did say "this is the perfect one" about the forum!
  18. It's not so bad - our fellow citizens will lean to garden, learn to save, and they'll be healthier since nobody can afford the Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey!:laugh3: (no offense to Ben & Jerry's fans - it's just the name on the flavor that's soo funny!) But really, they wait until there's absolute proof of a recession before the official word goes out.

  20. I see - Tasmania then?!:laugh3: (nah, I getchya! Aussielander!) Well, how do you feel about your government abolishing plastic shopping bags??:inquisitive:
  21. Sounds oddly pleasant, as the temperature outside here is -14C, and set to fall well below that tonight..:laugh3: Our summers are short, but pleasant - swimming's very popular here as well. Enjoy the water!
  22. "... Steaming forty five degrees!" - something from a song I remember.;) I'm trying for 40 Degrees here in the cellar. Wood heat - Norwegian wood. Holy Cats, 40 C is on par with roughly 103 F! That's a might bit toasty, mate! How do you manage?
  23. You can't own the commons. People try - they try to own water; they try to own the frequency spectrum; they try to own the oceans; they try to own simple common ideas; but truthfully, they're all breaking a covenant between all the Earth's inhabitants - we cannot possess what is ubiquitous.
  24. Okie Dokie!:lol: Just funny how coincidental the world is.. Enjoy the show, and root for the Drummer!
