  1. Imke: The main point I saw was that Coldplay are going mainstream and that´s why MX sucks. I disagree about them going mainstream: I think they are just realizing their vision and expressing their music as they want it to be now. Tomorrow..who knows! Moreover you can´t blame some people for thinking MX "haters" want the old Coldplay back as this point as well has been stated more than once on the forum
  2. Coldplay mood might have been dark, melancholy and sad but they always had a bit of happiness hidden in there (see Yellow), which I think has been showing more and more. With VLV they attempted a revolution, tentatively but with conviction. With MX, they are completely out of their shell
  3. Ronnie: Thanks :) Where are you from?
  4. I hope they never get influenced by fans opinions. And you´re right: I highly doubt they will read any of this anyway :)
  5. The piano is not ruined in my opinion. IT´s there and I hear it quite clearly :)
  6. haha yes Mixer fits the theme of the album well ;)
  7. I would say: listen to POC studio version and then judge.
  8. No you are right. I don´t blame the fans, but some fans seem to blame Coldplay (and often their spouses and other Coldplay fans for actually liking MX). The guys have taken up a direction: if you don´t like it, you have the right to say so and why, but that´s about it. There should be no blame put on anyone.
  9. Cuz Paradise is not a stand-alone single. It´s only part of MX.
  10. I guess I am posting from a mental institution according to you...but you summed it up in the first sentences. You could have never predicted they would end up like this, because they are great in changing in each album. You can like the change or not but this is who they are. No reason to get pissed off though: sit this one out, maybe you will like LP6. One thing is sure: no one can ever predict what that will sound like...and personally I am thankful for that
  11. Yes took me a while to like Every Tear too. For some reason I could not really hear the beat (well now I can after trying expensive earphones hehe), so it did not catch me until several listenings later. So absolutely give Paradise a chance even if you immediately dislike it. I have a feeling MX will be my favorite album, but also because it´s so close to my heart at this particular time in my life. Those are the albums that really stay with you: those that mean something and help you through rough times and assist you in celebrating great times
  12. Even if it´s Chris idea, it needs Will´s seal of approval and they democratically choose songs, so the others must be agreeing to it for it to be on the album
  13. Maybe they just like to sing OOOH OOOH together as a band. Maybe they just like that sound. They might actually just incorporate it because they like it. I know, crazy right?
  14. The old Coldplay is no better than the new or recent Coldplay. I have been a fan since Parachutes, but I definitely do not think old Coldplay fans have any superior knowledge or claim on the band. If anything, it´s the new that counts more: it´s definitely what Coldplay are excited about right now.
  15. Jedi Leo replied to Jedi Leo's topic in Paradise
I do see your point. I think the stuttering is a stylistic choice for this album (and let´s face it: Chris has been wanting to rap-stutter for a LONG time hehe). I can see how the OOH OOH can be ubiquitous, but after all so was Chris falsetto pre-Viva and no-one really complained back then (well a few critics hehe). I love violins so I can never get too many of those :)
  16. I got Para Para stuck in my head hehe What are some of your favorite parts in the song? I´ll list mine -Davide´s violin! - Opening after bass kicks in: divine! - The cool beat - Para para actually...shoot me but I like it hehe - Is it just me or are the OOOH OOOH louder than ever? Still makes me sing alone every time - Jonny´s short but wonderful riff! - Lyrics The sun will set to rise. So simple: in one sentence so much hope in the dark...
  17. I believe some people might leave this forum for good. MX got really the community divided, which I guess it´s a sign that it WAS a bold move on Coldplay´s part. As Chris said in the interview, they knew this was going to happen. I also think some critics will pan Paradise and maybe even MX. I hope it´s gonna be critically successful, but they are taking a big gamble on this one. I will always be a proud MXer though :)
  18. Definitely top ten. I would be surprised if not
  19. ^ Agree completely
  20. The amount of criticism on MX era / Paradise is really above average. (Some people saying Coldplay R.I.P). This is so much more than not liking a song. It´s personal to a lot of people posting on the forum: apparently they are all disappointed about the new direction and that´s it, not so much about not liking a certain song, just not liking the whole package.
  21. Love all the new posters speaking up for MX. Haha so cool :)
  22. Special goodies always get ya... Seriously, no one else worried about not receiving it by Christmas? :O I might actually be only paranoid then. Your silence has spoken
  23. I think it´s definitely evolution as we saw this coming a few years ago...just the natural course they wanted to take with their music. And people not disliking change but disliking what they change into: this is a risk you take when you like a band that loves changing, so why blame THEM for it? Rather admit you don´t like the change and move on. And no effort put into Paradise? Long-time coldplay fans know more than anyone else how hard these guys work, how much they tinker and how selective they are. To say no effort was put in what they chose as their leading single is quite unfair. You might not like the song, but I am sure they worked hard on it as on all other tracks if past indications are anything to go by.
  24. Gwyneth, evil EMI influence, Brian Eno...I understand some fans might be hurt but seriously just blame it on Coldplay if you have to blame anyone and even then they are only guilty of joyously boldly presenting the work they are so excited about. How can this be wrong? How can anyone be at all be blamed for being passionate and doing what they like? I guess it´s much harder to admit Coldplay did not meet some people´s expectations and they actually were never under obligation to in the first place
  25. Yes exactly. I post in other threads too but come in these threads to just catch some fresh air and share the enthusiasm for MX :)
