  1. Potential wuss moment, but I woke up with this song in my head, and after I got out of bed I played it and f^ck, I shed a tear.
  2. Sorry. I stand corrected. ;)
  3. You say that Kings of Leon's album(s) flopped, commercially and critically - why is that an important factor when choosing whether to listen to them or not? Or for determining the quality of the band in question?
  4. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Is there really not gonna be a tour this time?
  6. Strawberry Swinger replied to Tash's topic in True Love
Jonny's solo is brilliant. Come on guys, learn a thing or two about atonality.
  7. 1. Midnight 2. O 3. Oceans 4. Another's Arms 5. Always In My Head 6. Magic 7. True Love 8. Ink ... ... ... 150. A Sky Full of Stars (Will post the short reviews a bit later :) )
  8. Yes because that is the most important thing when you choose good music. :dozey:
  9. ^I am OK with the album not being all huge and stuff but I think they should have focused fully on the dark, moody, mysterious atmosphere that Another's Arms, Oceans and Midnight deliver. The "happier" songs really ruin the flow for me.
  10. Oh and the thing I forgot to mention is... I don't feel the urge to listen to this album. The same problem I had with Mylo Xyloto , more often than not. Whereas I couldn't give up on Viva, that was brilliance. BTW, kudos on the guys for being brave and trying sth new. For them.
  11. To some* songs, sorry. And what I mean by that is that I don't feel the depth sonically, the over-use of electronic sounds and instruments killed the essence for me.
  12. Well... So far... - It's nice music but it's not Coldplay. It's Chris Martin. - No drums, obviously - Claiming that it's supposed to be honest and what they wanted to make but actually sounds too modern and over the top mainstream (for the most of it) - No real depth to the songs, teenage-y sound... - Oceans is awfully produced. Did they really leave it like this? The volume mix is horrible. - A Sky Full of Stars should have never ever happened.
  13. Couldn't you have left out Life In Technicolor instead of Yes...?
  14. Well, I like the live version better I guess, but this one brings a different atmosphere. Kinda overproduced, just like Mylo Xyloto was, but still, it's moody, dark and Chris' voice brings to the atmosphere. I like it.
  15. Parachutes - Everything's Not Lost (Never found it interesting tbh) AROBTTH - GPASUYF (I got bored of it) X&Y - What If (Drags on for ages) VLV - Chinese Sleep Chant (The album is perfection but I don't think this one was much needed) MX - ETIAW (Though Up in Flames is up there too) GS - A Shit Full of Stars (No comment, no need to rethink after hearing the whole album)
  16. See, it is this thing right here that annoys the crap out of me. It has become more important to have a number 1 hit on iTunes than to have good music, especially six albums and millions of copies in... I give up. With all my potential pretentiousness, I can't handle the idea of the most important thing about Coldplay's new music is that it becomes a hit. Fuck that.
  17. But potentially it's just the opposite! I am all for the band making the music they like making, I am just being skeptycal (sp?) that they are doing this for other people , and this song sounds exactly like music for the masses (no DM reference pun intended) ! On the other hand, songs like Oceans, O and Always In My Head - THAT is what sounds like music the band wants to make... Of course, I might be wrong (no Radiohead reference pun intended either :D ) ... As for the words in my mouth part, I apologize - I just wanted to say that I don't want to be labeled as saying that those who like the song are not true Coldplay fans.
  18. I understand where you are coming from. Basically, in the end, it's good music and bad music. But when I am into some musician's catalogue, I am dedicated to their sound. It is OK to evolve, it is OK to be influenced, it is OK to change your sound, as long as it makes sense and it is another side of you. VLV, the album, was different, yes, but it was not like million other songs and artists out there. THAT is what bothers me most, you know? I don't know how else to explain it and not be considered the hater douchebag around here, which you always seem to be the minute you say you dislike sth the others do...
  19. Let me get this straight rightaway - I don't want to be put words into my mouth - I am not saying that people who like it are not true fans - that's just silly jumping to conclusions. I am just saying that if I wanted to hear a song like this, I'd turn to Avicii, Calvin Harris or whoever else that makes thousands of songs like this. Like someone said before, I'd be OK if this were Avicii featuring Chris Martin. I don't like this to be Coldplay's song. And damn it , why is that when somebody doesn't like something the band/musician in question does he HAS to justify the claims. I don't like it, I think it's garbage. Deal with it. I am not attacking anyone for liking it, am I? One more thing - Chris has said in the interview that he likes that there are no more genre boundaries, and how it is all blending. Well, I am sorry, I can only partially agree with him on this one because at times, what is lost by this blending is uniqueness. And that's what this song lacks to me. It's like 100 of other songs out there. I don't need that from Coldplay. But you can have it.
  20. Yes, it is called following trends. Sorry, but you can't know this. Of course everything is sugar-coated in interviews, but none of us can safely say that they didn't want to make a song like this just to have a modern sounding hit. If anything else, saying that they "don't care what other people think" is exactly the way to make you buy it. Not saying that they are liars, nor am I attacking you personally ( :) ) , just really believe that Chris is constantly trying to follow trends, not to mention indirectly sucking up to whoever is in the spotlight at the time ( Jay Z, Justin Bieber, Beyonce, Rihanna, Avicii and now One Diretion)...
  21. I just knew this song would be a disappointment, but I didn't know it would be such mainstream shit. This is just laughable, and I think it is really pointless to have it on the album. Sorry to those who don't agree with me, I just can't find this thing serious. Really. Painful to listen to. AND BLATANTLY OVERRATED.
