  1. I loved when Amy Whinehouse got on high as a kite, and Simon just took the complete piss. I also loved when he refered to a singer in the panal as 'a guy from one of those snow patrol bands' Oh and when he ripped the piss out of Noel Fielding (the twat) cornering him on how he doesn't make jokes but just unfunny random comments.
  2. I bet im gunna love their first two albums more than any of their others. Since Final Straw was a little bit brilliant..
  3. what? But In general I don't get it. If anything his policies and ideas are typically M.O.R not prepared to do much about anything yet fodder weve always had... He believes in global warming (well that makes a change) but he can't seem to make up his mind on gay marriage or gun control. He's still got that bullshit position on the M.E. America has had for generations and he still recognises Isreal (nobody recognises Isreal... its uncool to recognise Isreal) apperently hes not tough on defence (how hard can it be to beat a colour coded system of alerts???) Sure this guy is better than Bush for sure, but Bush had many a disaster to deal with that most presidents dont ever see one of in a term. Since Barak has been help up in the newspapers as the second coming of christ he seems to already just be nothing more than a less crazy version of the traditional American politician. Not being in America, not seeing everything from the inside I don't understand, for Americans things will get better, yes but for the rest of the world... settle down!!! governments never have much power these days. Especially with a senate that gets lots of hand outs. I'd love to see this man achieve something great in his term, I hope it happens, im even expecting it too, but logic tells me hes happy give or take with things as they are.
  4. It says denser to me, since otherwise the lyric is pretty terrible.
  5. I cant remember, wern't people this optomistic when George Bush took over? or Tony Blair??? fair enough ill give the guy a chance. But i reckon theres going to be a lot of assasination attempts. So many things have happened in the last 8 years maybe Obama has a clear run ahead of him. I don't think he'll be starting any wars. Hes absolved from any guilt if the economy gets worse. Its looking good... I guess. Even so life might get better for America, I don't care tbh, I want to see America signing energy bills, pouring money into Africa, using its standing point to make the world a better place. Its scary if he gets its wrong Sarah Palin is running for office in 2012... and her party got 48% of the vote. Its amazing how insanely out of touch middle America is with the rest of the known world. Thankfully California is the state that packs the most clout.
  6. Q have been pretty dum lately, And its denser... if you listen hard enough thats what he says. Dancer wouldn't make sense, the rest of the phrase suits it. Its DENSER! my flat mate was singing along to it tho, adding dancer...
  7. Monster is great... My fav song is Circus Envy, such a weird and wonderful rock song. Next up New Adventures in Hi Fi
  8. I really enjoyed it, its basically a very well made flawless revenge movie, but sometimes it needs to slow down the pace and explain whats going on. Other than that its a great film. Especially when the action scenes are so fast, you have no idea what is going on. And from the comment on the last page about how Dalton killed the francise, I think you'll find bond's hyatus was due to the cold war finally being over. Licence To Kill and The living daylights are among my favorates.
  9. Sounds very like Hot Fuzz the way the preview describes it.
  10. NME are about the image and the culture of music, more than the music. Its funny how much their fanbase tends to dissagree with them tho. I love how they've got adverts up for snow patrol, and the site layout is that of the new album, yet they gave it a 4/10.
  11. Call me unqualified, but im too busy exploring the 90's (as a period I didnt live though musically) to move down to the 80's just yet. But heres some ideas. New Years Day - U2 (I dont think the Joshua Tree is their best album, i dunno. War does more for me. Every song on war is brilliant, its too bad theres only 6 of them. I guess the Joshua Tree is the better album tho, just I prefer to listen to war. Anyhow... R.E.M were consistantly great though the 80's and Pink Floyd had a few moments of greatness, alongside a few momentary lapses of mediocrety (see what I did there) <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> A personal favorate of the 80's. Joy Division were another band in that decade. Ian Kurtis (the singer) moped his way though a lot of hits over 2 albums. Not sure what I make of the singing (or lack of) <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Im gunna omit the Smiths because I know nothing about them (but i will pick up something by them soon) Then the Stone Roses, hailed by some to be one of the best british bands ever, I dissagree, they only made 2 albums, and most bands have at least 2 great albums behind them. Great band tho, if you don't go and see them live. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBup1RXOSt8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBup1RXOSt8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> And this was the best of the singles they released in that decade. Made of Stone.
  12. Yeah, Rather Be imo is a rather poor choice... It just doesn't give enough guitar love.
  13. Is it as bland as NME says (I hate NME...) but I did think Eyes Open was just a bland album with some moments and a whole lot of bed wetting... Final Straw at least could be catagorised as an Indie Rock album. And a great one at that. But other than one or 2 singles that hit the spot I've found most of the stuff mediocre but very listenable. They've billed this as a departure, I really hope it is... Take back the city really didn't intrest me.
  14. Took me ages to appreciate A Northern Soul, I must say. I mean it is 70 minutes of mostly dense guitar work. I kinda love the whole thing now but it took ages. Brainstorm interlude is brilliant, as is a northern Soul itself. Kinda reminds me of Noise Epic. I dunno which one I like better. But I find Forth and ANS are pretty similar except Forth is more lyricy. But yeah, peace!
  15. Its hard to say, he pretty much just adds his own riff to the existing song. I couldn't play that line on guitar even if I wanted to, so I can't check for you. Its basically improvising, just looked for the piano chords for Bitter Sweet Sympany, it would sound better on its own.
  16. Pretty much plays the guitar line. Lead I think.
  17. Hmm right now Im not listening to my fav bands as much as other ones. Manic Street Preachers R.E.M Blur Oasis Travis
  18. Lots of Keane fans, and I think the bands really got talent but I find Tom Champlin way too choir boy... I mean whats more rock and roll that writing songs about nursery rhymes with a dark twist and having an addiction to anti depressants. Nothing about Keane is intresting, but they can pen and have penned many a pretty tune. May they continue to do so, but perhaps being well M.O.R as they evolve. The new album is on my christmas list... so ill let you know if I hate it. The other 2 are alright singles wise but I dont think they do albums, I think they write some singles and some crappy stuff.
  19. Actually... it reminds me of Zelda, when you chase those chicken things around with a sword then they turn around and CHASE you!
  20. Im glad, your glad, I like it. But curious? do you like A Northern Soul? I know loads of people who are verve fans who wouldn't even know they were a shoe gazer band and didn't even recognise their previous albums.
  21. Is it less illegal to post them outside the main sections of this forum?
  22. Whos arguing, Im simply calling you out for your blatent exaduration. If you've got an opinion, nice one, now back it up without excessive exaduration. I don't mean to nag, but this is one of my buttons (everyones got one thing that annoys them and shouldn't and this is mine) Filler by definition is to fill out an album. By all means say the album is crap, then say why, just don't say its entirely composed of filler! (you may have already went into detail on the Verve thread, if so I appologise) But comments like that are as annoying as the 'they sold out' cries when a band becomes popular.
  23. Not while they sell out stadiums and pull a crowd to a festival.
  24. Not a bad band but the lyrics are so repeative, must everything be compared to as a war?
