  1. Not the latter case at all, but totally the former haha Its the avatar pics that trick my brain I absolutely agree :)
  2. Wow great time to discover Coldplay with an album like Mylo! hehe And just because I like geeking about lyrics, to me that sentence can mean different things. One to me is saying that I´d rather believe in hope, in the future and in change (a comma as a pause that precedes a new sentence) rather than believe that things are hopeless or done for (a full stop ends your story). Another meaning to me is that I´d rather be dynamic and fluid rather than too rigid and black and white (the comma gives me a sense of fluidity, while the full stop makes me think of something rigid and absolute----"Only Sith deals in absolute" - sorry Star Wars pops up when you least expect it in my head haha) Its one of my favourite sentences too by the way as well as "rose bursting through the concrete" and quite a few others :)
  3. Oh wow...long posts LOL Which is so great because we all love so much from each album! haha There is no way for me to list all I like from each album without writing a novel haha so I´ll try to just put some short words about each one, maybe something unusual other than what applies to each album like, I dont know, Jonny is a legend in each track hehe Parachutes: Spies first song I heard from Coldplay still gives me shivers, Dont panic first Jonny solo I heard and marvelled at :) I love how the Parachutes title turned into hot air balloons in AHFOD :) A rush: Clocks omg the perfection :) , Politik is just so powerful and the ending is just no words probably their best ever, Green Eyes majorly personal to me, The Scientist same thing, I like how I had songs like Warning Sign to keep me company when I was miserable in love LOL, I love the title track. X&Y: Love the codes and puzzle theme, love how the first time I listened to it I thought I was listening to a "best of" lol, the soaring space-y feeling each song has, my first Coldplay concert was during X&Y great memories :), A Message I particularly love because its so personal to me. Viva: The colours! Coldplay´s got colours LOL The clothes, the cover, how I was mesmerised when I listened to it for the first time, it sparkles this one in so many ways, two wonderful concerts I attended from this era Wembley one especially, all those butterfly confetti and yellow balloons and free live CDs :), the marvellous EP with even more gems. The whole thing is like a marvellous painting, true to its covers, how Cemeteries of London speaks of witches and God in one song haha, the death and life theme throughout, the Strawberry Swing app game LOL Where up until now I really really liked Coldplay, from Viva I started to love them :) Mylo Xyloto: My life changed dramatically when this album came out and each single seemed to go side by side with every new marvellous step I took, so this one is incredibly personal to me. I cud not name all it means to me in one post, so Ill go for some quirky things. Love how the title is a new word, how the cover to the special edition is a cut out, the collectible edition is a pop book how cool is that?, the comics people...the comics!, the picture disc, the sense of joy and freedom and liberation in each song, the rose bursting from the concrete, I really like Every Teardrop and Princess video, the amazing concert I attended in Paris and the xylobands. Ghost Stories: Oh wow another incredibly personal one haha (Citing again only a few random things, otherwise it´d be a novel hehe) Midnight blew me away so amazing, loved the video!, love how the album is so cool, somber gives me the feeling of swimming in a deep cold cold ocean, the animation introducing the album was stunning, the journey this album portrays is just wonderful concluding with A SFOS and Fly On its just so perfect and poignant, the feeling of longing each track has is exquisitely beautiful in its sadness, this one accompanies you as your heart is breaking into a million pieces all the way until you start seeing a glimmer of light, love how Chris bears his soul in this one and his buddies rally around him in support. A head full of dreams: Too early for a proper list hehe but I love how its a a celebration, love Adventure best Coldplay single imo, the soaring Birds, the way the absence of someone you love is turned into something so positive in Everglow, Hymn is so epic and joyous, Kaleidoscope is the best Coldplay interlude imo very moving and lovely piano, how you can make a personalised cover! hehe, happen to love X marks the spot a lot, love how I listened to it for the first time and I was moved through and through while reading the colourful 360 degrees lyrics on the vinyl haha Good memories :), more to be added as this era evolves Im sure :)
  4. Because I mistook a few girls for guys already haha so I am acutely aware of trying to make sure I dont do that again hehe
