U2 CANCEL APPEARANCE AT GLASTO - REPLACED BY GORILLAZ
ok this is my thread so im going to bring an end to this. and there is a right and wrong answer. it just needs to be expressed properly. so im going to put my law school skills to the test here and see how i go. so whats your problem: half of us think that coldplay is the biggest band in the world and the other half of us think that theyre not most of the latter half think U2 is the biggest so how do we work out who is the biggest: is it the band who has sold more tickets in recent times? the band who has sold the most number of albums in recent times? a combination of the two? or is it the band that seems to dictate the most attention (google trends can solve that for us) so first we need to work out which criteria we should use to work out who is bigger. there seems to be a big emphasis on "now" who is bigger "now"? so i think we should stick to how the bands have done in the past 24 months (this makes it fair for both bands) can we agree that we look at their album sales, ticket sales and column inches? i seem to be the closest thing to an impartial judge on this so once we agree on a criteria i will take care of the number crunching.

^^ oh its nothing. i really enjoy doing it. now lets excited about the muse tour!! now im guessing that they will try and dodge the metallica tour which means they wont be playing sydney any time before november 15. the rumoured date was november 22 which seems reasonable as the crusty demons are at acer on the 27th.

DID Presents: The Battle of the Album – The Decades - 1960s
we're not talking about the beatles here are we..........:stunned: how can people not like at least something about them! like soft rock listen to rubber soul. like guitar rock listen to revolver. like weird as experimental shit listen to sgt peppers. want genuinely brilliant songwriting that makes chris martin sound like an illiterate fool listen to the white album. like a bit of avant garde interspersed with sensible pop listen to abbey road. they're not my favourite band but there is no doubting they made music what it is today. could people do me a favour? when you're listing your faves from the 60s could you please put next to it the year in which it was released. i have a weird fascination with the period of music between 1965 and 1970 and i want to hear more music from it.

listened to both Demon Days and Plastic Beach last night. took me back to 2005 when i first heard Feel Good Inc, at the time it was near the top of the charts down here in aus and i just didnt get what people saw in this song. the vocals were weird and the music sounded quite stupid. but since it was a hit it was all over the radio so i heard it over and over again and i think it was after a good 30 or 40 listens that it finally clicked for me and i loved it. then Dare came out and became an instant personal fave as did Dirty Harry. now 5yrs later ive had the same experience with Plastic Beach, it took me a few listens to get used to the hip hop vibe but now i've grown to love it.

DID Presents: The Battle of the Album – The Decades - 1960s
i really havent heard enough music from the 60s to make a decent list. it really stops for me after the beatles, the stones, the who, hendrix, dylan, cream and the doors.

Arcade Fire
According to Australian radio station Triple J, the song will see a proper release "around 1 June", with the end of July as a "tentative [album] release date".Triple J claims that Nick Launay, who mixed Neon Bible, is producing, while engineer Markus Dravs and arranger/violinist Owen Pallett have both confirmed their involvement. More tantalisingly, the radio station claims Arcade Fire recorded and mixed about 38 songs for the record – raising the prospect of a double-album.
