What makes someone happy is of course subjective, music included. I can sort of get what you´re saying: you think AHFOD is just too exuberant perhaps (which can be perceived as hedonistic indulgence as you phrase it). To me though its where they naturally were progressing towards from MX on (actually from Viva probably). AHFOD is Coldplay fully unrestricted. I disagree with the carelessless: I think Up&UP and Birds, among others, are examples of Chris putting more effort in the lyrics. I think AHFOD lyrics are a blend of some more developed lyrics and metaphors and then some much simpler and straightforward expressions. (birds ending for example) Whether the public will have as much fun listening as the band has had playing it, I guess time will tell :) I can say I am so far :)

Hmm sure but its not a general music forum, its actually for Coldplay fans (probably the most ardent Coldplay fan base meets here I think! ), so its not unsurprising that you´ll find a lot of people liking Coldplay output and also recent of course. I mean if I did not like AHFOD, GS or MX, etc I would not bother much being here and I think this applies to a lot of people here I assume. I dont think criticism surprises anyone, its the very harsh tone used and the amount of vitriol which honestly I and probably others Im guessing find quite surprising and baffling.

Hmm I think Im gonna write down all the lyrics from the vinyl lyric sheet on my iTunes song files :)

I understand the sentiment , reasons and how annoying this must be for artists and concert goers who dont stand there with their phones, but I dont think a ban is the ultimate answer, kinda like what the article concludes too. I think we are reaching saturation of the social networks society we live in, sooner or later people are bound to remember to appreciate 3D life first and take pictures of it afterwards. So I guess we just have to wait this through :/

Sorry to hear about your lack of good friends :/ But things can change pretty quickly so dont give up :) also I found often that ironically its when you dont think much about something or dont need it so badly that it tends to pop up in your life haha

I guess because it takes quite a lot to make me emotional haha I remember once I was playing a game and the opening scene some of my fellow players (girls) went oh it's sooo sad you will soo cry. And I was like ok wow I'm prepared! And then I was like: but I didn't cry or got sad lol And they went : meh you don't get it. And me: :( Hehe

Yeah I agree. To me it means that you still embark on a task and keep doing it even if it might take forever or it seems totally hopeless. Eyes on the prize, up and up even if may mean you reach your goal in like a million years lol

I did not excuse the male population lol I can't speak for other males but I think crying and being emotional are good things if they are expressions of a soul in touch with emotions and love! :) so being emotional to me means I'm deeply touched by love :) but the actual production of tears is not under my control and yes apparently hormones have a lot to say in the matter haha You're not alone! Haha matter of fact I was emotional throughout listening to the whole A head full of dreams for the first time. Each song just hit me deeply cuz it meant something personal to me and the music was so good and then having that colorful vinyl in my hands I was just overwhelmed with happiness haha There are no specific songs though where I get emotional each time. It really depends on how it resonates with my life. I much prefer the live version too. The studio version is more sterile to my ears. But no reason to blame Stargate. The band wanted it to sound that way apparently, they signed off on it. But yeah I also wish Jonny´s guitar were much more prominent and drums were organic. It would have lifted the song, made it more interesting, the studio version ends up being flat actually.

The indian theme I believe they said it was because India is so colourful and they were inspired by the colours or something along those lines :) The Flower of Life is sort of mentioned in Up&Up (and flower), so on the cover to me it just means all the colours of life, or a life full of vibrancy and color. The black and white photos I think they mentioned were their families, so I think it fits with the theme of including in the album all the people who mean something in their life. I agree with your interpretations of the stars and the birds hehe :)

Oh yes it does! haha I feel only blessed with my life, despite it being a crazy roller coaster, but never a dull day :) And good idea about getting a small thing! If I am still alone as we get nearer to xmas eve Ill make sure to get something :)

This year specifically I am not even home. I am still staying around in LA. Generally though Ive not had a tree for years: my life has truly been hectic in many ways past 4 years and that has had an effect on the holiday habits too. Though I cant wait to decorate a tree again! :)

I feel like I am finally relaxing after the longest journey. Nice to lie down and listen to the rain fall :)

I think the live version will always be my favourite, but I also found myself sometimes preferring the Avicii edit *LOL* Like those times where I just want the track to be 100% dance-y. So yeah it does vary with me I guess, but nothing ultimately beats the shimmering live instruments and that can really be said of any song really. I remember once having seen Mozart Requiem live for the first time, after I´d been obsessed with the recordings for ages. Well after the live version I cud not put on the record for the longest time because it so so paled compared to what I´d heard live. hehe
