1. Some of the dialogue I dont like either, but George is the man in my book :) He is the master behind this epic retelling of world mythologies and for that unique insight he´ll always be my hero :) Every writer has its shortcomings, but I think people tend to focus too much on what he did wrong and too little at what he created.
2. I had always liked the prequels more but because I am such an obsessive Jedi hehe The lightsaber scenes in the prequels are so epic! I also love the prequels because I truly like Anakin´s journey and its much more in focus there than in the OT of course. Agree about the CGI: it can and is a great tool but when its too much it just makes the movie less real..I dont know its like the brain can always tell which shots are CGI , if there are too many then you get that feel of "fake" while the OT, because of its super limited tech, will always have that feel of "real". I sincerely hope they have struck the right balance with Force Awakens. We shall see :) And yeah absolutely too much synth can have the same effect and make a song sound hollow. Though I still can hear Jonny loud and clear on AHFOD hehe so while its synth heavy at times (not always to my liking) its still organic enough that my ears embrace it hehe
3. LOL! haha Well I know nothing of Ariana Grande, but I did really love their duet during Global Citizen concert.
4. Oh wow someone who likes the prequels! *pinches himself* hehe Only about two months ago I watched a Star Wars marathon and I came to really appreciate the original trilogy for the very first time actually haha The opposite of you :) I was always ever so bored of the old trilogy because the lightsaber fights are so pathetic hehe But now I could watch it and appreciate the story and all the "real" feel to it. I think the prequels are a bit too heavy on CGI, but I still enjoy them yeah :) Ill be seeing Force Awakens next week too! Lets see how we like it :)
5. I just love stuff like this. I think it may be Phil who thinks these things up...bless him! :) I only wish I had given the album as gifts to a few people this year with the nice customised cover :) Oh well...next year :) Mobile Link: https://twitter.com/coldplay/status/676727226960846848
6. Welcome! Ive never been to the west of France, but Ive been to Paris and Provence. I love your country in so many ways (wine ahem food ahem LOL). Hope you´re enjoying AHFOD! So much to look forward to with the live shows, more singles, etc :)
7. LOL Lets hope not, for her sake! Sons or daughters of musicians dont tend to do too well in the music industry at least as far as history goes hehe Though there are exceptions. Actually in Denmark our most famous pop musician is the son of a very famous pop musician hehe

Haha I love what you just said :) reminds me of a time in my life when I used to ,well, mock myself for something I´d say or do or even like (your inner critic can be the worse!) and then I realised that it was really just a form of self censorship and it was so limiting, let alone hurtful. So since then I embrace it all, even the silly faces I make on the mirror in the morning LOL It has made me a much happier person and I feel much more loved. I guess that is why I tend to really really dislike any form of mockery or ridicule of someone´s genuine self expression, because I remember how bad it felt when I did it towards myself :/
9. I dont know but I still see no ads about the new album at Barnes for example. Still just advertising Adele. Either they are slow at marketing new music, or I dont know...
