  1. Hes a good writer, he brings some good points. But he just can't relate to the music, thats his problem. Same with me and metal, I just dont blog about it. But if I did id do as much research as this guy has. So while i dont agree with him, he sounds like the kinda blogger you can have a decent debate with.
  2. The answer is yes it will matter in the long run, but not really with Rainy Day, since its so distorted anyway. The difference between capo first fret and no capo is minimal. Learn it as it is, then get a capo, easier than working out how the chords change. But yes, the chords do change to new chords with the capo. You'd need to learn some dull music theory to figure out the new chords.
  3. StephenG replied to CMJBGBWC's topic in Coldplay
    VLV sounds like Sigur Ros.
  4. It resolves beautifully, with rising guitars and chris giving us his most clean vocal yet and he tears out his soul (or something) Where really could this go? a guitar solo? I think not. Perfect song as it is. Far better than the next best thing Everybody hurts.
  5. Stop repeating dam countries, this was not what this thread was about. Anyhow I say no more acoustic stuff, Coldplay have done this to death. Go the opposite and get heavy, or get poppy. Just no more floral pastural albums like VLV. (and i love VLV but please do a U2 and make yourself a rock beamoth as a follow up) I personally except a pop record, mainly because Kylie is in it.
  6. You and everyone else who followed their music.
  7. Too many people get caught up on evolution or experimental meaning electronica or more complex structures. Mainly because people use Radiohead to draw conclusions from Coldplay. VLV was not Kid A and its easy to see why, Coldplay's sadness has always been more wide screen, more personal and less creepy than Thom Yorke's ironic blend of horror that was thrown all over kid A in contrast VLV was an experimental album of sunny days grounded in world music and culture. So theres been comparisons to Revolver (simple worldly music) and the Unforgettable Fire. With that said where do Coldplay go from here. Theres a few avenues. LIT2, Glass of water show a new side to Coldplay, a rocking side. For their entire career Coldplay have never really rocked out noticably. Theres been exceptions, One I Love for example showed a side of Coldplay we could see more often. Radiohead never delivered a full on rock assault, but they have far more uptempo songs than Coldplay. If X&Y was taking inspiration from Muse it was basically the same sound as before with synths. VLV overall shows Coldplay can rock out, but prefer to use acoustics and piano rather than a dominate bass and electric, it would be intresting. More rhythm based... as in Rainy Day, Lost style sound scapes kinda going in the Kid A direction, but I was actually thinking more of the Gorrilaz. Chris loves his hip hop but JayZ brought nothing to Lost, still a more gorrilaz style front would be intresting. Since chris has a similar range and singing style to Damon Albarn. Your thoughts, on future directions for Coldplay?
  8. with respect id extend the deadline to cover christmas. I for one wont get to try out R.E.M, Keane or The Killers till then.
  9. his family have confirmed his status as 'presumed dead' The man loved his family and his band, he wouldn't just dissapear. I do think his death may have been accidental, he always said he never contemplated suicide.
  10. the real question is... can anyone do this song justice?
  11. He plays guitar like me! With his thumb Or do I play guitar like Chris Martin.
  12. Its rubbish, like everything you read in Tabloids these days.
  13. Yup, I dont remember any comparisons to Kid A. And Im sorry but VLV was a very tight, compact conceptial cd. One of my favorates ever, mainly because CP succeeded in bringing a different mood and colour with each song, so it all complimented itself. These songs from what i've heard are those that didn't fit on VLV for whatever reason. Glass of Water for example is too simple, rocky and unsweeping to be on VLV. To many people experimental by definition means electronic (sounds like Kid A) Coldplay were experimental in their efforts to bring so many different types of music, far eastern, Indian, choiral ectra... this is exactly how the Beatles branched out for revolver. Actually... lets go that far... VLV is Coldplay's Revolver, and unlike revolver it has no filler... Wow, on any forum but this one, I'd get flamed baaaaaaaaad for that.
  14. 95% of the people in this world are idiots.
  15. Manic Street Preachers, sound very much as Coldplay would if they were to rock harder than they do - If you tolerate this, then your children will be next in particular. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jm7ddqkgzFw]YouTube - manic street preachers--if you tolerate this[/ame] theres others, but thats propably the sound Coldplay aims for. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jmh4rsllMl0&feature=related]YouTube - Manic Street Preachers - You Stole The Sun From My Heart[/ame] And the absolute classic, Design for life. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFsneyMNLvw&feature=channel]YouTube - Manic Street Preachers - A Design For Life[/ame] Feeder, kinda went and did a Coldplay on their fans a couple of years ago, heres some of the songs from that period. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjgQLEZ6vjY]YouTube - Feeder - Feeling the Moment[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtuctFPHbhQ&feature=related]YouTube - Feeder Just the way i'm feeling the official video[/ame] And of course, R.E.M, U2, Travis, Snow Patrol, Keane, Starsailor... ectra.
  16. Don't agree with those i've seen to play yes so far on ultimate guitar. Does anyone has the correct chords or a good alternative for acoustic guitar?
  17. Won't happen... As someone once said... their in the Unforgettable fire growth spurt. Next up the Joshua Tree. Or go write a big mature rock album.
  18. I agree, a greatest hits would be more impacting after CP have been around a little longer. Blur were at 6 albums, U2 at about 10... its far too soon if they want to milk it.
  19. Canada and the US seem like much better countries that over here. With a bit of luck ill be going to one of them next year...
  20. It's been going on a few generations really. Basically poor kids with poor parents, its nothing new, it just feels it because this generation has grown up with Chavs. But before this there were other anti social groups. The problem is basically broken homes, council estates, bad parenting and all the common factors, on a very large scale. Other countries have similar problems, but not as widespread as in Britain...
  21. Why? I found it wore thin very quickly. The Lennon bit is a nice touch tho. But its just another Oasis ballad. Theres nothing that wrong with it, but its pretty much just another fine song on a fine album. For me Coldplay's Yes/Chinese Sleep Chant has to get there. Along with that R.E.M song Man Sized Wreath. Nothing else I think is all that brilliant after that, so I'd go with Fires by Feeder.
  22. So that trilogy of albums between adventures in hi fi and Accelerate. They worth checking out? Hi Fi was amazing. My top 3 have to be Life's rich pagent, Hi Fi and Automatic. I've heard Murmur, out of time and monster too.
