  1. yeah im guessing he's either at the shangri la or four seasons as they are the two hotels with a good view of the opera house. might go say hi to him in the morning.
  2. venue predictions? im thinking hordern pavillion size, so capacity of over 5000. their new album hasnt quite made the impact many wouldve expected so they wont be making a massive step up from their previous visit in 2008.
  3. i would have to say Phoenix. they just sound incredible live and real crowd pleasers. The Killers in sams-town-era was amazing.
  4. OK Computer The Joshua Tree The Wall Revolver Is This It? Led Zeppelin 1 they're the first ones that come to mind when i think perfection.
  5. in my opinion its one of those real slow burning albums. doesnt leave an instant impact but is a very rewarding listen once u invest some time into it. i would be the first to admit that it is their weakest effort but when you're first 2 albums are called Funeral and Neon Bible the bar is set pretty damn high. in terms of how well it encapsulates its theme of the suburbs, it is an incredible effort but the theme itself is rather bleak and unimpressive and that really does have a negative impact on the album as a whole. i still think it is an amazing album by an amazing band.
  6. he is in sydney tonight. showcasing his film.
  7. chem bros were certainties to headline future music when they announced their own tour a couple of months ago. mark ronson said he has booked dates here for march, i would imagine that could entail future music but stranger things have happened. yeah i cant wait for laneway. i think since they're covering 3 countries they might get a big act. but who could it be? i seriously have no idea.
  8. they only give vettel's car wings. http://www.smh.com.au/sport/motorsport/red-bull--webber-v-vettel-sees-war-of-the-mechanics-20100712-106jg.html
  9. it was pretty nice for most of the day, a little windy but still pleasant. but it just started raining now. im actually more excited about 20/10/2010. just prefer to look of it haha.
  10. well its up to the other teams to keep up with red bull.
  11. good result for webber. he now has a decent lead in the championship of 14 points so if he can win at least one of the 3 remaining races i think he would have it wrapped up. but thats easier said than done.
  12. its refreshing to see that there are so many people still buy cd's and appreciate their worth. but i wouldnt say this forum is a true microcosm of all music fans. a great bulk of the people i know find it rather humourous that i still buy cd's regularly whereas they just download it for free. nevertheless the heavily touted death of the cd is in my opinion no where in sight, if the industry handles things properly digital and physical music can co-exist. i have a love/hate relationship with the current state of live music. i absolutely love it how bands do such massive tours, visiting places most bands wouldnt have 20yrs ago. artists are also putting way more effort into their stage shows which really has the ability to make an average act look really good. but i hate it how quickly shows sell out these days!!! really kills me.
  13. no. not at all. new releases are $20 and i usually pick albums out of the bargain bin and they usually range from $9 to $13. but for some reason in ghost colours has been hiked up. i might eventually give in one day soon and buy it for that much.
  14. im ashamed to say i still dont have a copy of in ghost colours. i cant seem to find it for less than $30 anywhere. but im glad u like them. their new album should be out in the first 2 months of 2011.
  15. ^^ special appearance at Pyramid Rock :P during NERD's set haha
  16. ^^ yeah i ended up leaving out the ones im seeing soon. surprised u havent seen Phoenix theyve only been to australia 10 times in the past year.
  17. wow!! glad u enjoyed yourself. i might try and see them again when they return to sydney in january.
  18. lupe, kanye, pharrell. what a fucking trio! the 3 best minds in the hip hop world.
  19. this list is in order how badly i want to see them. but the order is ever changing 1. radiohead 2. arcade fire 3. sigur ros. 4. the white stripes 5. arctic monkeys 6. the strokes 7. metallica 8. fleet foxes 9. kanye west 10. yeah yeah yeahs im sure ive forgotten countless bands.
  20. boy this years going to be a tough choice!! at the moment its a 3 way battle for no.1. LCD v Foals v National.
  21. i made an exception for laura marling earlier this year when i went alone. my parents found it a little odd too but the thing is even when i do go with mates to a gig i usually get separated from them in the pit. for me a concert is very much a personal experience, between me and the band. but it is nice to talk about it with friends afterwards. aside from watching my beloved man utd play (from the other side of the world unfortunately) going to concerts is my favourite thing to do. it's where most of my pay goes and its well worth it. like today i spent over $200 on clothes and couldnt help but wonder how many great shows i couldve seen for that much money.
  22. didnt splurge as much as i planned but made some decent acquisitions Jeff Buckley - Grace Linkin Park - Meteora The National - Boxer U2- October will pick up these two tomorrow Pearl Jam - Lost Dogs Foals - Total Life Forever. long live buying physical albums!! f#)@ paying for mp3s :D
  23. i have the same issue. my gig list is dictated by what my friends enjoy. but ive developed a knack for convincing friends to go with me to see bands they barely know. it was particularly fun talking mates into going to U2 360 with me. "the stage is 150 feet high dude!!" "they'll be 95 000 people at the show!" etc etc :D i convinced 4 people :laugh3:
