i dont see whats wrong with industry types jumping on forums and blogs and flogging their bands. but i think they would be wasting their time doing that. their money would be much better spent on getting exposure through tv, radio, facebook, youtube and the big music mags which reach much bigger numbers than somewhere like CPing or your regular blogs.

depends on which "industry" we're talking about here. the music industry isnt just made up of record labels, in this day & age the kings of the music world are concert promoters and the online music giants like itunes. personally at this time i dont think whats good for record labels is necessarily good for the music industry as a whole. if $4 digital albums means the end of record labels as we know it then so be it, music will live on even thrive in some ways. personally i dont ever see myself pay for digital music regardless of how cheap the prices become but i know i represent a very very small minority of modern music fans with that mentality. by the way thanks for the article briggins it made for some very interesting reading during my boring accounting lecture lol.

^^ just found out that Field Day is $142 so that plan has gone out the window. going by the rumours at the moment, im going to have a tough time getting a good group together for BDO, im really hoping john butler trio is the headline aussie act rather than silverchair or even bliss n eso. i guess we'll have to just wait and see.

the club world cup is played in japan in december sometime right? which is right in the middle of the european season where most of the better teams are playing in their own domestic league, a domestic cup and just finished the group stage of the champs league. on the other hand im pretty sure the south american equivalent of the champs league isnt played during that time of the year allowing the south american representative to focus much more heavily on the tournament than their european opposition. either way i would say that the winner of the champs league does determine the best team in the world simply because i dont see any of the south american clubs winning (or even coming close to winning) the english or spanish leagues and to a lesser extent the german and italian leagues. but we're talking about two very different brands of football so it is sometimes hard to judge.

^^ now now alex u cant go changing it after a few big names have been all but confirmed lol. with soundgarden and kings of leon headlining, two bands i have a lot of respect for but not exactly fans of im really thinking twice about buying tickets this time around. theyre saying stone temple pilots will be second last on the orange stage which would make arcade fire 4th last at best and no way is a band of that stature going to settle for that. especially considering theyre about to go headline Reading n Leeds. and putting arcade fire on a smaller stage would be a massive security risk especially in sydney where the smaller stages have a capacity thats about a third of what the main arena can hold. personally i want AF to screw the festivals and just do a huge tour on their own.

if ticket prices are decent for field day i might actually go to it. it seems pretty decent. does anybody else find it weird how some acts are announcing a 2nd aus tour before they even complete their first. for example slash started his australian tour this past week but week before he was announced to return in february for soundwave. same deal with klaxons who are here in september and were just announced for falls and field day. im not ungrateful i just find it a bit odd and somewhat annoying as there are some bands *cough*radiohead*cough* who we've been waiting years and years to see.

how has that got anything to do with what i said haha. what do you not wish on them? i was just saying how debt despite its negative connotations isnt entirely bad, its a part of big business. i could of been talking about any of the big clubs (except chelski who thanks to their russian owner have very little debt at the moment) and what makes you so sure that i have never been to manchester? i dont want to drag this on im just a little confused at what you're getting at.

Power is a very very good song. this on the other hand doesnt sound as good. i just dont think beyonce's voice sound works well with kanye's production qualities. as awesome as i think beyonce is, her voice really only works with very simple straight forward rnb beats whereas kanye likes to create more heavily layered tracks. this sounds like a mid-album filler song.

yeah falls fest doesnt seem worth the journey down south. would be much better of staying home and catching 2 or 3 sideshows namely interpol the national and klaxons. im starting to agree with you alex, i think KoL are almost shoe ins for BDO 2011. but it would seem odd for AF to play second fiddle once more, they played second last in 2008 (after Bjork canceled) and i would like to think they've come a long way since then.

yeah i would love to. i was thinking we would do it Mercury Prize, Aus Music Prize style where the 7 or 8 of us who are the biggest contributors to this thread sit down and discuss a shortlist of albums and over a few sessions we try and reach an unanimous decision on one album as the aus album of the year. i just think that if we were to vote separately and then calculate it we wont get the best result because theres only a handful of us. what do you guys think?
