  1. Modest Mouse definatly, they're like an actually inteligent british indie band.
  2. Just vinil, whats the point? But its coldplay guys don't worry they will release it as a CD as so many people would buy it.
  3. Yes they have a similar sound by and large. Just like every band out there ever!
  4. FPT is Radiohead's best ballad, SS is their most terrifying song. High and dry, were its accoustic pop, it just doesn't compete.
  5. Every comment he says is gold tho, selling his villa in Spain because James Blunt moved in is snobby enough, but then publicing it, LOL
  6. Thanks, the main problem I have is making songs that are usual form, bridges, choruses and verses. I can never really finish a song. Ive tried writing down what each block of the song is designed to do ie describe (first verse), provide power (chorus) ectra, but it doesn't seem to help. Ill show you somethings im not happy with and i'm dying to finish at this stage suggestions would be great. I stumbled upon a secret today, The ex found someone new, I didn’t keep my options open, They did, oh they did. Don’t get me wrong I don’t want you back, I just wanna tell you what you’re missing, I meant what I said. I’m not one to hold onto things that have passed and died, But if you tell me you’re in love again then lord I’ve tried, But some people, well you never can tell, Heart and substance, those two don’t gel. You cost me a lot of sleep, Sitting here worrying, I didn’t keep my options open, You did oh yeah you did. Don’t get me wrong I don’t want you back, I just want to tell you what you’re missing, I meant what I said. I’m not one to hold onto things that have passed and died, But if you tell me you’re in love again then lord I’ve tried, But some people, well you never can tell, Heart and substance, those two don’t gel. Don’t get me wrong I don’t want you back, Just want to sit you down in a room, Tell you what you’re missing, I meant what I said. (Fade out) Oh yeah, I meant what I said, I meant it baby, Hang on, I did Oh yeah ---------- 3. Needs chorus, lone phrase to pin it all down 'wishing I was bulletproof' for eg and more lines Trying to create that feeling of walking home alone. What can we do? I still don’t get why, I believe, I don’t know what anymore. I used to salute the driver, But they weren’t paying attention, I’m trying to be normal, Creating barriers, It’s taking forever. Strange people avoiding eye contact, Floating away, living for the weekend, Going to lengths to avoid people, Drowning in a vast sea, We don’t understand, we don’t relate, Hat-ing little children, Pure Faked sympathy, Whilst trying to get a reaction.
  7. Really struggling with this. I seem to have made a few good lyrics for a few songs but im finding it really hard to write more quality songs. I think the problem is i'm not articulate enough to do it. Im a good poet tho, its the transition im having trouble with. Or I feel im ripping off music I listen to a lot, my lyrics end up Radiohead/Coldplayish music but from the heart but all I seem to write is really depressing songs. And at the end of the day, I want to be individual. Plus im just having trouble figuring out how to write songs, despite tutorials. The basic lyrical structure for example. Any help or methods you guys use would be great. -My most Coldplayeske song Supermodel Supermodel (played down acoustic, bit of piano, electric guitar and drums come in heavy at the end) I’m getting sick of needing to tell people, Don't concern yourself with the human mannequin, He's as scared of us as we are of him, He just hides it behind his looks. And no I don't have a perfect body, And no I'm no supermodel, But I’ve got a lot to offer, It just takes time to surface. And no I can't tell good jokes, And I don’t have much of a presence, And I have to think too hard to succeed, I'm always defensive. I'm chemically imbalanced. (Lighter vocal) I got to tell you something, we all feel like you We all wonder what we'd do, When its time. We don't succeed in this social game, You'll never elevate yourself above the shame, But you you'll never be happy, If you prefer being down. Don't concern yourself with the human mannequin, He's as scared of us as we are of him, He just hides it behind his looks. Oooooooo, Oooooooo (rp) But who'll pull you back from such a dream? Just you, just you. (Silence for the impact of the next song)
  8. Allow me to show you what the poster on that forum did. The new Coldplay single is out on the 32nd of September guys
  9. As in its before the release of the album? I dunno bout you but i cant remember any of these rumours people got excited for ever being right. You'll know when Coldplay announces it, or their marketing, not before.
  10. Their invisible! But they are there
  11. High and dry / Planet Telax... i could choose so i picked the one i though would least need my help. Looks like Telax was a good choice
  12. And TBH I don't want to see so many people in EMI lose their jobs, even if I don't like the leadership.
  13. Shame, their the most sensationalist news paper ever, makes em the most fun to read!
  14. LOL a daily mail article
  15. I think you've basically picked 3 bands with a pattern that arn't even closely related to each other (not even all british) and assumed theres a pattern. Most bands realise not to make the same album 3 times. The Beatles have different discographies for each continent anyway, their first genre pushing album Rubber Soul was followed by Revolver, then Stg Pepper which was pure experimentation, there is no pattern of 2 albums then a revolution to the beatles. U2, well The Unforgettable fire / War and The Joshua Tree (3 consecutive albums are pretty similar to me) And Coldplay, well I think X&Y's a big departure from the first 2. I think you'll find there is no higher purpose to rock music except that the artists want to push the boundies. And I wouldn't choose U2 and Coldplay against the almighty experimental beatles anyway. Escapecially when U2's experiments with electronics were horrible albums. And Im starting to doubt this is Coldplay's Auchtung baby, looks more like their Urban Hymn's to me.
  16. This is the hardest one yet
  17. They said this about X&Y, EMI is still here, I find it hard to believe Coldplay are all EMI have going for them at the moment.
  18. New albums got a name, Ode to J. Smith Due late Summer 2008
  19. This will be their best, I love A Rush of Blood, its epic! but this one seems to have been built up from the ground up as an almost conceptual album about life and death, to me its life affirming. Coldplay's very own Urban Hymn's
  20. I have such a weak point for Planet Telex, its just the perfect opener and I love how it feels like a train whizzing past. The Bends was one of my first RH songs, I still think its one of their best, I'd love to do it in karoke. High and dry, I heard this back in the 90's when I didn't really get music (being about 7) rediscovering it as my 3rd Radiohead when I was getting into them confirmed to me I was going to love this band. FPT (I love this one, its a similar structure to creep but that just makes creep redundent and this brilliant) Just, is my ring tone, after a year and a bit theres no better way to announce a call than that build up, I just love this song its RH's best rocker up with Electioneering and Polyethelene. My Iron Lung is what i voted for, I like it, but its not love, it wasn't something ive voted since the start tho. And Street spirit is just wow, its got so much meloncoly beauty!
  21. Dunno what you mean by Same, so ill assume its a Snow Patrol song 6/10 The beatuful occupation - Travis
  22. 5 for Street spirit? but nobody explaining why they voted for it. They cant justify it, thats why
  23. Propably... I cant think of that many beatles albums which didn't have filler and Coldplay songs tend to be more than 2 minutes and a half each. Actually the average beatles album is 40 minutes, as long as CP's latest.
  24. Well I don't think Coldplay were a great band pre X&Y, I think they were always a great band. X&Y isn't even that different to their sound apart from some questionable lyrics X&Y is a great album.
  25. That track that feels like 3 unrelated storys stuck together... A day in the life / Paranoid andriod - thats what i thought of. Excited now :) No doubt the lead single will be a double A side, since they have so many quality songs they didn't put on the album. Im guessing this album will be treat like Kid A or Led Zepplin, very few singles from the main album (to none) so its appreciated as a body of work rather than an assortment of songs) and maybe an EP somewhere down the line.
