hey i said from the start kanye + coldplay would be a bad idea. so there! :P the birds of tokyo performance just felt so unnecessarily dramatic. they're meant to be a gritty rock act instead they come across as tame pop stars. and wow they were all over the place during that recording.

thanks for the sentiments guys. you were right this place would die without me :P just listening to tonights LATW and its birds of tokyo from their one night stand series and this has got to be one of the worst LATW's i have ever heard. such a huge fall from their last latw recorded at the fly by nightclub in perth couple of years back.

Uefa Champions League/Europa League Thread 2010-2011
if i was going i think i would've said "i'm going to wembley" and i'm not sure what your second comment was meant to say. but if it's what i think. then i would say the epl wouldn't be half the competition it is today if it wasnt for the passion of its international supporters.

ah thats right you're the guy with the inexplicable hatred of using the word "we" when talking about supporting a football club.

Uefa Champions League/Europa League Thread 2010-2011
3 things. Fun Fact 1 : since the last time the two teams met. Barca FC has spent approx 150 million euros on players (samuel eto'o trade not included) Man utd has spent a little over 30 million in the same period. Fun Fact 2 : WE'RE GOING TO WEMBLEY :D Not so Fun Fact 1 : the logical conclusion to this final would be a 3-0 or 4-0 win to barca. anyone who knows the least bit about football looking down the two team lists could tell you that. but they're playing manchester fucking united!! so lets see what happens :)

We're Boned (AKA the 2011 Canadian elections)
i just wish people would take a more level headed approach to political issues. i can't say too much about canada but i know in aus the policies our govt come up policies that are in no way life and death matters for anyone but the media paint it like its the end of the world. and naturally the rest of us act accordingly. there's a lot i dont agree with in this country but i've spent a lot of time in 3rd world countries. i know how lucky i am. wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Osama Bin Laden Is Dead
in the eyes of his supporters Bin Laden is now greater than ever. he is a martyr. you can't top that.

We're Boned (AKA the 2011 Canadian elections)
always feel a bit sick when i hear/see people complaining about living in a developed country. it's sad that people don't know how good they have it.

Latest: Spotify Ditches Its 5 Play Limit For Spotify Free Users In The UK
Apple would only be hurting themselves by doing so. people will always find their way around those sorts of hurdles, fortunately thats just the way the internet is. did anyone read Robin Pecknold's recent comment about file sharing and illegal downloading? i thought he was completely right. very refreshing to see a prominent artist speak out about the issue and be honest.

The John Frusciante appreciation thread
he is a selfish (albeit brilliant) musician, always has been always will be. his time with RHCP was tainted with him trying to control the creative direction of the band something that should've rest on the more unique talents of Flea. unless he produces something brilliant soon John will probably now go down in music history as a nobody (which is what he wants) and RHCP will turn into one of those 80s bands you look at and think "ewww people used to dress like that?" sad but true.

Fleet Foxes
oh you know how records come in cardboard like holders. well the digipaks resemble them sort of. agreed. NME reviewer completely missed the point of the direction the band is taking. they didn't rate the debut very well either. they're just about the only publication to pan the album, dozens of critics have praised it and i agree with them. it is a truly brilliant album. well worth the wait!

this is tough for me to write but i think i might regardless things in my life have changed rather suddenly in the last couple of days and it has taken a heavy toll on me and my family. the unexpected nature of what has happened (i wish to keep the details to myself) has made it more difficult to handle. as a result i've decided to make some changes in my life one of them was going to be leaving this forum. but i thought about it for a while and it felt like an over reaction so i've decided to stay. but i have made up my mind on not going to see The Drums next week and not trying for tickets for splendour on thursday. at this stage being with my family and friends is more important. i think i like this place a bit too much to leave so suddenly. i think i like music too much to leave. but those other changes were tough to make but i know they're the right thing to do. i won't be talking on here much in the next few days as i go through the grieving process but i will be reading. so behave yourselves!

Fleet Foxes
the place i get all my cds love putting stickers all over them and almost invariably i ended up cracking the case in the process of taking off the stickers. whereas with the digipaks it is so much easier to take off the stickers. also digipaks have a more of a old vinyl cover feel to them.

Fleet Foxes
well i have my hands on the album and it is really really nice. thankfully it comes in a digipak as opposed to those outdated jewel cases. the cover art as you all know is stunning and you also a get a poster size sketch of something that looks pretty opposite and on the other side of it has a long list of people they want to thank. then cd itself comes in its own jet black cover which is a nice touch. then centre fold of the digipak has all the lyrics in a handwritten type font. but the back of it is pretty lame. just a pic of each of them and plain listing of the songs. the cd image is pretty boring too. the album itself? gets better with each listen! the band has done a great job of creating these wonderful landscapes with a much broader sound than their debut. the melodies aren't as prominent but they've done very well with the dynamics, something a lot of folk acts struggle with. and i seriously thought the harmony work on the debut would be impossible to top but i think it is even better on this album they just sound so much rich and coherent. i think they couldve made chopped off about 10mins from the album, personally i don't folk music works well over longer periods of time. at this point it is a solid 8.5/10 but who knows what might change over the year.
