  1. The best part of the movie was clearly Marge taping over the wedding video, which was a real, sincere, heartfelt moment. The actual humor in the movie was hit-or-miss, but The Simpsons hasn't always been about simply the jokes. I agree that Spiderpig is the retarded, though.
  2. I actually finally watched this movie yesterday. As nice as hearing LIT was, it felt a bit out of place, I thought. Then again, I didn't think all that highly of the movie in general. First one was a lot better. :\
  3. I'd listened to these guys before and thought they were okay, not really seeing all the hype. But I really started appreciating them after seeing them live for a shortened, 30-minute set (but I only took like 2 pics of them). A new album coming out means that I picked a good time to jump on the bandwagon, and "Cousins" sounds pretty good. (Also, for those who play Guitar Hero, word has it that there's gonna be some Vampire Weekend songs coming out in a few weeks for download.)
  4. Night at the Museum 2 6/10 To be honest, I liked the first one way better. This just seemed like a needless sequel with less humor. LIT was nice but it's not gonna save the movie for me.
  5. Congratulations to the many super-lucky Coldplayers who managed to bag items! It's a shame that no Coldplayers bagged the BIN items, but I'm glad that many of the items actually went to actual fans instead of sleazebags planning on hoarding it for resale.
  6. I didn't know Joe Satriani was a member of Arcade Fire.
  7. I opened the decade by playing Clocks. :)
  8. Happy 2010 and Happy 2000 posts! I still have another 3 hours until midnight, and I'm debating whether I want to open the decade with either a full-blast Clocks or a round of Politik head-banging. What to do, what to do...
  9. Heh, I'm pleasantly surprised that The Scientist made it over Fix You.
  10. MTV is a waste of time. Voted in spite of said fact.
  11. Happy New Year, Coldplaying! :D Actually, it's still 2009 here. Can you 2010 people tell me what the future is like? Have the robots revolted yet?
  12. My first actions of the new decade will undoubtedly be head-banging to Politik. :D When that clock strikes midnight, BAM! (yes, I am without New Year's plans, okay?)
  13. "Somewhere a Clock Is Ticking" is a bloody amazing song. But their ballads - like it or not - are probably their more popular material.
  14. As a huge Snow Patrol fan, I don't see it happening. Their latest album didn't feature any pop equivalent to "Chasing Cars", which Gary has even gone on record of calling their "signature song" (and even then, that needed a prime time TV montage to propel it into extreme popularity). Coldplay doesn't really have a single signature song, because each hit they pump out is as big as the last. In a way, I'm actually glad Snow Patrol has found that nice little "comfort zone" between mainstream popularity and relative obscurity. But I hope they become bigger yet.

  19. In an attempt to dig up some obscure-but-not-completely-unheard-of stuff, you may or may not have heard these. If you haven't, add 'em to your list. Bell X1 - Blue Lights on the Runway Emily Haines & the Soft Skeleton - Knives Don't Have Your Back Headlights - Some Racing, Some Stopping Mates of State - Re-Arrange Us The Reindeer Section - Son of Evil Reindeer Stars - Set Yourself on Fire White Rabbits - It's Frightening As for committing to your resolution...good freaking luck.
  20. The LITii video was my favorite Coldplay video from the VLV era, so I'm glad that it's gotten the recognition it deserves (which will be even sweeter if it wins the Grammy).

Just watched (500) Days of Summer and I got excited when they played "Mushaboom". Any news on any future work from Feist? It's been almost three years since The Reminder...
  22. (500) Days of Summer 8/10 Enjoyed the fresh take on the genre. I disliked the ending, though, which came off as rather cheesy. ("Autumn"? Seriously?) But everything up to that point was rather good, with a great soundtrack, some clever artistic decisions, and of course, sexy Zooey action. :D Also rewatched The Hangover, which was as hilarious as the first time I saw it. (9/10) Need to see Avatar still...
  23. The MK Ultra and Exogenesis shirts are also bloody awesome. Unfortunately, the U.S. store only sells crap.
  24. Even though the completionist in me still keeps "Lost+" in my iTunes library, it is one of the few songs where I will immediately skip to the next song when it comes on. While I like "Lost!" and love "Lost?", the Jay-Z collab is one of the worst things Coldplay has ever done and totally ruins an otherwise good song.
  25. I'd totally bid on Coldplay's souls. :P
