  1. i think Employment was one of the records of the decade, it was simply hit after hit after hit. then Yours Truly was almost just as good and they became an incredible live band. then they released Never Miss A Beat which got me really excited for the 3rd album but that just ended being exactly like their first 2. there was little maturity or progression in their sound. they played it safe, a bit too safe and it flopped. wouldn't be surprised if they don't release anything until 2012.
  2. have the Ting Tings done anything since........whatever they did in 2009....
  3. you're entitled to your own opinion but i think you would find most people would argue that Graduation is his worst (or second worst) effort to date. it has some very very weak songs like Drunk Hot Girls, Barry Bonds, I Wonder and Good Life. of course i'm saying it is weak by Kanye standards as the album also has some of his better work. imo Kanye is yet to bomb out on any record. not bad for a hip hop producer, most struggle to create more than 2 decent albums.
  4. ^^ so will you only be going to one day? rock werchter is one of my favourite festivals every year, in terms of the line up they get. so if i had the chance i would try and go as many days as i could.
  5. so Janelle Monae out of good vibes?
  6. haha yeah. i was listening to it today and i found myself singing along to most of the songs.
  7. ok two months on. anyone sick of this album yet? i seem to love it more and more with every listen. it's still my no.3 for the year but i've reached the point where i can't differentiate between my top 3 in terms of their quality.
  8. my take on it Friday - good (5 bands i would love to see, 6 others interested in) saturday - good (love 6, 5 interested) sunday - fucking amazing (8 amazing acts there that would happily pay full price to see) i think on the first two days the headliners are so-so but the ace stuff is in the smaller print. but sunday is amazing top to bottom.
  9. yes but RADIOHEAD = MUSIC MUSIC = WORLD OF MUSIC but im glad this was put here. im sick of coldplay v radiohead v muse debates on WoM.
  10. Fed never looked like losing but Simon gave him a run for his money. does the international coverage of the Aus Open get to see the post match Jim Courier interviews? what do people think of them? i find them quite entertaining but its shame he sometimes needs to try so hard to get these professional players to show some personality. i miss the days of safin or back when djokovic had a sense of humour.
  11. they were always going to struggle to live up to Is This It?
  12. i agree and disagree. i think the two bands are comparable. they might not sound exactly like each other but they come from a similar genre. like U2 and coldplay. they sound nothing like each other but it is totally fair to compare them. but i agree with you in saying that fleet foxes are so much better than mumford&sons. but as a live act m&s are one of the best going around cos they sound much rockier on stage. and yeah radiohead were better in the 90s but they still continued to make good music in the 2000s. i think their career is very similar to U2 1980 to 2001. slow start (boy+october) then a few masterpieces (war + unforgettable fire + joshua tree) then something a little weird but amazing (achtung baby) then a slump (zooropa and pop) then another masterpiece (all that you cant). same with radiohead. slow start (pablo honey), masterpieces (the bends + ok computer), weird (kid a) slump (amnesiac +hail) then another masterpiece (in rainbows) sorry if that last para is impossibly hard to read.
  13. and why do you HAVE TO listen to every song and album before you say you don't like them. imo theres nothing wrong with having heard 5 or 6 songs and decided that a certain band just isnt for you. most of us dont have the time to listen to everything a band has done before making up our minds. nevertheless. my motto is if you don't like a band. shut up about it and move on. (there are exceptions)
  14. it was so funny watching him continue to give his speech even after the music had started and they were ready to go for an ad break haha.
  15. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBHRiKZY2fk]YouTube - The Trickster - Radiohead[/ame] listen to that. if you still think there are no similarities between matt and thom there is something very wrong with you. and whats so bad about matt sounding a bit like thom? doesnt make matt any less amazing (just for the record he is my least favourite member of Muse by a very long shot) i think radiohead are an amazing band but i'm never surprised when somebody doesn't like them. and liking them doesn't make your taste in music superior to others.
  16. having only followed english for the last decade i haven't exactly understood to the whole man utd-liverpool rivalry so i dont hate liverpool as most older man utd fans would. so i actually really enjoyed watching that champions league final and it is quite possibly the greatest game of football i have ever seen, maybe second after the 99 final :D i feel for stevie g too. he is one of the best players to ever come out of england and hasn't enjoyed the success he deserves.
  17. he was brilliant and the only reason i watched the Globes. without him it would've been your usual back patting hollywood wank fest. yes most of his jokes were a little below the belt but thats just his style and he does an awesome job with it. the only two jokes of the night i didn't think were appropriate was the one about the president of the foreign press and the tom cruise one. the rest were pure gold.
  18. Simon will be a good test for Federer tonight. Simon won the tournament in Sydney and is in great form.
  19. were you ever born when liverpool won their last championship? :laugh3: thanks to Man City 24mil for a half decent player is completely normal these days. although i would've liked to have seen him remain at Sunderland and get them into the Europa cup for next season, working with Gyan who would have to be one of the best players in the world right now. hope Sunderland can pick up a couple of good young players with this money.
  20. THIS. when i heard they were coming back to aus in march 2011 i was really hoping it would coincide with some new release. but there's nothing in sight at the moment.
  21. kind words from a Liverpool fan. if i was a liverpool fan i would've been much harsher than that to the man who has basically belittled liverpool's legendary history.
  22. big night tonight. Clijsters v Safina (who would've ever thought that as a first round match) and Hewitt v Nalbandian (him and his ex on the same night haha)
  23. still can't believe they're about to do a 3rd tour of aus on the back of Wolfgang!
  24. great to have a date now! getting excited now :D
  25. soooo very glad that Tame Impala got no.15 in the cping countdown. never ever thought Tame Impala would enjoy success like this so early in their careers but it just goes to prove the old adage, good music sells! (well so does shit music)
