  2. January 14, 2010 - submitted by Kara, Malaysia Q. Hey there, Maybe people out there were like me too. The question is was the Grammy voted by public or judge by jury? ps: what is the stands for a.k.a? The Oracle replies: The Grammy Awards submissions are reviewed by an extensive panel of music industry experts. Works are then voted for and they make up the nominations. This shortlist is sent to members of the Recording Academy who vote secretly. Before the reviewing stage of the process eligible nominations are actually entered for consideration by a record label or individual. In case anyone is wondering no, Coldplay did not enter themselves! A.K.A means also known as and furthermore P.K.A means professionally known as.

  11. http://www.oxfam.org.uk/applications/blogs/pressoffice/?p=9911&v=media?ito=3347 Coldplay and Emily Eavis join Oxfam appeal for Haiti earthquake January 13th, 2010 at 4:11 pm. Coldplay singer Chris Martin and Glastonbury Festival organizer Emily Eavis have joined Oxfam’s call for funds to help those affected by the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Chris Martin, who travelled to Haiti with Oxfam in 2002 to meet coffee farmers supported by the charity, said: “I visited Haiti with Oxfam a few years ago. It’s a country of extreme poverty and brutal living conditions. Most people in Port-au-Prince live in tin shacks. The earthquake that has struck Haiti will have turned the city into an unimaginable hell. “The people of Haiti will be desperate for help and assistance. You can make a donation at http://www.oxfam.org.uk.” The band will make a donation to the Oxfam appeal today, and Glastonbury have also donated to the appeal. Emily Eavis, who was in Haiti with Chris at the same time, added: “I visited Haiti with Oxfam in 2002 and it’s the poorest place I’ve ever been by a long way - it seems doubly unfair that it should be hit by such a devastating earthquake, especially after the hurricanes of the last two years. They do not have the resources needed to cope with a disaster of this scale, that is what makes this so much worse. “I know how hard people there work to try to survive: they have an incredible spirit and face hardship head-on without self pity. I can’t imagine how they are coping now. “Glastonbury is supporting Oxfam’s appeal for Haiti - if you go to the website http://www.oxfam.org.uk you can leave a donation.” Oxfam today launched an appeal for millions of pounds as it geared up its response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti. The extent of the devastation is still unclear but local officials are reporting a catastrophe of major proportions. Thousands are feared dead, millions are affected, and major buildings - such as the presidential palace - have collapsed. Oxfam has a 100 strong-team working across Haiti - including 15 emergency specialists - and will be responding with public health, water and sanitation services to prevent the spread of waterborne disease. It also has links with a large network of community volunteers who can get aid to affected people quickly. Oxfam has emergency stocks pre-positioned in Panama and in Bicester, Oxford and is primed to send them to the quake zone if needed. People can donate by calling 0300 200 1999, online at http://www.oxfam.org.uk and at their local Oxfam shops.

  14. I like the movie :uhoh: It's one of these "zero pretence" movies (if that's the word) but it's cute and lifts your mood. Anyone of you here has seen "Sleuth"? The remake from 2007 where Michael Caine played the "other" role than in the original movie? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmix3UgpAtM]YouTube- Sleuth - NEW TRAILER![/ame] EDIT: Sarah, Hi!! Glad I'm not the only one liking it. It's so cute when she visits him at home and gets to know his daughters and Kate W. becoming friends with the neighbour, Kate is awesome. Did you see "Revolutionary Road"?

  18. Kirsten, ach du Scheiße, so günstig?? Hatte letztens mal so aus Neugierde nachgeschaut, wie teuer es nach Chile oder New York is, um die Preise zu vergleichen. 400 € is da ja gar nix :stunned: Zahle immer noch die letzten beiden London Trips ab, werd das also nich wahrnehmen, aber das Angebot is wirklich unglaublich günstig.
  19. Live 8 day today! January 13, 2010 - submitted by Michael, United States of America Q. At Live 8 in 2005, did Coldplay stick around after their performance to see Pink Floyd reunite? Are they fans of The Floyd? The Oracle replies: Continuing with a Live 8 question... Yes they are fans of Pink Floyd but Coldplay had a show that night at Glasgow's Hampden Park as they were still on tour at the time so had to leave soon after their own performance therefore missing the historical moment.
  20. January 13, 2010 - submitted by Rimmal, United States of America Q. Hello Oracle! I hope you will answer this question for me. At the 2003 Live 8 show, Chris sings an extra line in the end of In My Place that goes, "I like it, I like it," etc. Why did he add the extra line? Thanks!! The Oracle replies: It was 2005 not 2003 but the extra line Chris added to In My Place was taken from Status Quo's Rocking All Over the World. He added it because, well, all the artists taking part were literally rocking all over the world as it was a global concert taking place almost simultaneously in 10 different places. ------ That's the "Best solo" youtube video, what a descriptive title
