  1. ^That. I can't even say their name anymore :|
  2. maybe it's a sign from the band using the acronym to let us know about LP5 Every Tune Is A Wreck?!
  3. We got a poll from Briggins on the lyrics so now it's time to compare the two songs as a whole. So be sure to vote! :D
  4. yup :smug: I'm not going to waste my money when I can spend it on a better and more deserving song and band
  5. they are past their prime because they have their heads so far up their asses that they can't be salvaged i'm afraid.
  6. close enough... the use pre recorded vocal tracks live (for Viva La Vida), so it's the same thing. I'm negative on the band overall. The song has terrible lyrics, is too annoying, and is just a bad song. It tries to be catchy and an anthem song which it seems is all the band cares about. I feel the band themselves really care much more about trying to make a popular song that appeals to younger crowds rather than write and release quality songs. And if you ask how I can't say this is a quality song, just give a listen to songs from their earlier albums like Trouble or Spies or Amsterdam. If you can honestly tell me that the quality of music they are producing, writing and recording is better now then it was before I think it's sad. Coldplay are way past their prime. Their first two albums were great pieces of music that I will always visit. I still like songs from X&Y (I used to be obsessed with it) but I'm not into it nearly as much as I used to. After that I like just a few songs here and there, but not many.
  7. don't feed into the propaganda!
  8. There is something positive about ETIAW for me. I won't have to waste $.99 on the song.
  9. fucking sell outs with no dignity for themselves. They are so pathetic it's not even funny.
  10. I agree and disagree. I agree that I too thought they were going to go to a more acoustic sound. However I disagree in the sense that they are brave and daring. Just because they have a huge following and clearly do not seem to care about being innovative. Yeah they changed their sound, but that's not being innovative. The sound they went for on VLV and now this new song is something that appeals to a younger audience and it is filled with pop songs. This new song you can tell they're trying way to much to have a very popular song that everyone will love in exchange for wiping away all dignity the band has for themselves. They honestly should be ashamed because they have stooped down to such a low level just to achieve this fame. To be honest I wish the band would read mine as well as all the other people who are disappointed in them. If you want to be innovative and change your sound do it right and with some dignity. Radiohead released Kid A right after they had the super successful OK Computer. But to an average listener Kid A is difficult to make it through because they changed the sound an in that sense took a huge risk. Same goes with The Beatles. I'm not turning this into a Radiohead/Coldplay debate, but merely giving an example. Another good example would be how U2 reinvented themselves for Achtung Baby. The band started off strong but as the years have progressed have gone downhill.
  11. I agree. I actually change my vote to a 1 (with the redeeming bit being the bass at the end). I'm so disappointed in the direction this band has taken over the last few years that I don't see myself really being excited about their music anymore.
  12. The lyrics are simple and shit... I mean SO YOU CAN HURT, HURT ME BAD BUT STILL I'LL RAISE THE FLAG IT WAS A WA WA WA WA WA-ATERFALL A WA WA WA WA WA-ATERFALL MAYBE I'M IN THE BLACK, MAYBE I'M ON MY KNEES MAYBE I'M IN THE GAP BETWEEN THE TWO TRAPEZES BUT MY HEART IS BEATING AND MY PULSES START CATHEDRALS IN MY HEART Anyone can write those lyrics
  13. The song is utter shit. The only redeeming bit at all is when the bass comes in right at the end. So disappointed in this band, and I can see where they will loose more fans and gain more Beiber fans, because face it... the band cares more about writing songs to a younger audience then writing quality songs.
  14. Listening to it again, I'm so disappointed, sad and angry at this band. Nothing but a bunch of sell outs. The songs they are making now are not even close to how musical they were before. Yeah there may be more instruments in the songs, but doesn't make the songwriting any better. For this band "less is more" is something that always worked for them. It's just annoying to have a band that used to be so good just get so bad. Hearing Christmas Lights I was excited for the possibility of them going back to their roots, but this song has just destroyed all of those hopes and possibilities in my ears. I'll listen to LP5, but my expectations are even lower than my expectations for this new song which was already low enough.
  15. Brian Eno didn't need to do anything. The band did it to themselves.
  16. In terms of the song... meh. It's catchy to begin with with the melody but it's nothing special IMO. Definitely a change in sound for the band, though I don't think it's for the better. Someone before mentioned that less is more and I agree. This song is alright, but I find it to be too much of a dance song. Not saying that's bad though. The lyrics sort of work with the song, though they still sound bad. Overall not impressed, and I don't really know what the band is doing anymore.
  17. I will admit I'm interested and looking forward to the new song, though I'm not expecting much from it.
  18. I say legalize marijuana just because no one has ever died from it and considering how many people use it, if you taxed it it would bring in a lot of revenue. For other harder drugs as we've seen making them illegal hasn't helped. So perhaps decriminalize it. I still think drugs that are extremely deadly like Heroin, Crack and Meth should be made illegal just because of how harmful and addictive they are. But at the same time Alcohol is legal which is extremely deadly and addictive too, to many. So For those drugs I'm not sure. I don't know if legalizing them is the answer, yet clearly the war on drugs hasn't worked either.
  19. oh yeah that's fine... no biggie
  20. I actually really like Christmas Lights... I like the melody to the song and also the time change
  21. congrats guys! You both deserve it!
  22. oh come on... why so serious? I'm just having a bit of fun with their bad lyrics. And anyway if you haven't noticed I'm not criticizing the song itself because I haven't heard it. But I've been criticizing the lyrics, artwork, song title, and image of the band because that's what they're given us so it's all fair game. For all I know the song might be amazing, but from everything that has been shown to us which looks terrible in my opinion I'm not extremely optimistic. I'd much rather be critical of a band then just mindlessly dismiss everything they do as being amazing.