10. This most of all probably. Thats why I cant pick an album, not even the least favourite though I did attempt to like you did haha I must say though that generally and this goes for all music Im noticing I am much more likely to listen to the recent outputs than revisit the old albums. I very rarely revisit old music (unless its part of a live concert or something), even though I still like it. I kinda concluded that perhaps I just tend to live more in the present/future than the past and that reflects in the music I listen to too. (Mozart Requiem being the great exception but hey there is no modern mozart so we are stuck with whatever the guy put out hundreds of years ago LOL)

That puts my count to utter shame. LOL
12. Ok wow when did I suddenly become a Newplayer? hahaha I´ve known them since Parachutes and been rocking at Yellow and Clocks and Spies is the first song I ever heard from them and it still haunts me to this day hehe , though I was a too poor lad back then to go to any concerts in the UK hehe It is true that I really got into them first from X&Y. If that makes me new...., oh well I feel like a teenager again LOL
13. I respect your opinion but again I think your choice of lyrical quotes was quite deliberate and limited. No one would agree that those lyrics are deep, but I would also say it would be also hard to state that each song on AHFOD or MX has lyrics like those. It doesn't. We have prime examples of very good lyrical content on both albums. But I can empathise that if you really dislike something, that something tends to pop up to your ears and mind more than other bits. And just for the record, as odd as it may sound to some, Hymn really does move me every time, the "drunk and high" part just reminds me of how wonderful a certain person makes me feel and gives me joy to remember this every time the chorus comes up. So yeah I totally get your point, but its also hard to establish what lyrics are ultimately touching people or not. Yes I can see what you mean with your argumentation. Also in light of the fact that you said you´d like Coldplay to follow on U2´s steps and surpass them, I can see why you would feel the way you do about them going back to rock. As for whether they are good at pop or not it depends on the perspective. I could say that Maroon 5 and Taylor Swift make songs that are devoid of emotion to me, and that I am happy Coldplay can make a pop album that actually moves me, so I can enjoy the pop part but not have to switch off my heart in the process. With this in mind, I´d say they are very good at pop, more than the majority. Your point of view is equally valid. Though I´d conclude by saying yes they explored different genres and went more pop than ever before in AHFOD, but when they start playing Adventure live for example and I hear that guitar chime in, that voice and those beats, it is still so unmistakable Coldplay to me through and through! (You just have to look past the monkeys this time around LOL)
14. I totally agree with this thread, however a similar argument could be done for Jonny hehe I think they all just played very well together on AHFOD, the prime example to me being Adventure of a Lifetime. They keep stating in interviews that they´ve had the best time working on this and with fewer squabbles and I must say it can be a heard in the music too. They are super cohesive
15. I believe I had the cheapest most basic electric piano on the market LOL It really had nothing except the keyboard and the USB input and the basic effects. I did enjoy it for a while, especially that I could make strings background, then I sold it cuz I had no more free time to record songs, but I think even the most basic ones you can get quite a lot out of them :) Wow I was thinking about this a week or so ago. Every time I hear Fix You coming up live or Yellow for that matter I go like...oh boy *exhales* haha I honestly think its the wear out effect, because i distinctly remember loving Yellow and Fix You back when. I must say Viva is joining them in the "almost worn out" songs category too! Though I must say Clocks never made it into this group: maybe that piano riff and rocking drums are just too good to wear out haha who knows :)

Now I am curious...how many times did you listen to it? hehe I want to compare my geeky song count to other fellow coldplayers hehe If the song touches you and gives you happiness, it then stands out from other songs you listen to, therefore its a quality tune! :D And meh dont let other people tell you you are not qualified to judge whether a piece of music is good or moves you: you have ears and a brain to process the sound, ergo you´re qualified hehe :) I enjoy this song too every time because it makes me feel so determined to go to battle hehe I especially love parts like "I never say die, im never untrue". And I totally agree with your last sentence: thats what matters about anything really :)
17. I was never here during the X&Y era, it was constant moaning back then too? Oh dear haha I have to disagree though about your last sentence. Its not about the criticism or disagreement (which obviously is to be found in all fan forums and thank god for that!), its just the level of disappointment and bitterness here sometimes which I must say I find surprising. It kinda reminds me of how it must be (I've never been) to visit a star wars forum and the whole pro and con prequels camps, with a good chunk of fans moaning about getting "A new hope v2" hehe It is totally understandable because Coldplay changed so much its bound to split the fan base, but I still find the tone of some comments and inherent belittling of others musical taste unnecessary. I still think a discussion can be pleasant even if you strongly disagree. I generally have a rule that when I feel Im about to flare up or get upset or am hurt I go flaring my nostrils away from people and keyboards until they flare no more LOL
