  1. well 2yrs after their awesome sophomore effort the Horrors are back with a new album. It will be calling Skying and will be released July 26. Here is the first release from it, Still Life. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-WyPwhiNDY&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - ‪The Horrors - Still Life‬‏[/ame]
  2. while on the topic of live music. could someone please explain to me why well known musicians do DJ sets at festivals and charity events and the like. i don't see the appeal in watching someone play their favourite songs no matter how much i like them. they're musicians for crying out loud! their job is to perform music. leave the button pushing to the talentless lads (and ladettes) in over sized headphones.
  3. THIS!! but sooooo very few bands do it. like if they do 20 songs in a night, they might change around 4 or 5 but the rest will always be the same. its ok when they have 2 or 3 albums only. but when u go to see a band with 5 or more albums u really should expect the unexpected. everyone should be like pearl jam!
  4. when i saw Laura Marling she said this near the end of her set "if you want an encore then this is my last song if you don't want one then this the second last song" [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWTeQYU9Bh8]YouTube - ‪Laura Marling - talking about the encore | Live at Flèche dOr, Paris‬‏[/ame] i love her :embarrassed:
  5. hate to say it but i do think it has something to do your with your age. you mention 2004 to 2006, thats when you would've been in your early 20s. exactly where i am now. and i find myself being immensely proud of what this era of music has produced. but i am afraid that when i do get a little older that passion will be die and be replaced with a sense of resentment and a yearning to go back to the way things were when i was young. it may just be inevitable.
  6. of course it wouldn't be bad at all but what i'm trying to say is that it wouldn't be as great. it's like when a band reunites after a few years. even if they're pretty average they build up much more hype simply because people have been deprived of it for so long. i think emirates and stamford bridge might be a little different looking next season. like i mentioned before, i feel very bad for supporters of both clubs. i have great respect for both but there is something fundamentally wrong with them.
  7. its not a matter of selling it out. it's a matter of the hype and excitement surrounding it. the international attention it draws. average attendance was 75 100 and the capacity is 76 000. i don't think you can get it too much better than that.
  8. i guess we're back to the days of me talking to myself on this thread lol. anyways here is a great performance of Runaway from the weekend http://vimeo.com/24177763
  9. there's a thing called the theory of diminishing returns (or marginal utility). the more you get of something the less you appreciate it. the first season of this super league would be awesome and everyone would love it then as the years roll on people will stop appreciating it as much and it will become just another league. there's a reason why competitions like champions league are as prestigious as they are. it gives the fans a chance to see a match up that might only happen once every few years. a match up between man utd and barca is much more mouth watering than man utd v chelsea will ever be. why? cos it only happens once in a blue moon whereas we're guaranteed at least two man utd chelsea matches every year. you start doing that with man utd barca and that will lose its integrity as well. same deal with the world cup. if we had that every summer i highly doubt it would have the hype and excitement that it generates every 4yrs.
  10. B and C are basically the same thing just shuffled around lol
  11. i can't help but feel that you've stopped looking for good music and instead you just want something weird and different.
  12. gotta admit i'm little worried about how all this drama might affect Giggs in the CL final. just googled the woman he apparently cheated with. not too bad!! :wink3:
  13. Darwin Deez released their debut in the US today, 6 months after its international release. They are from New York. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN!!!! same thing happened with KoL in their early days. i don't mean this in a racist way but what is wrong with you people!!
  14. i just can't imagine them having Kanye as the headliner of the first night. it would be such an anti climax. i hope regina headlines the GW stage the same night as Janes Addiction play. they're the one headliner i have no issues with missing. i have great respect for them as a band but nothing next to kanye and coldplay and it would just be nice to be away from the main stage for one night.
  15. Arsenal had Bergkamp as well. actually that whole team was bloody amazing!
  16. no way lol. i have 3 mega important essays due in that week and opera house is a 50min drive each way. and i know for a fact that i'm not the only one saying that. yeah i saw that article. a little bummed chris and kanye won't be mashing. but you never know, kanye might be feeling generous (lol jks) and stay back a day to join coldplay on stage. one of the comment said the headliners will be Janes Addiction, Kanye, Coldplay in that order. that sounds reasonable to me.
  17. no doubt about that. but i think they play much better as a team now rather than depending on one player.
  18. Ronaldo scored 4 against Hercules and Almeria (two bottom teams) while Messi scored 7 against them. both Messi goals in UCL were against 10 man Real. Ronaldo scored the winning goal in the Copa Del Rey against 11 man Barca. Barca have won every game this season that did not feature Messi. but nevertheless i agree that Ronaldo isn't as important for Real, simply because he is a true individual on the field. When he plays the rest of the team must play around him, when he doesn't play they play more naturally and as a team. This is clear from the way Man Utd has changed since his departure. thats your subjective opinion. if i wanted to i could say Ryan Shawcross is one of the all time greats and there's nothing you can do about that cos thats why personal opinion. but when you compare the hard facts, Ronaldo is very much comparable to Messi. not just for the goals but for what he has achieved across two leagues.
  19. amazing!! but terrible timing. a bulk of the people interested would be uni students and at the 4 major unis in sydney june is first semester exam period. i don't know many people who have their exams done before june 10. and that has been reflected in the poor sales of a lot of the events. i had a look at tickets for Bat For Lashes and i would say a quarter of the seats are still available. had they held this in late june or early july i can guarantee you these shows would've sold many many more tickets. i know for a fact i would've gone to cut copy, tame impala and bat for lashes.
  20. i really liked this article shame on Abramovich!!!
  21. against the top 6 in the la liga. ronaldo has scored 15 goals to messi's 6. against the rest ronaldo has scored 24 goals to messi's 24. i think i might have missed a goal or two somewhere but i think you get the point. messi has in support 6 players who were nominated for world player of the year (including the two other finalists) whereas ronaldo only has 3.
  22. i cannot believe we are even debating the quality of Ronaldo as a footballer. i'm not even going to bother entering this debate because the numbers speak for themselves. but i will say this. Ronaldo is one of the most complete footballers the world has ever seen. (yes i know i'm biased) re Crouch. he is a hard worker so i admire him for that. and it's always a surprise to see someone play well for england and i agree with everything said about hargreaves.
  23. ^^ good album brah:cool:
