every time i hear someone make a comment like that it feels like such a back handed compliment. just like when they said death magnetic was metallica's best since black album or when they said all that you can't was U2's best since achtung baby. basically a nice way of saying everything you've done lately is totally shit and this new stuff is just better than that and you're old stuff will never be matched. i know thats not what most people intend when they say that, but it just comes across that way.

coldplay? i seriously don't think so mate. why would a band capable of selling over 60 000 tickets in sydney want to play at a 30 000 capacity indie music festival? i think it would be detrimental for the organisers to throw that much money at a band like coldplay. i know fuji rock is often a good indicator but their headliner never comes to splendour, last year it was muse, year before it was oasis. the same will happen with coldplay. you need to look a little further down the fuji rock lineup to get a better idea of who might be heading our way. thats where the arctic monkeys come in as a very likely co-headliner. wouldn't be surprised to see Incubus headlining one of the nights. beady eye seem very very likely from the summer sonic lineup. what ever happens this will be one helluva line up. but i'm upset that AF won't be headlining. it just seemed so perfect! so i went out and bought the Sparkadia album today. if you had told me just a few weeks ago that i would be going out and buying the new sparkadia the day it comes out i would've laughed at you. but i was so very impressed by what i heard off their website i had to go grab it asap. the album sounds better with every listen. the vocals are impeccable, the lyrics are moving and it is really hard to believe that it was all made by just one man. this is an album well worth getting excited about! there are bits of dappled cities there and a hint of leader cheetah too. i can really see this album going places in the UK, i can see that part of the world really relating to the sounds on the record.

on the surface a no fly zone resolution seems peaceful. but this to me feels like the beginning of an all out war. i simply can't imagine Gaddafi halting any air strikes on Benghazi just because the UN has told him not to. he will breach the resolution and an UN lead miltary operation will take place in libya whether we like it or not. and when will the foreign intervention end? when the rebels take over the entire country? will they leave as soon as benghazi has been regained? gadaffi has promised to fight to the last man and i'm pretty sure thats one promise we can hold him by. this will not be pretty :(

ok my stand outs so far this year PJ Harvey - Let England Shake Cut Copy - Zonoscope James Blake - S/T Elbow - Build a Rocket Boys Sparkadia - The Great Impression with the quality of releases so far this year i don't see the likes of radiohead and the strokes making my top 10 at the end of the year. im hoping to listen to lykke li sometime soon! i really love what i've heard so far from it.

you have no idea how many times i've heard bands say that and then not release an album for another 3 to 4yrs.

well i dont think they have microphones do they? they just stand behind their decks and mix. a bit like daft punk just without the suits. i think its really just the new generations of DJ's who shout stuff to crowd to get them going. the older DJ's depend on the quality of their music to get some atmosphere. EDIT: i would've been really jealous had you guys seen them at their sideshows. a 1hr festival set doesn't really do them justice. same with LCD whose festival sets feel very unsatisfying.

ahhhhh sooooo jealous you got to see chem bros. i have all their albums and i LOVE all their albums but freken uni got in the way :( this new sparkadia album gets better with every listen. the story behind it is quite inspiring too. with how all his band mates deserted him and how he did it basically all on his own.

reading & leeds never lets down. but it will hard for them to top their bill from 2009.

alright we've had another decent australian release this week. Sparkadia's second album The Great Impression is simply amazing. it is solid from beginning to end and wouldn't be surprised if this goes down as the best aussie album of the year.

it was much better than i expected. its quite coherent all the way through. Two Kinds of Happiness is my favourite track but there isn't really a bad track anywhere. a solid 7/10 in my opinion.

i can see why it would've been done intentionally. it is only 4 days before the official release so it was a perfect opportunity to drum up some extra hype around the album which has been getting mixed reviews in the build up. and everyone knows, a leak is the best thing that can happen for an album. if i wrote an album and nobody leaked it i would feel a little offended. lol

when did it leak? on the 14th or earlier? cos radio stations started streaming it sunday night (american time)

listened about half a dozen times now and i'm loving BaRB! not as good as SSK but still an excellent record! with CoT and AinB in their back catalogue they will now undoubtedly go down as one of the best bands to come out of manchester. and thats saying something!!

he is doing quite well here. its pretty much a holiday for him here lol. to be honest i don't follow A-league that much, it can hard to watch when you're used to the quality of the european game. but i have to disagree with your comment regards the sports potential in aus. rugby league, rugby union and australian rules football has a very firm stronghold down here and football can only do so much with a population of just over 20 million and an economy insignificant on the world stage. giving australia the world cup would've just pleased the 100 000 or so passionate football lovers that live here and spend their lives going to bed at 3am or getting up at 4-30am to watch their favourite teams play.

probably one of the most amazing comebacks in any final you'll ever see. easily the biggest moment in aussie football since qualifying for the world cup in 2005. brisbane won their semi final after being down 2-0 with 30 to go. they're now on a 28 match unbeaten streak! oh yeah the club goes into administration today lol
