  1. ^^ thanks for the support. but we lost the game before it even started. our managers decision to not play any genuine strikers (we've only brought across 1 to SA) and putting cahill in a strikers position. i dont know what he is trying to do.
  2. i just hope germany beat serbia and ghana just as badly. australia has beaten ghana convincingly the last 2 times we've played them. serbia will be tough to crack.
  3. in australia thats a free kick the other way for being a soft arse. can cahill appeal the decision? the bastard looked italian (refer to incident in 06 cup)
  4. ^^ you can add rugby league and netball to that list. we're much better at swimming too. *runs out to find more excuses for the disgraceful performance*
  5. Ok just over 4hrs to go. im getting some sleep so i dont pass out half way through the match. bring it on Deutschland
  6. no my madness hasnt quite reached those levels lol
  7. you're all writing off the aussies!! just wait we'll show you all!
  8. my biggest pet hate is when i hear "check out coldplay playing viva la vida from their album viva la vida on their viva la vida world tour"
  9. My Predictions Algeria 1-2 Slovenia (would not have a clue about either team) Serbia 1- 0 Ghana Germany 1 - 1 Australia (being optimistic here)
  10. i really should be studying instead of doing this but oh well. bjaiken: the lack of scoring in football is its beauty. it gives a goal significance and importance. i love watching basketball (actually i love basically every sport lol) but whats the significance of a goal in that? almost nothing. one team scores the other just scores in return. thats repeated 60 times. with football you dont know when a goal is coming and when you do get a goal you dont know if that goal will win you the game. you are constantly on the edge of your seat because until one team goes ahead for 3 or 4 goals the game is constantly in the balance. another thing. in sports like basketball its piss easy to score a goal, in most cases is requires a low degree of teamwork and skill and the ball is into the hoop. in football it takes great skill and tactical awareness and creativity to get that ball in the back of the net (unless Green is the goalie lol) which is why its so much more admirable when a team does score or gets very close to doing so. but i dont see football ever making it big in america until they divide the game into 10 periods and chuck in 15min ad breaks in between each period as well as "timeouts"
  11. smells like a september-ish octobery release but the earlier the better!
  12. yeah i guess from a marketing point of view it is the safest way to go. but i just find it annoying when im talking about a s/t album, you cant just say the name of album it always has to be "their self titled debut" mind you i dont like title tracks either. so i think its just me.
  13. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2C1BZks8Sm0]YouTube- The National Terrible Love Bonnaroo 2010[/ame]
  14. My predictions: South Korea 1 - 0 Greece Argentina 3 - 1 Nigeria England 2 -1 USA
  15. Flaming Lips are moments away from starting their performance of Dark Side of the Moon at Bonnaroo. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=127088792 if you miss this you will regret it!
  16. ^^ yeah that is true on a non-the-national-note - the flaming lips are playing dark side of the moon at midnight Bonnaroo time. i can see the national fans enjoying dark side of the moon.
  17. The National set in one word - Spellbinding (yes thats one word now) but they played a fairly short set by bonnaroo standards. most of the older bands at the festival are playing 2hr shows at least.
  18. ^^ you can try youtube for the video webcast. but i think its US only :(
  19. i cant believe people didnt enjoy the south africa mexico match! this isnt the fucking english premier league. football isnt about it raining goals all the time. both teams played great expansive attacking football, it might not of been the most skillful tactical game but i still loved watching it. if both teams had converted their easy opportunities it couldve been a 5 or 6 goal game easily.
  20. the national are live on stage at bonnaroo right now. listen live here http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=127088792
  21. wow i cant believe nobody knows the offside rule i will admit even i thought itwas a goal at first but the rule is. to be onside there needs to be 2 or more players in front of the attacking player. the best way to look at that situation is pretend that south african defender is the goalkeeper. see it? he was offside clearly. it was a great call.
  22. nervous start by SA
  23. damn you americans and europeans with your good time zones. for me SA mexico finishes at 2am then france uruguay starts at 4-30am :(
  24. Basement Birds will release their album in physical form on July 16, it will be self-titled. i know this is a stupid argument but you would think these incredibly talented people could come up with an album title without just going self titled. its just such a boring predictable thing to do.