18. Haha yes I was joking :) Since you said that what I post is often something you would actually say, then if you like my post its like liking your own comments (coming through me LOL). Sorry if that came out wrong :) I use the liking feature often myself, I think its a great way to say “hey i hear ya! getting what you mean and i agree” :) I was not getting what you were saying about their decisions being objective, but maybe you mean conscious deliberate decisions? Which I agree with, but objective would be kinda impossible let alone detrimental of a piece of art, which is often a direct expression of personal feelings, opinions, etc. Yes I also agree that each album they make is being thought to death until the very last minute! I dont see AHFOD as an exception, if anything I still keep finding small little deliberate things throughout :) Yeah I totally hear that too, not sure if its more or less than other albums, but its certainly varied percussion throughout with surprising beats popping up (like the drum roll leading to Fun chorus, the glasses in Hymn, the cymbal galore in Adventure :), but I also think Jonny is more unhinged and varied than ever before and I also noticed myself nodding happily along with Guy bass (which honestly I dont think I ever did before, as bass is not my favourite instrument ). So I´d say they brought their A-game to AHFOD for sure and anyone can see that I think, independent of whether you like their musical direction or not. And yes the production I think is too sterile at points compared to the live version, but then I ask myself if there are actually studio versions of any Coldplay song I like better than live…and …I cant think of any off the top of my head LOL I must say that even in the places I think Stargate are trimming the organic too much, it still sounds like a very polished work. Aww the last sentence! I can relate and it used to bother me, but now I think its actually possible to have these discussions again, they might not be predominant, but then it just means we have to talk more :P
19. Lets keep the ball rolling! hehe Sleep time for me too...good night :)
20. I think it absolutely seeps into the music and thats definitely one of the reasons I like them. I really think the music reflects the artist as well, beyond the pure artistry of the music. For example I love some of U2 songs I think some of the songs are wonderful, but I cant bear hearing them because I just dont like U2 playing them LOL Like even Bono voice irritates me. I have no idea why really, something about them as people doesn't seem to click with me. So I agree that it often takes the whole package to really like a band :)
21. I actually meant that it would be detrimental to be objective about one´s creative output :) I dont think they have a favourite album (from what we hear from Guy anyway hehe) but like you say the making of an album must also be inextricably linked with how much they like that album (probably the reason they so dislike X&Y cuz they were not feeling good as a band then..), so yeah their perspective will always be different from the fans. As for loosing up, I think they are less worried bout what others think but I dont think they are less critical of themselves or less perfectionist. Just imagining the countless versions of the title track before they found the right one *LOL*
22. X&Y was bloated, even though it had great songs. I did not think so at the time but later I could see that I agreed with that statement. Viva I thought was just perfect, MX was perhaps a tad long but still good. Ghost Stories was to me masterfully produced. I actually find AHFOD flow better than MX. You can still have a heavy production and keep the organic sound or have a very spare production (like on GS) and have a synth sound. So I guess it depends on what you want the whole to sound like. I actually think they are 10 times harsher on themselves than we will ever be as critics! hehe Thats why they tinker until the very last minute, they are never happy lol And I dont think it would be helpful to be objective about creative output, to me its there to reflect what you feel, what comes through you and what resonates , so the whole thing is a product of subjectivity hehe I think they are capable to say the things from their work they like less (clearly X&Y and Talk for example hehe, probably others too we dont know about but they never play live haha)
23. To me mainstream means the first ten/twenty songs or albums on a chart or most played in the radio LOL I dont know...thats how I always thought of it hehe
24. I think its very hard to judge from a listener´s point of view. After all none of us are professional musicians (I think lol). I think the production is there to set the general vibe of the album or songs, so in that case I dont think it has been in decline if it has reflected how they wanted it to sound. Then as a listener one can like a certain producer or not of course. I never once thought Chris would be better off going solo. All from the very beginning you can hear how much the others contribute. Sure he comes with the melody, but the melody is just one little part of the song. The magic the others added has always been invaluable imo. All the way from Parachutes. Even that album would be a sad affair if it had just been Chris and his piano hehe (just think of The Scientist and how much Jonny lifts it in the end)
25. AHFOD is not mainstream compared to well...mainstream LOL Its definitely still alt in my opinion, though definitely pop-ish. If I think of pure pop I am thinking Lady Gaga , Madonna, last Taylor Swift for example. So Coldplay are not that to me at all. I would call it "alt pop" hehe The only tracks that come close to rock to my ears are the title track , the solos in Up&Up and a few seconds on Hymn when Jonny comes on hehe
