a story i found online. not sure how true it is. but it sounds sensible. Bono Vox was a corruption of Bonavox, a brand of hearing aid, and also the name of a shop in Dubling that the gang regularly passed. Hewson sang so loudly that his mates said he'd drive the all deaf, hence the nickname. Bono wasn't really chuffed with it, but changed his mind when he found out that translated to Latin Bono Vox means "Good voice".

the way man city are going i wouldnt be surprised if he gets a multimillion pound offer from man city very soon. of course they will forget about him after a few months.

listening to Cog tonight :D brilliant band who deserve far more success than they have enjoyed in the 10 yrs theyve been a band.

^^ sorry buddy just not a fan of the negativity. when the album first came out there was persistent hating of the album which didnt sit well with me. i just think that if you dont like something, just say it and move on (exceptions made for justin bieber, nickelback and keisha) anyways enough of me being pissed off at nothing. i dont use amazon much. but are they doing these deals on a lot of albums?

you do realise that nobody gives a fuck about how much you hate the new arcade fire album or any other album. so could you shut up already cos im getting sick of it and im sure im not alone on that.

good to see that their true fans love this album. personally i think it's a very good effort from the band. each song stands up very well in its own way but i cant help but feel that as a whole the album falls short. on their first 3 albums ( i love all 3, not sure why theres so much hate on OLTA) the band created some great indie post rock but also managed to create a lot of "moments" on their albums, moments which really made you sit up while listening. unfortunately on this album those moments are few and far between. Lights and Barricades are stunning tracks and Summer Well is most certainly underrated. But then you have songs like Safe Without which are truly brilliant but just go for a minute too long and my mind begins to wonder and even though the band may have made that mistake on previous albums, other songs revived it. that just doesnt happen here. nevertheless interpol are a group of supremely talented musicians, and people with such immense talent will always deliver great music. this album is most certainly one of the better albums of the year but unlike their earlier efforts it isnt one of the best of the year.

i was thinking we would put together a shortlist once everyones exams and stuff is over or they dont have as much pressure from work or whatever. for me personally that would be late november. after that we can discuss things for a couple of weeks then hopefully reach an unanimous decision.

their too cool for school approach. they can also be inexplicably cruel towards some acts and worship others. but i admire how comprehensive they are and their reviewers are very good writers. above all i love the attention they give to aussie music.

cricket is in big trouble. the entire integrity of the game is hanging in the balance and drastic changes arent made very very soon, the game will go down the drain just as it was making a revival with the popularity of T20.

im not saying that the fixtures were manufactured. im just saying that their performance so far this season isnt as amazing and brilliant as the media is making it out to be. man city away and arsenal in back to back weeks should be a good test for them. if they win both games convincingly then i will be impressed.

are there rumours for a new album? theyre touring australia in february 2011 and i wouldve thought they would be here in support of a new album.

do any of the aussies here use pitchfork.com?? i know theyre much hated by many people. but theyre such great supporters of australian music. theyve reviewed pretty much every great aussie album of this year, given most a very good score (awesome ratings to tame impala and grinderman) and theyre really throwing their weight behind the middle east. Filter magazine isnt far behind they have 3 or 4 aussie albums in each of their seasonal releases. its nice to know that aussie music is still relevant on the international scene.