  5. Yeah I guess what they write on the website is a bit unclear: Please Note: While we try to ship from the closest location to ensure the fastest service worldwide, items may ship from other international distribution centers. It looks like they still will attempt to ship from within Europe to you. Im still baffled they won't reply the emails you guys send when they clearly state on the website they will reply within 1 business day. All I can think of as an explanation is that they are extra busy during Christmas :/ But yeah you´re absolutely right: a pre-order should be guaranteed delivery on or max a few days after release date. Although you will have those stickers to make up for it, whenever it does arrive hehe
  6. No way...Mine was just a rhetorical question. I never imagined it´d actually have an answer haha But you know...I kinda like Goldplayer, makes me feel I dont know....shiny LOL
  7. I dont know if they changed things now but back when I ordered some stuff from the official webpage , during Mylo Xyloto era, they did still ship from within Europe to european destinations, so you should have a good chance to get your stuff before Christmas? However its also true that often when ordering in December month things tend to go much slower than usual :/ I try to shop locally as much as I can , but the official online store lures you with their exclusive stickers and merchandise haha :)
  8. So is there a term for fans who like all the albums? LOL
  9. Its certainly a quite different mood than Viva! I wonder if you liked Mylo Xyloto? There was quite a mix of styles in there with a lot of Viva-like tracks like Up with the Birds, UFO, Us Against the World, Charlie Brown, Major Minus, Moving to Mars, (b-side but still same era), Dont let it break your heart,... ok too many to mention LOL I think the quality tunes are still there, however the sound and production have changed a lot on this album (following the stripped down GS), so maybe thats why you feel Viva is much more listenable? I´d say if its organic sound you prioritise I totally get what you mean, but I´d say Mylo was quite organic too. Btw I love VLV. That album is dear to me especially because they released Prospekts March haha I so wish we had EPs from each era now that B-sides are all but dead :/
  10. Well now I would not advocate against medication when needed LOL But Im sure you meant it metaphorically haha To me more than being objective and understand it will solve the problem (which I agree is an important part), I find the hardest is simply to stay with the unpleasant feeling instead of pushing it away. Someone could tell you hey keep your hand on the flame because its good for you ultimately, but even if you might know that your body will instinctively withdraw your hand because it naturally wants to escape pain (unrealistic example but u know what i mean I hope LOL). its that instinctive automatic reactive behaviour I found the hardest to re-train, but yeah practice makes perfect eh? :)
  11. Ah that is so annoying :/ I wonder why they have not replied yet though. Apparently on their website they write: Customer Service contact information 1-800-767-7160 or +1-949 333-4280 for international callers. You can also use our web form to contact us via email. We will respond to your inquiry within one business day. Usually companies dont write a specific time frame like that without being able to live up to it, so very strange you have not received a reply yet! I´d say try the phone number as a last resort, but I damn well know its too expensive for us folks living abroad :/
  12. That sounds really geeky yes and I love it ! haha However I cant say Ive ever done specifically this the way you describe it. I notice the details but not individually. But Ill never break the songs apart to then take them together and Ill tell you why. I used to have to do that with my own songs and also with the songs I would have to learnt to then cover when I played for people and I tell you....those songs become ruined for me forever! LOL I totally get why Coldplay dont listen to their own songs after pulling them apart and together so many times. To this day the wonderful "Nothing else matters" by Metallica I cant listen to it, I can only play it: I dont have fun listening to that anymore because I spent so many hours years ago on training playing the guitar while singing that my ears have had it! haha And may I edit this to a Christmas wish if you will for all of us here hehe "everyone is bouncing off and interacting with every one else on this forum, I love it!"
  13. Jedi Leo replied to getithom's topic in Up&Up
Im not sure I would call them bad. I would if all the album were filled with them hehe But the way they were placed in specific songs of a certain vibe (Hymn) makes me think they are deliberately chosen to fit the mood of the song and match a more light-hearted theme. I noticed how Chris really tends to carefully choose even the enunciation of the words this time around, to make them more melodic and rhythmic. So sure Para para para is hardly eloquent haha but it does work with the rhythm of the song. I think the same can be said of songs on AHFOT. :O But you must! haha Noel thinks himself a poor guitarist but he made some great epic solos. Check out Dont look back in anger or Live Forever, but there are many others :) Thats what I initially thought too but the bending of the note in the second solo is SO Oasisque that I kinda concluded it must be Jonny doing Noel, but your reasoning was nearly identical to mine.
