  1. i think it's a nice song but hard to appreciate outside the context of the album.
  2. i only like live albums if the band has actually bothered to change things around and improvise, sadly very few big bands do that and if it's a full unedited show. too often if not always, a live cd is 10-12 songs from different shows and it just sounds incoherent and pointless. but with the prevalence of bootlegs these days live albums aren't as appealing as they once were.
  3. that doesnt quite make sense........:inquisitive:
  4. Whatever People Say... will always be my favourite work from them but Humbug is the one i'm most proud of them for making. they could've easily made a really mainstream sounding radio friendly album (a la kings of leon) but instead they took a risk and made an interesting albeit imperfect album.
  5. going to hit the next person who craps on about how Whatever People... is better than Humbug and this new stuff. really makes me :veryangry2: i'm referring to the discussion on youtube more than anything else.
  6. new song Calgary will premiere in 10hrs time. :D
  7. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cQh1ccqu8M]YouTube - Nickelback - How You Remind Me[/ame] not a great song but enjoyable compared to their usual tripe.
  8. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLJ_QVfT_wM&feature=related]YouTube - Echoes[/ame] This for so many reasons. if you are reading this post and have never listened to Pink Floyd i implore you to listen to this. each and every part of the song is so perfectly crafted. on the album it may run for close to 25 minutes but at no point does it become repetitive or predictable let alone boring. it goes through so many phases but never becomes incoherent or disjointed. truly something special.
  9. just watched that moment from the reunion performance at Live 8. *insert a way of describing how amazing it is cos i can't do it*
  10. i'm not really a wear-my-heart-on-my-sleeve type person. like i rarely even wear the shirts of my favourite sporting teams. i think it has a little to do with being self-conscious and wondering what people would think if i wear a radiohead shirt or oasis or whoever. but i do wear my Rolling Stones shirt very often, its a favourite of mine :)
  11. no i don't. i'm not really the band t-shirt wearing type.
  12. [fangirlmode] Nick is a dead ringer for Jack White! Jamie looks 16 again. Alex looks like he has a personal touring hair stylist these days. Matt seems to have been frozen in suspended animation for the last 6yrs lol. [/fangirlmode] found this awesome AM blog. http://fuckyeaharcticmonkeys.tumblr.com/ it has really great coverage of their tour with recordings in both audio and video. links galore.
  13. i partially agree with you here. but i think to be iconic you need to release a string of major hit singles and/or albums over a period of time. i can see someone like Beyonce being popular with several generations to come because she's had so many big hits over a long period of time. more so than Bruno Mars unless of course he maintains his popularity over the next decade.
  14. rather ironic coming from a radiohead fan :P
  15. or maybe they just have decent taste in music..............
  16. there are plenty of reason but you probably don't want to hear them. RH have been just as dominant in the 00s as they were in the 90s. Kid A + In Rainbows v The Bends + OK Computer. pretty close battle if you ask me.
  17. last night at Big Weekend. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJvWAcph4AM]YouTube - Arctic Monkeys - The View From The Afternoon & Brianstorm (Live at BBC Big Weekend) surprise set[/ame] the entire set will be uploaded on that channel. including the following The hellcat spangled Shalalala When the sun goes down Don't sit down cause I've moved your chair Teddy picker Crying lightning I bet that you look good on the dancefloor
  18. the number 19 :)
  19. bring on the north west derby next season!! shall be epic :D
  20. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rF8khJ7P4Wg]YouTube - 2. Paranoid Android[/ame] from 3:35 to 5:35. greatest 2 minutes of music ever. live music? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jq6M4PWKvq4]YouTube - WAKE UP - THE ARCADE FIRE - GLASTONBURY 2007[/ame] the first minute. if that doesn't give you goosebumps. you are dead.
  21. and they've completely alienated and lost a massive part of their fan base in their last two albums. it is rather sad that people consider 'hipster' as a genuine genre of music.
  22. well if you want you can now listen to 6 different songs from the album (thats about half the album). the 4 they played on Jools, Brick by Brick and Piledriver Waltz from the Submarine EP. so far i love everything except Brick by Brick. Brick by Brick is not a single. it was simply intended as being a teaser or a sort of hey-we're-back release.
  23. i thought the man utd blackburn game was a very evenly contested match. a draw seemed fitting. looks like both major english trophies are going to manchester.
  24. the band just made a surprise appearance at Radio 1's Big Weekend. was this broadcast on radio and/or tv? would love to hear it. Setlist 'The View From The Afternoon' 'Brianstorm' 'This House Is A Circus' 'Still Take You Home' 'Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair' 'Teddy Picker' 'Crying Lightning' 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' 'Cornerstone' 'The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala' 'Fluorescent Adolescent' 'When The Sun Goes Down'