  14. God I just LOVE that shot of them , all coloured up :)
  15. Ghost was radically different from AHFOD and both are different from Mylo, so not sure that I can say they´ve done the same thing, but I do agree with you that they have incorporated pop into their latest albums much more than the ones before. On some level I can see what you mean that perhaps people might like them less because they are less rock and more pop, it may be true, but on the other hand they´ve had great hits with precisely the very songs that are deemed too mainstream hehe (and of course their successful live shows which have only gotten so great since Viva, which arguably included their very first really poppish song "Lost feat. Jay Z" hehe) As for this album being different, I dont know its too early to tell imo. I honestly did not think Paradise would grow to be such a hit when it came out and also ASFOS. They have seemed to me both slow burners...so I guess lets wait a year or so, see how these songs grow with people. It may be different or just too early :)
  16. I have little idea about what those terms mean. I thought newplayers were fans of recent years. If thats the definition , I dont fit in hehe If there is another meaning to that term, then i have no idea :) Ok maybe Im seeing things differently here, but let me say this. If I went now into a Taylor swift biggest fan base forum I´d expect to find the greatest group of people supporting and liking her music. Thats just simple logic. So I dont think its particularly odd for a specific fan base of an artist to, for the large majority, support and like that artist work, ergo the fan base :) Just because they are fans and like the music/ band, that doesn't mean they hang on every word the band says and will blindly chant their support no matter what they do. To me this kind of view does do disservice to the community and does not acknowledge that its formed by people with an independent head over their head...Honestly Ive not met one Coldplayer who does not have at least some criticism or things they dont like about the band, so what you see is certainly something I dont see. If uniformed though means unanimously agreeing on discussing different opinions in a respectful and friendly manner that includes and acknowledges everyone, then Im all for that kinda of uniformity :)
  17. Ah ha sorry about that :) AHFOD vs. U2 elevation
  18. AHFOD (Im a big Nirvana fan but I never liked Breed haha) Scientist vs The long and winding road
  19. Staying home to work all day today, hopefully Ill be done during the weekend and be ready to see Force Awakens on Monday! yay :) Im thinking it´d be nice to have a Star Wars thread but then I´d never stop posting LOL I dont think Ill ever join a star wars fan forum. I am just too into it I´d have to comment til my fingers bleed...not good hehe Better use of my spare time is to play with the Star Wars app lightsaber training game LOL
  20. I like the different tones too but I only ever used them as background chords (like a strings background to a song). I could not dream of playing I dont know a violin or guitar solo on the keyboard hehe Call me old fashioned but thats just a no no for me *lol* I tried to play drums too cuz I needed percussion background for some songs, but I quickly just gave up. Its just so wrong for to stand there without a drum stick and a drum and just see your finger tapping hahaha I need to feel the impact of my whole arm on that drum as I pound it or that string as I press it! LOL I guess I am very physical when it comes to music :)
  21. Yeah it is a new habit to create as well as trying to break the old habit of a lifetime of NOT being aware, so its a double work! No wonder it takes so long to get some tangible long lasting results, so I guess its useful to keep the focus on the long term hehe But it is absolutely possible. I did not think it was once, but I was gladly surprised that I was wrong. Also often its hard to stay conscious and mindful of unpleasant thoughts and feelings. The natural reaction of our mind is to run from those, so I found it useful back when I began to make an extra effort to try and stay with something that is unpleasant (sitting with the poison comes to mind hehe) namely because thats where the mind is more likely to wander off.
  22. If that bad period is way longer than the "good" period Im not sure I would still stick around LOL Also sport teams tend to be connected to a sort of geographical loyalty. Its like no matter how bad a team does, its still your home team so you´re kinda bound to support them hehe So I totally get Rickulus question, but I guess we come at it from different expectations and perspectives. I cant really say my loyalty takes priority over my enjoyment of the music, maybe that makes me a bad fan haha But its just music and I prioritise investing in what gives me joy, not in criticising what doesn't. But I do get your point Adversary as well as your steadfastness about the band and I do hope that in time they will play a good game for you again :)
  23. Wow people....I won't be getting any Christmas cards or gifts this year (first time, LOL), so I am living vicariously through this amazing thread! I am just stunned at the wonderful packages. So great! :) Keep the photos coming!
  24. I think Hymn will be the Paradise of this era whenever they release that single. I also think it will do better than Adventure, like Paradise did better than every teardrop. But then we also have Up&Up , which has strong potentials to become the next Fix You. So...lots of possibilities :)
